nope. regular price is 3.6k for the bridge II ipod dock.  get it for only 2.5k if bought with the hk 355. :)

Anybody here using HKs for a 4 ohm load?  Read in some forums that all HK AVRs are 4 ohm stable.

Also, I understand that HKs have a lower power rating but will not necessarily be less powerful than 100w of say Denon, Onkyo or Yamaha.

Will the 255 or 355 have difficulty driving a 4 ohm speaker with a sensitivity of 86db?

i have an hk255, and it's 50wpc rating for 7 channels is underrated... it is able to power speakers more easily than some 85-90 wpc rated avrs... i won't mention brands, but all i can say is that i have been able to compare and can confirm this to be a fact...
There's only one way to find out right?

Just wondering if anybody has service complaints about H/K.  I heard from one store that they stopped pushing the brand (although they can still source it) because there have been times wherein the service of H/K just tells them that the unit is irreparable and to just get a new unit.

Receiver with preouts have the advantage of using external power amps to power their speakers, what this means is in the event you feel your receiver is not giving enough power to your speakers, you have the option of just adding a power amp instead of changing the receiver. Most mid to high end receivers should have preouts.

the hk 255 and hk 355 have upscaling capabilities to output analog sources to 1080p via hdmi. :)

pre-outs are used if you want to connect external power amps. :)

It's not underrated, most other brands are just overrated. HK uses high current power supplies plus thast signature "sweet" HK sound.

Notice that the AVR amps that handle speakers better are by brands that are also known for their stereo gear. NAD, Rotel, HK, Marantz...the other companies that slid on their 2ch efforts have AVR's that are more sensitive to what speakers are paired with them.
