I think sound dimension in park square has the B&W DM 303 bookshelf speaker for 15k, and the center is about 10k.

Read review for new B&W 683. Critics say's it good. Can anyone comments on this, as audio critics can sometime's be biased.

Change my mind. Just bought a pre-owned Vandersteem 2C Sinature. The Vans are in mint condition & still under warranty. I can say that it was a great buy, considering that the price of a brand new. The music coming out from tha Vans is far more better than my previous Evo 40 & Pacific Pi 10 set up.

please recommend a floorstander speaker that is easy to drive, wide soundstage, detailed and to be used in a small room. most probable partnering equipment is an onkyo 605. tnx.

Best pair for a Rotel RMB 1075
« Reply #765 on: Nov 28, 2007 at 08:26 PM »
hi guys!

aside from b&w, what could be paired with the 1075? it will be used for music only. currently, i'm using a paradigm monitor 7 paired with the yamaha rxv2095 (used as pre amp) + the rotel. i'm happy with the digms actually but only for ht. i feel (is hear the better word?  ;D) that something is lacking with the m7 when used for audio. at rotel's site, i see that they use b&w, but i'd rather ask first before indulging!

thanks for any feedback!

There are really a lot of different speakers to choose from out there, aside from whats already in your list, you can try aurum cantus, era speakers, vandersteen, castle speakers, dali, epos, dynaaudio, triangle, proacs and a lot more out there.

Try going to audio shops and listen to their speakers because eventually it will depend on your preference.  A lot of speakers may sound good, but its your taste that would have to decide for you. (gasgas na linya na ito, hehe) pero yun ang katotohanan.

good luck hunting for your new speakers, let us know which one you finally get to choose.

I am using Rotel 985 (por keeps, porever! ;D). They worked well with Mission M5 series and I also used it with Dynaudio (plus tube pre amp) for audio. I discovered the Rotels are a bit on the bright side (great for HT) when I changed to a hybrid integrated amp.

With the Rotels, I found the M5's better for HT (even better than dyns IMhO) & the dyns were just awesome for music.

hi guys!

what speaker would you recommend for audiophile? ang magddrive is a hybrid amp na DIY. i prefer hindi mashado matining yung highs nya and then sakto lang yung bass. BS would be enough maliit lang naman yung place. basta andoon yung crisp and yung soundstage.. and yes, i will try to audition for it.  ;D prices naman kung meron < 15k the better or < 30k ok lang... 2nd hand ok lang rin. hehe

Unfortunately almost all the good speakers out there are now China Made - Wharfedale, Mordaunt-Short, Jamo, Tannoy, B&W, etc.  Thanks to the phenomenon called outsourcing.  You are probably referring to local distributors.  Not all distributors are customer driven.  Forget about 5th Ave for one.  But the local distributors of B&W are customer-driven.

Even if branded speakers are outsourced to reduce labor cost, it doesn't necessarily mean prices of the speakers will be reduced significantly.  As per mentioned by the owner of Sound Dimension, B&W's from China are priced the same as the old models from UK.  Perhaps B&W are enjoying higher mark up with its speaker line made in China and no price changes for the consumers.
