LOL.   ;D   ;D   ;D

Yes, you have to remove the "plastic" covering at the ends of the cables.

At least yun lang pala.

Enjoy ur PS3.  :D

remember to address the sound to the optical cable sa sound settings menu, kung hindi, you wont be able to hear anything.

Hi BigMac,

You are definitely correct! I've been there last week and I also experienced the same Bogus.
The first store that I went to is near the entrance of Sim Lim Square and the transaction did not pursue same as with you kasi gusto ko unit lang. Di nga lang masyadong dramatic yung eksena ko kasi weekday nun wala masyadong tao. Dahil smart tayong mga pinoy siyempre di tayo paiisa.

But if you will look further and go to the fourth and fifth floor. There are game shops there (three shops) that really offers cheap PS3. I did bought a PS3 unit there at 15.3kPHP using credit card.

Spending the lenten break here in Sing and just came from Sim Lim kanina.  In the 2nd floor, PS3 20G is selling for P12k+ and the 40G was at P14k+.  Very cheap prices indeed!  Ingat nga lang...  ;)

PS3 BD-Live Firmware and Blu-ray Discs Due This Month

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced a late-March launch for the latest firmware upgrade for the PlayStation 3, which will bring BD-Live and a host of additional interactive capabilities to the console.

Dubbed Firmware Upgrade Version 2.20, it will bring BD-Live (aka Profile 2.0) to the PS3, enabling users to experience interactive features such as downloadable video content, ringtones, live "interactive movie-based" multi-player online gaming and more.

PS3 is selling like hotcake in Singapore. I was at Mustafa last week, they told me to comeback in the next few days cause they run out of stock for 15 days. Came back (post-cruise) on thursday and went straight to Mustafa. They only have white PS3, so I grab 1 unit for my brother @ 559 SGD less 7% GST.

Warranty card is 1 year thru Sony Singapore.

Are PS3's bluray player region locked? Since the Philippines and Hong Kong is on different regions, can I play BluRay discs bought in HK if the PS3 is bought in US or locally?

this may help you guys on your purchase decision for that ps3 unit. if its asian, region-a blu-ray, so you get to watch u.s. blu-ray. but for sdvd its r3. and if you buy the 40gb version, it uses the 65nm cell chip already (45nm coming???) well the big difference between 90nm and 65nm is the size of the chip, it runs cooler and cost cheaper for sony to manufacture hence the price drops.

hope this helps.  :)

Mga bosing,

Is it possible to connect Bose Companion5 usb (no rca connections due to its design for laptops)
to PS3 for audio output? Anyone here who already experience this? Am planning to buy the Bose.

Thanks po

technically pwede, since my usb naman ang ps3, ang hindi ko lang alam kung maconfigure mo sya once the na recognize ng ps3 yung bose. better bring your ps3 to the bose outlet para ma-test kung kaya nga. or call them muna, baka may nag balak na rin at hindi pwede talaga. para hindi sayang pagod.

Bro, no audio output via USB sa PS3. USB devices rely on 'device drivers' to convert the USB data signal into something else. In this case, audio.

You can check out the settings menu sa PS3, alang output via USB.

Can the hard disk of the PS3 be used like a network attached storage? Wherein I can store files in it using my PC through the network? And can it play downloaded divx and mkv files stored in its hard disk?

yes, using tversity software
yes, it can play divx files on its own or though tversity
no, it can't play mkv files yet... though you can convert mkvs to vob via mkv2vob converter then play the file in ps3  :)

tversity actually streams video and music to the ps3, as of now it is still not possible to save files from a pc to a ps3 through the network. I have tried mkv2vob for converting mkv files but had only success with mkv files using AC3 as their audio stream.

basically converts the media files into something the PS3 can read, and yes, kailangan fast network kasi nagstream siya, pero since nasa home lang no problems..

I've been using the PS3 to play bluray and hddvd 1080p encoded files.  This means tumigil na muna ako bumili ng mga 1k plus na bala and nag concentrate muna ako on downloading bluray and hddvd contents. Medyo matagal nga lang but what i do is leave my computer and extend my patience.  On a 24 hour scale downloading, nakaka 4 na titles ako, all are in the 8GB size and 1080p with 6 channel and DTS audio.. some may HD tracks.  convert to vob files and play it on a ps3.  As far as compared to the original discs, wala naman pinagkaiba sa pic.. siguro sa sound bahagya lang pero unnoticeable by the common ear.

on my 30th title of download na, then lahat nilalagay ko sa 320GB hard disk na inupgrade ko sa loob ng PS3 :)

kobe madali lng ba mag palit ng hd sa ps3? tangal kabit lng ba then press format sa systems menu? no need to install anything? If so bibili na rin me ng 320 sata 2.5" xternal hd. San site po kyu nakakapagdownload ng mga hi def files? Wat files are applicable to the ps3 w/o convertion? Wat i know d pa supported ang mkv files ng ps3 so it has to be converted to vob for the ps3 to recognize and play the video file.

kobe,

8GB lang yung 1080p? puros 720p lang yung nakikita kong less than 4-7GB e. pafeed back ng globe dsl please. i'm considering shifting to globe from pldt kasi 3MBPS nga yung plan 2000 ng globe. im only getting 1300kbps right now e, sayang din

john,

try using torrents w/ a private tracker. mas mabilis. nkaka 140-160KBPS ako pag ganun.

How long does it take to convert a mkv file (2hr movie) to vob?
