I've auditioned the RTa1 against infinity and tsi, the RTA1 won, now ive got one in my bedroom.. just got it today.. the RTA's sound more detailed and more fuller... though maganda din yung Infinity and TSI pero mas nanalo talaga ang RTA's for me...

congrats bro on your new babies :) do also got the h/k?

Gud evening Sirs! I'm torn between buying a Harman Kardon AVR 160 or Onkyo 508. Which one do you think is better? I intend to use it 50/50 (movies/audio). TIA

Just my opinion. The Harman Kardon 160 has a fuller, richer sound compared to Onkyo. I auditioned both receivers playing movies and music using Polk Audio speakers. The HK yielded a "thicker" sound for both music and movies.

NVM... i nag research ako tungkol sa HK 1600. It does only pass-through.

From my research if the receiver is pass-through it can only pass video. So i need a separate audio cable sound.  That would my the back of my TV cluttered and not nice.
Is that what the pass-through of the HK1600 really does? only pass-out video?
Can anyone experience with the 1600 give the thoughts on this?

It can pass both audio and video through HDMI. No video upscaling capability though. No need for a separate audio cable if you are using HDMI. I'm using the Asian Version HKAVR160 right now.

Thank God. Its good to hear that you only need one hdmi direct to your tv.  Ang gulo grabe nababasa ko kasi sa ibang forums na older receiver with pass-through only pass hdmi video only.

ya know 1600 35 watts seems quite low, but is it?

Harman receivers are very under rated. That 35 watts would be as loud as a 80-90 watt Japanese receiver. Come by the shop to check them out. :)

+1 Although it has a low wattage claimed on paper, it shouldn't have any problem driving maintstream speakers. Unless you will be using hard to drive speakers that will certainly require beefier amp from midlevel to high end. Visit Marc's shop to hear them sing.

Older HK models that cannot pass through audio through HDMI are HK 245 & 445, but higher models w/ HDMI 1.1 version like the 645 & 745 can. HTH.

Base on my experience with Harman(AVR5500). It's good at everything music, HT and Gaming...

HK is a very powerful amp, ignore the low wattage in the spec..it will give more than what they stated in their specs..Weight na weight pa lang kita mo na agad eh...

One time I had to hand carry a Harman Kardon for about 2 blocks and my arms became sore and numb dahil sa sobrang bigat. It's solid heavy compared to other receivers.

i will have to listen to these receivers before i decide then.

i'm slightly leaning more to the denon because of the up-conversion features. i do have a lot of legacy hardware like my dvd players.

I think the harmans begin to shine when you get receivers 2600 and above.

I wish harman released a new set of receivers. the techs moving so fast and there being left behind
here are the features new recievers have:
internet radio, DLNA, airplay, ARC, connectable ipod dock(160 has no dock) support for android, standby pass-through and 3D.  ;D

Sir Sovrain, sa opinion ko bagay ang Polk Audio Tsi or RTi series sa Harman Kardon. Gamit ko Harman Kardon 160 with Polk Audio speakers and ok ang combination. Pwede mo naman audition different speakers sa HK so your ears can choose. When you bring your music files for audition, mag dala ka ng music na may solo vocals and minimal instruments kasi in those type of songs you can gauge how the speakers renders the vocals. I listened to many speakers, pag upbeat and fast disco type songs or fast RnB, the sound is okay. But when you play a jazzy vocal type songs, with solo vocals, the speaker did not render it well. Just pay attention to the details and separations and mga kalansing.

Ok lang if MP3 ang music mo as sometimes I also bring MP3. What is important is you are quite familiar with the music your bringing so doon ang basis mo if you like the sound or not. Bring the songs or movies that you often listen to or watch na kabisado mo na sila that will help you decide. Thanks

No problem Sir Sovrain. Reason is limited budget ako and wala pa yung special promo ng HK260 at that time I purchased the 160. Syempre mas gusto ko yung 260 if given a choice.
