HERE ARE SOME SCREENSHOTS THAT I HAVE CAPTURED

Shots were unmodified except for resizing. These shots do not do justice to the projector. I was able to pause the King Kong scenes but the Ice age 2 images are in real time. this resulted in less than sharp images. Maybe you have to factor in another 15% sharpness for the actual resolution of the PJ

Calibration was done using Datacolor Colorfacts 6.0

spectacular texture and detail!!! the three dimensionality you look for HD is in full display...especially in the Kong scenes. Great purchase on this PJ kong Alvin!!! Ice Age 2 looks great too!!

I guess the PS3 will be tops in my 2007 wishlist with the 1080 PJ a year or two away for me....

PS3 and Hd-A1 via HDMI. PS3 at 1080p/60 passthrough the Anthem AVM50. The HD dvd was at 1080i/60 deinterlaced by the Gennum processor of the AVM50.

how much does this projector cost? Is this better than than the panasonic AE1000? Im really not into projectors but my dad needs to buy one in a day or two at the most. We need your help. thanks

I got it from Hong Kong, not yet available locally. I am not sure if the ptae1000 is available already. Main advantage is glass optics, brighter and has HQV video processing. You have to consider that all PJ will loose some brightness , around 30% after 300 hours or so. Do not rely on published specs on brightness, they are very misleading. Better yet read some reviews from projector review and projector central.

Is the VP Anthem AVM50 avaialble locally or thru overses? What is the expected cost for this unit? Regarding the AVM50 for comparison, is there a big difference in PQ if used?

Anthem is available locally. Same distributor as Paradigm, Proac, Q acoustics, etc.

Panasonic AE1000 is OUT! Saw it at LIS, PQ is WHOW in 1080p bluray @ over 120"!

No you can't. PS3 supports Blu-ray only while Xbox 360 can play HD-DVD (provided it has the add-on).

hey, sir alvin. You've got wow shots. You really know your art. I like the pics in king kong, the greys in the skyline are great though you can see dithering on the buildings. Overall, they are awesome.

The HC5000BL retails at around $4500 in the States. Is it cheaper in Hong Kong where you said you bought it? May I ask how much did you take it home for? Where exactly in HK? Are there any taxes and duties encountered bringing it home?

I got it from Anew digital HK via Ebay for 3429 US. Shipped it through DHL. Got slapped with a 9000 peso custom duty.The price is very close to what I paid in shops in HK according to a friend working there.
