does EDTV 42" Plasma need upconversion?
« on: Oct 28, 2006 at 12:05 PM »
Hi guys,

I have a panny 42-pw6 plasma monitor. being a beginner that is reading thru the board, i noticed quite a few topic for dvd upconversion using their dvd player.

I was wondering if my current setup would benefit from upconversion thru component video?

I believe the resolution of my panny is at 853x480?

Hope someone could bring clarification to this newbies post. :)

Hi! I don't think it would make a difference in terms of PQ if you use a dvd w/ hdmi upscaling. Since the maximum resolution of an edtv is 480p (progressive). Any progressive scan dvd player would be the best option. Hope this helps.
