Has anyone tried playing HD Divx files with firmware 2.10? I tried it, it wont recognized the file.

I've downloaded some 1280x720 DivX/XviD files. works fine on my PS3.

Which site did you download the HD Divx? Provide us the link so we can give it a try. :)

Similar to animated, HD Divx works fine in my PS3.

No problem bro! 'Been inquiring na, share ko na lang sa 'yo. I was actually supposed to get one last December, it was just sidelined by another interest, rather, another way to be insane hehe.

Cheers!!!

what's the codec? an AVI file is just a container kasi, and the PS3 only reads atm DivX certified AVI files

PS3 can crunch folding at a faster rate than say a single or dual core pc.

Finally got my PS3...40GB lang kasi my main reason for buying is the BR capability.
Second lang yung gaming...pili kasi masyado mga games na nilalaro ko.

I tried the Spider Man 3 -- that was included in the package -- on my Sammy 32".
Output is at 1080i and the quality was great! Way better than regular DVDs as well as those upscaled through my Pio DV600.

My problem right now is I only have 1 HDMI input on my sammy. So when I want to watch on mh Pio DV600 I have to remove the HDMI cable from the PS3 and move it to the Pio. I asked about HSMI splitters and it's a fortune!  :o Pwede ka na bumili ng isa pang DVD player!

So now I know...the next LCD/Plasma that I buy should have at least 2 HDMI input.

I'm using a 60 GB which is more than enough for me...so I guess it depends on your need. :)

60GB has already been phased out.  there may be some stores that still have stocks, but presently its the 80 and 40GB models
if your primary reason is to watch BluRay movies, then go for the 40gb
the 80gb would have software emulation for PS2 games

@choy tnx for the info. so the HD capacity is just for usual storage of your files right? it has no effect on the gaming n BD watching right? yup i dont intend to play PS2 games with it naman.

@jeyps11_c: wer did u buy your PS3 bro? tnx

kt,

Bought it in the US. Storage is mainly for saving games. Pero since you can surf using your console pwede na din mag-store ng downloads sa HD ng PS3. It's really like having a PC na may 40GB HD. But since my 1st priority is watching BR movies I opted for the lower model. KAsi yung 8MB dati sa PS2 hindi ko nauubos (not really a hardcore gamer).

sir choy,
Sent you PM :)

don't worry too much about the HD size, you can easily upgrade the HD with a 2.5" SATA (notebook) drive ^_^ but since the PS3 can already play mp3, divx/xvid files, well baka mapuno rin yan hehehe but you can always plug in a USB external drive
