hey guys some thing strange happen to my harman kardon. It just shutdown.
I connected my HK to my PC using a 3.5mm jack to RCA to the rear 7.1 RCA connector. I then installed some polk tsi100 and 16gauge cable. I set the volume to around -25. Its connected directly to a meralco.
I tested this set up late at night and the receiver shutdown. Later I turned it on again and it started working normally. I smelled burnt like smell whenever near it. Good thing the strange thing hasn't happened again. I feel concerned. Should I send it for a check up? :o

Yes better have your HK checked to be sure. My Harman Kardon is also connected via computer also using the 3.5mm jack to RCA. No problems of shutting down. ( knock on wood ) Only thing is my HK is plugged into a UPS AVR and not directly to the outlet. Though this may not be the solution.

Perhaps the speaker wires contacted each other or somehow got shorted?

One time I had to hand carry a Harman Kardon for about 2 blocks and my arms became sore and numb dahil sa sobrang bigat. It's solid heavy compared to other receivers.
ako naman hindi sumakit yakangyaka, I have to carry it on my shoulder though.Pagdating bahay nanginginig ako pag baba ng box.Whew....iniisip ko pano kaya pag nagkasunog..malamang ito una kong bubuhatin. Malalaki na kasi anak ko pwede nang tumakbo magisa ;D ::)

Also using HK 160. The surround back is not currently being used because of my small space. Only 5.1 is being used right now. I was wondering if the 2 free channels can be used to power 2 passive subs? I read somewhere that this is possible? Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Currently using pilyo amp4v2 for 2 passive 12 inch subs.

Thanks in advance.

just got my HK 160 and so far, i'm very happy with the sound. just one concern though; i'm using it with Wharfedale Diamond 9s (9.5, 9.cs, 9.sr) while source is from pch-a210 full BD-rips and I have to crank up the volume before i get to hear any sounds. volume range would be -20 to -8 db for the whole duration of the movie.

is this something i need to be concerned with?

e kapag ibang source (i.e dvd or BD), kelangan mo rin bang i-crank up yung volume? if not, baka yung mga BD-rips mo may problem ???

You need to use the calibration mic. :)
