Would it be ok to have these:

Yamaha RX-V467
2 pairs of Polk TSi 200s (as front left, front right, surround left and surround right)
Polk CS10 (center)
Mirage S8 sub

for a small room HT setup?

how small is small? 10 sqm, 15 sqm? the gears you have chosen will serve you well. but my advise is to save up for a bigger sub. an 8 incher might not satisfy you long term.

Thanks

Depends on your budget bro and the receiver you'll use to drive the speakers.
(",)
If it's not a concern, then go for floorstanders.
I have a 3x3.5 space with RTi A3's on an Onkyo 509.
My space is filled at 85% volume.
Enough to silence the noise cOming from the pool area of our condo when there are parties.
I've also tried a T-amp with the RTi A3's and I have solid sound at 50-60% volume.
I think that when We move to a bigger place, I can simply get a bigger AVR and still maximize my speakers.
HTH!

Well I have a harman kardon receiver. If the bookshelves and sub woofer can still sound as good as floorstanders then i might as well go bookshelves. whats the point of floorstander anyway; only if you rooms big?

why not go visit a audio video store and demo a bookshelf + sub and a floorstander +sub.then make a decision if a bookshelf + sub is good enough for you

i went floorstanders because of the following reasons

1. i had the chance to get it at a very nice offer
2. i prefer listening to music without the subwoofer and the FS i got has the best review among speakers of
the same price range for audio listening.
3. it has a very small build and footprint so it does not occupy much space in my smallish room

there is not much of a gain from my bookshelf to my floor standers when we talk about movies as i set them to 80hz anyway and most of the LFE is being carried by my subwoofer at least from my listening capabilites. if not becasue of the very good offer, i wouldnt have shifted to floor standers as the cost is double my bookshelf. i would always go for a decent bookshelf and an excellent subwoofer.

people would have different opinions about this but to me, i find no value having an excellent speaker if its not matched by an excellent subwoofer

Floorstanders do not necessarily out perform bookshelves.  This is made all the more true since you have a "decent" sub.

I suggest you go to avshop and ask them to let you listen to various fronts.  Honestly speaking, for me at least, the RTi A3s give the other floorstanders I heard that are even twice their cost close competition, very close.

A bookshelf in combo with a good sub may actually be much better than a big floorstander. The reason is that you can optimize the location of the bookshelf for proper imaging and then optimize the location of the sub for bass. The optimal locations of each are normally very different.

In theory, this should be true for both movies and music ... but a lot of people may think otherwise.

In my case, I prefer the sound of my bookshelf speakers mated with a tube amp cabled to a TT, ipod playing lossless files and sacd player. The system image well, good for goosebump-inducing vocals. As to  HT, the slam of the THX Mordaunt Short towers with built in subs can't be touched by anything else I have.  :)

hi noob here... I just wanna asked about the LG HT805PM may binibenta kasi rito mukhang maganda siya dahil pwede siya saksak ng optical at maganda raw ang sounds. Ang problema ko lang kung ginamit toh sa games like call of duty black ops maririnig mo ba ang mga footsteps ng kalaban san nang gagaling. Anyone has use this speaker sa gaming?

^ no! most amps are destroyed by overloads caused by speakers in parallel.

Recently upgraded my speakers from Wharfes to Polks. I already have new TSI 400 fronts and CS20 center powered by my trusty onkyo 609. In completing my 7.1 set up i have been looking at the following choices for the rears:

4 TSI 100's plus i'll just buy speaker stands (17,000 + 5000 for the stands, 22k total) or
2 TSI 100's plus 2 OMW3 (17,000 + 2500, 19,500.00 totaL) or
2 TSI 200's and 2 TSI 100's plus speaker stands (21,000 + 5000 for the stands 26k total) or
2 TSI 300 plus 2 TSI 100 plus speaker stands (16,500 + 8,500.00 + 2,5000, 27.5k total) or
2 TSI 300 plus 2 OMW3 (16,500 + 8,500.00, 25k total)

I have a dedicated HT room at around 22-24 sq.m. Iniisip ko lang kasi the amount of the bookshelves plus the stands is almost the same as the floor standers that is why I considered also another floorstander for my side surrounds. Also planning to upgrade my amp in the near future, maybe an onkyo 809....

If you had this problem which will you choose as the surrounds, budget is within all the options I just want a value for money set up and surrounds to match well with my fronts and center...

Is the upgrade to floostanders as surrounds with the small difference in price worth the extra power of the speakers and or will the bookshelves be fine just using as surrounds...

Your opinions and suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance mga gurus...

question lang mga sir re bi wiring..is there really a difference between these two setups?

and

based on the above pics will there really be a difference or let's say an improvement if you bi-wire or just plainly using the supplied bridge/link of the speakers? di ko kasi maintindihan ang logic eh kasi on both setups iisa lang naman ang source sa ampli eh..thanks!

a total newbie sa speakers mga bossing. I just want an advice sa decent set-up, for audio listening lang. room is around 10sqm lang. wala pa talaga akong gamit (speaker, amp, player) kasi sobrang newbie lang talaga ako sa speakers. plan ko po is PC ang source. i also have a wide range of music preference (rock, jazz, house, etc.) so I'm not sure if there's a speaker that could cover all of them. pero majority naman ng music ko is rock (incubus, deftones, up dharma down, taken by cars, foo fighters, etc.). budget nga pala is 10k-15k and might push to 20k if ever. highly appreciate ko po help niyo. thanks!
