Phillips 32" PF5320...comments?
« on: Oct 30, 2006 at 11:33 PM »
Hi,
Newbie here, my wife recently purchased a Phillips 32" lcdtv model PF5320. It came with 2 table tops (1 for a 29" tv the other for the lcdtv), mounting bracket, a standfan and a home theatre (hts-3105). Everything for php75k.

Do you guys think this is a good deal?

Do you any comments (positive or negative)/ recommendations with phillips lcdtv?

Hi zenky,

Can you give a review on the PF5320. How good is the cable TV reception? Does it have 2 tuner PIP? Thanks.

I think it's a good deal if you got a free 29" CRT TV, home theater and other stuff all for 75K. It's comparable to one offered for the Samsung L32S71 to some of the members here.

Picture quality is a subjective one. Your wife may have seen better on the Philips but I also made a side by side comparison to the Samsung L32S71. To be honest, it's very hard to tell the difference specially if both are tweaked to optimal settings and the source is a high quality HDMI generated source. I did notice however, that the Philips gets more washed out as you view the picture screen from the side instead of directly in front of the TV set. I think it's because of the difference in the type of LCD panel used. Philips uses an active matrix TFT, while Samsung uses what they call a PVA panel.

The specs indicate it doesn't have the PIP feature like Samsung's. The only other LCDTVs I know at this price level with the PIP feature as the Samsung's is the LG 32LX2R or 32LC2R or the Sansui 32 LCD.

Thanks for this info. I saw a demo of the LG 32LC2R and it was good. I prefer those with dual tuner PIP's that s why Im very particular in this aspect.

Zenki, thanks for info. Ill check the links. I was hoping that Philips LCD has 2tuner PIP's , much like their pixel plus CRT tv.s.
