ok, when the PS3 is on standby mode, press the power button on the front and hold it until it beeps and turns off, (it defaults back to the 480i search mode), then plug in your desired cable and turn in on again ^_^

Ah ok. Mali pala yung ginagawa ko -- now ko lang kasi na try.
What I was doing was -- green light --> press to red --> turn off then change cables (HDMI to Component).

Dapat pala:
Green light --> press power to red light --> press power for beep and off --> change cables (HDMI to component) --> turn on.
Will try this later.

Was able to finally change it...nagulat ako sa umpisa.
Sobrang panget nung PQ...nakalimuan ko hindi pa pala naka set-up.
So nasa 480i pa siya...sobrang labo.
Buti na lang may improvement when I set the video to 720p via component.
Pero may diff pa din pag HDMI.

I spent 4000 (package with so called cooler fans) to repair my 360 with this one guy and just after watching like 10 movies and I dont even play games during that time, it conked out again. Man m so furious >:(..Good thing under warranty pa from the guy. Thanks

I think thats the prob with playstations, the lens.

as i have read from the other forum...

"6. they advised not to watch too many bluray movies as this can shorten the lifespan of the bluray drive."...

"both are bluray format but whenever you are playing games, the lens does not work full time. most of the data is read during the loading and after that the lens is able to rest. for movies, your lens never gets to rest as it is constantly reading the data for the movie. kaya nga eh walang loading time yung movie eh bec its reading from the bluray the whole time."...

"make no mistake. the ps3 is a bluray player, but it is also a gaming machine. Id leave the responsibility of movie watching to an ever reliable bluray player like samsung or toshiba or something. these players are meant to do only one thing, play movies. although your ps3 can do the same thing, id be careful in letting it run long hours for movie playback."

just asking sir... how much time do you spend watching and playing to your console?
gaming = everyday? = 5 hours?
watching = everyday = 3 hours?... (sample only)

tia.

dark,

Ano nga yung Floding@Home? I was trying to set up an PS3 ID, kaso mahina WiFi ng PS3 ko.
Hindi nya na de-detect yung signal sa 2nd F (Nasa 3rd F yung PS3) kaya hindi ako maka-connect.

Want to experience the on-line capabilities of the PS3 (probably play Resistance FOM on line).

Sirs,

Im Planning to get a PS3 to play games and blu-ray discs but a bit confused with all the versions out there. Medyo nalilito na ako with the NTSC and PAL format plus others are described as US and Asian version.   No plans of using it as a DVD player but im concerned with the regional codes of the games and blu-ray disc kung meron.  If ever, I plan to buy games locally but source blu-ray discs stateside.

Any suggestion on the specific unit I should get? Thanks.

you don't need to get a US PS3 for US BDs kasi Region A naman ang Asian/US/Japan PS3, i doubt meron nag sell dito sa atin ng Europe or Australian PS3 which is Region B @_@, some are selling PAL units na Asian, pero some still buy it kasi cheaper and with HDTV paran multisystem na rin, pero i suggest NTSC nalang na unit para walang problem ^_^

@kt: hehe pwede na yata ma add ngayon, i was cleaning up my friends list, dami nag lalaro ng COD4 basta gabi ^_^ geraaaaa naaaa!!!!

same region A po ang US and asian models ng PS3 as far as BD is concerned...so no problems on both models

Region A:
North America, Central America, South America, Japan, Taiwan, North Korea, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.

But if you intend to play PS2 games on your PS3, Japan PS3 will only play NTSC-J (Japan) games.

yup also Asian PS3 only play NTSC-J PS2 games, but this doesn't matter if you are getting a 40GB PS3 coz walang PS2 backward compatibility to reduce cost ^_^

I suggest NTSC nalang to be sure ^_^, coz there was a discussion in pinoypsx.com that Singaporean PS3s are rebadged European PS3s, kasi daw bat naging PAL ang Singaporean na Asian country naman @_@

nope, PS3 games are Region free, online is no problem too, the only case I've seen is RFOM, a US RFOM doesn't play online on an Asian PS3, also DLCs (downloadable content) are region specific, like an Asian Folklore game would need DLCs from the Asian PSN, mas convenient kasi pag US PSN coz meron nag sell ng load sa pinoypsx.com pero if you are not particular about DLCs, mas cheaper talaga ang Asian version

I suggest also to read this thread, discussion about the diff. PS3s

Actually, the best para sa akin ung Asian ps3. Its cheaper. NO region locking in games, so all games pwede and same region with bluray with usa, japan, asia. Plus, it plays r3 dvd's so you can use the upscaling power of the ps3. It's like a bluray player and dvd upscaler and gaming console in one. Truly a wonderful machine. Kung di lang lumabas ung bd lens failure i won't worry much in using it as a dvd player all the time.  Kahit pirated ko gumagana eh.

Question: my PS3 is asian version, if I try to play a region 3 dvd, will it automatically upscale to 720p?

with the issue of playing dvds. depends narin kung what region yung mga dvds mo. if you're more into R1...edi US PS3
