Hi everyone.

After a lot of consideration I think I'm going to go for this setup:

Existing equipment :
1. Denon 1609
2. Polk Audio 10" sub
3. Paradigm Atoms

Will get:
1. Paradigm Mini monitor
2. Paradigm cc-190

So the setup will be :

Fronts : Mini Monitor
Center : cc-190
Rears : Atoms

Some questions:
1. What do you think of this setup? I wanted to get Titans pero parang mas madaling idrive tong mini monitor considering 1609 lang yung avr ko.
2. For the rears anong magandang placement nito?
3. Saan maganda kumuha nitong new gears

Hi everyone.

After a lot of consideration I think I'm going to go for this setup:

The stores that stock Paradigm products that I know of and where you can audition are SnS in ortigas, Audible Illusions in QC and (I think) Watt Hifi in MCS (Makati).  

As usual, best to audition.  Kung kaya with your amp, dalhin mo na rin to see how it handles the mini and the titans.  Hassle lang for you since existing equipment na siya, if you don't use banana plugs, medyo hassle tanggalin yung current speakers niya and ibalik pa.  That is, if di mo pa uuwiin ang panalo sa audition.  

Placement ng rears, di ko alam.  I guess that would depend on your room.  Do you intend to wall mount it or place them on stands?

maganda nga sana kung ma audition ko ng maayos sa bahay ko. don't know lang if pwede. ayaw ko naman dalhin yung avr ko sa shop since iba rin naman ang tunog na lalabas dun given so many other different factors.

buti pa kung used yung items e pwede i audition hehehee.

IMHO, get the TITAN as your front, as you can see in my previous post akai is only 50 W/c and @ 10 o/clock dial halos mabasag na ang speaker, you're AVR is good enough to push titan at isa pa all your speakers will be set @ small...

placement of SR sp... there are lots of suggestions you can find online... and try to expirement that sounds better in your room...

Probably the 1609 will be able to drive the Titans.  Its sensitivity is 93db at 8ohms naman so it should be ok.  

Although I wouldn't be surprised if the 50 wpc of power given by the Akai would be more than the power given by the 75wpc of the AVR.  Not saying it is.  Just wouldn't be surprised.

Audition mo na lang.  I think the drivers of the minis are big enough na rin naman and the titans are really huge.  I think I remember some user comments or reviews (don't remember kung saan ko nabasa) that the Titans were a little boomy.  I cannot verify this though.  Best to listen for yourself.

i have a feeling it will be boomy. Medyo maliit lang yung area ko so I think I will do well with the mini monitor. Need to research on something else though. Front firing yung titans e unlike the atom and mini monitor.

wow ang ganda naman nyan! Medyo maliit lang yung area ko for now kasi condo unit. Maybe I'll move to a bigger place pero not in the near future. Talagang gusto ko yang titans. Sandali... will try to get a quote for them.

mine is titan V6, sinubukan ko pong ilagay to sa kwarto ko(just for an experiment) in place of my B&W 303..kung maliit ang area, BOOMY!.masakit sa ulo at sa dib dib..
kung maluwag naman ung place at medyo maganda ang treatment, i can say, that my new titan v6 is as good as my beloved 602 s3, lamang pa nga ng kaunti eh..




by the way, ung titan v6 po ay front and rear ported..
para saken po sir, ill get the titan..
you can tame its boominess with your avr.
besides, HT naman ang set up mo, your SUBwoofer itself will be boomy pag maliit ung area mo..

Bro, kaunting comment lang, medyo malapit yata ang speakers mo sa back wall. Those are beatiful sounding speakers. They will sound better IMHO is place farther away from the wall. My listening room is also quite small but i make sure na i put enough space at the back wall. I could hear that it improves the imaging of the speaker and the overall balance from top to bottom.

Just my 2 cents.

my reasoning 1) even if i buy the mini monitor i'll still be on the lookout for the titans.

2) it was a good price

3) i plan to move to a bigger house in the future

I could say yes because the sound wave is still exciting the whole room and placing a bass trap at the back will still help in taming the bass at the place where you put it. This is to consider especially for speakers being placed near the back wall.

brader Mak,you are right as you mentioned boominess can be tamed by AVR...  and to more on that, SUBs can be tamed also even in small areas if your AVR or preamp has room correction or room equalization function. just my 2cents..

in my case, kahit outdated na ang aking pre/pro... with it's room equalization feature still a big factor to keep... (at maiwasan ang SARS)...
