PS3 games are region free, the BD coding of a Jap unit is the same as coding for US/Asian versions, yung DVD region lang ang problem kasi Region 2 ang Jap, and no Sony Phils. won't honor the warranty outside, you have to return it to where it was bought

walang official support ang sony ps3 sa country natin so any warranties are not honored even if you buy from here. Ayaw tayo support ng sony dahil mahilig daw tayo sa pirata.

dito ako ngayon sa Singapore. Bumila na ako ng PS3 sa wakas kasi mura pala dito. The price of PS3 40gb white ceramic version is only SGD 544 (PHP 15.3k) credit card pa ang gamit ko. Kung cash less 3% pa. Medyo panic buying na dito sa Singapore kasi kahapon na nagcanvass ako may mga units pa pero kanina last unit na.

Mas mura ba ang PS3 sa Japan? May relative kasi akong pupunta ng Japan, kung mas mura dun, baka magpabili ako. Pero hindi kaya bulky dalhin ito? And hindi kaya ito ma-tax sa customs?

Di ka nag option ng 2 or 3yrs to pay w/ out extra interest? Uso dito sa Singapore yun, kaya mabenta ang electronics.

guys I'm not a gamer so I don't know much about ps3 but I'm planning to buy soon. I have many questions some of them might have already been discussed in the previous pages but considering 30 pages na to, might as well ask na lang. Hope you guys can enlighten me.

1.) If i'll use the ps3 as hd player where would I plug a connection to my receiver (HK240, which does not have HDMI) to get 5.1 output? May coax ba ang PS3 for digital audio?
2.) For Video straight na from PS3 to my Panny 42PV70 via HDMI?
3.) What's the voltage of PS3 US version?
4.) Can I play standard DVDs on a PS3? Locked ba ang PS3 to any region so that hindi ma-play ang mga dvds available dito sa atin?
5.) How much nowadays and Blu-ray films? how about PS3 games?

try ko answer yung questions mo:
1/2. video: PS3--HDMI--plasma
audio: optical out to avr.
just set the PS3s audio n video outputs accordingly.

3. 110 yung sa US pero they say its autovolt...but i dont want to risk hehe may avr naman ako so 110 ko nalng

4. DVDs on PS3 is region locked. so if US PS3 ka...R1 lang kaya nya play.

5. bluray films meron mga 1t & up. PS3 games depends din sa region. mas mahal yung R1/US games pero konti lang price difference sa R3. usual bnew games nasa 2500-3t

wala ba unlock code ang ps3 to play all dvds?

I'm eyeing the ps3 primarily to play blu-ray films, parang bonus na lang sakin yung gaming, isa pa ang mahal pala ng games.

If you're in my shoes would you go for a ps3 as hd player or go for blu-ray players from samsung, sony etc?

btw, how much is the current pricing for ps3 in the us? yung 40, 60, 80gig versions?

bhongskie i bought the ps3 for both purposes din since gamer din ako. if you're main use is for BD...panalo n sulit parin may bonus ka pa pang gaming. meron naman free downloadable demo games eh hehe

US PS3 sa datablitz yung 40G nasa 22500 cash with free spiderman3 BD sya. yung 80G nasa mga 30t na yata

Sa US Fry's and Best Buy ang ok na stores to buy.
Pwede din sa GameStop (sa mga malls) -- kaso ingat ka kasi may mga used/refurb units ata dun.
Kung may time sis-in-law mo baka meorn CompUSA na mag c-clsoe na -- mas mura ang 40GB.
Got mine sa Fry's for $399 + tax. Lumabas mga 17K lang (ang charge ng credit card) with Spiderman 3 BR disc.

Buying from online stores is still cheaper than buying from brick and mortar stores. I've been to PC Richards, Best Buy, CompUSA, Walmart, Target, 6th Avenue and they can't beat Amazon's price. Just my 2 cents.

The only downside of buying on line is when it breaks down it'll be harder to have it fixed through warranty. Pero if you are using it here medyo useless naman na talaga ang warranty.

Of all the stores mentioned, I like Fry's the most. Its like going to electronics heaven - larger than your regular Best Buy or CompUSA and kumpleto from PC parts and car audio to Blu-rays and LCDs.

If you will buy PS3 in U.S. Best Buy have money back guarantee for US$56 for 2 years (international basedon my contract), just tell them your PS3 is defective no question ask they will refund your money & don't need to send your defective unit. Better than no good warranty. I bought one with speciall warranty, I'm sure my PS3 will die in 1 year time

I bought time crisis 4 game, wow very good! $75 with free Gun controller

Guys just try to get a warranty when you buy a PS3 if you can. There are some units whose lenses have given up on them already, and the numbers are going up.

So if you're really into movie watching and gaming isn't your thing, a standalone Bluray player would be my advice.
