correct me if im wrong but the .2 indicates the number of sub. so 7.1 means one sub and 7.2 means 2.

tumpak. hence, a 7.2 channel receiver means that it can drive 7 satellite speakers (LCRFront+LRsurr+LRsurr back/front high/front wide) plus 2 subwoofers

am into movies, maybe 5% music..  for a 7.2 setup, you need 2 subs?

7.2 receiver has two subwoofer LFE pre-outs so you have the "option" to use two subs, but even if you only have one sub pre-out you can just use a Y connector to connect to two subs.

hi everyone a newbie here but i have been reading posts here for a while and have learned a lot of things,,, question..what speakers would fit best a marantz 4500 like fronts center and rear and sub? is this rcvr worth it for its price?because to tell you guys the truth i have to work my a** off just to buy the things i want so i have to choose carefully before i buy it that is why i am asking you guys i want to get more out of my hard earned money. i am 24 years old and wanted to start my "itch" that i got from my dad in regards to music and sounds but i am not into high end parts thou just an entry level that is "ok" for me will do since i don not have the money for it....

this is what i am thinking

pioneer dv-610av?
marantz 4500? or harman kardon? within 20k budget?
what speakers would be great?sub?

If you have a smallish room, the following items might suit you (5.1):
2 pairs Polk M10 (bookshelves)
1 unit Polk CSM (center)
1 unit Polk PSW110 (sub)

Contact avshop (Marc) for a quote. If you already have a receiver, take it with you to see if it'd match well with these items. In the end, you should put the most weight on how you like the resulting sound. Best of luck with your endeavor. :)

woo nice... so how good is this set for movies and video games?
will an entry level let say an onkyo 308 be enough for this set up?

The Polk Audio M series is really design more for movies and video games then for music.
The M series will work well even with modestly powered entry lever receivers.

Great. hows the sound quality of the M series compared to the blackstones?
There is so many choices for speakers, it can get confusing.

Sir, I also have a 606 and I'm using it with QAcoustics 1030i, 1010i, 1000C, and 1000Si. 100% for movies only, good performance pero di ko gusto tunog nya for music :D

Go to AVshop sir, I'm sure Marc can accommodate you. They might also have a 606 so you don't need to bring your receiver... May Polk Audio at B&W dun, you can compare them side by side  ;D

Anu ba magandang Speaker/Amp combo mainly for music lang? 2.0 setup sana and for 15"x10" bedroom size. budget 40-50k. Analog source will be from a Musical Fidelity V-Dac connected through a USB port from a PC.

Kung mas mura mas OK :D

Oh yeah, i need to add that near-field ko gagamitin ito. Much like desktop speakers.

My room has a hanging ceiling (yung tipong parang pang opisina wherein nasusundot pataas yung tiles ng ceiling; i dunno their proper name) so kung may comments din kayo tungkol sa room resonance i would welcome them.

How bout a cheap NAD integrated amp paired with the LSI 7?

Sobra sa budget kasi kung A5VL + LSI 7 eh. (Except nalang kung may pre-owned na bargain :D)

Pero it looks promising. Oh well ipon nalang muna ako onti. Thanks.

Sir you can also look into an A-9555 with the LSi7. The A-9555 is significantly cheaper than the A-5VL. It has 200w at 4ohms.. it can easily drive the LSi7.

Hey Louie_18!

We have almost the same setup!

I'm planning to get the OWM3's para it's Polk all the way.

Check it out, I think it's almost the same price.I could have gotten the cheaper M10, but these speakers are easier to mount and "hide" from view.

Here's the link: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/owm/specs.php

Can somebody recommend a good, musical, subwoofer. Preferrably an 8-incher specifically for music only; with Left and Right RCA inputs.

Budget: only up to 7k :(

Di ko alam kung saan thread ko to itatanong kaya I thought dito na lang  ;D

Ano ba ang consequences pagcombined ang 4ohm and 8ohm speaker rating sa isang AVR?

Thanks  ;)
