is it true? i heard they'll be airing the GTO (live action) series on GMA this march. the anime was so funny, but the live action series was better IMO because it's more emotional and had a better ending. btw, was the anime aired at all in the phils?

yes, the anime was shown in "tagalized" version but IMO the dubbing wasn't that good.

i do hope that the dubbing in the live series would be better than the anime.

Is this Great Teacher Onizuka? The complete GTO series (43 episodes) was aired several times on Animax from the time the cable network premiered; when Animax switched to English dubs, GTO was one of the series that was never dubbed--it always aired with the original Japanese voice cast and english subtitles, which was great.  A tagalized version will probably sound the same like all other tagalized animes--crap.

i hope the GTO live-action series, drama special, and movie will be given a dvd boxset treatment

A character like GTO could only work, IMHO, in an anime. Yung mga facial expressions at yung actions nya, di maka-capture ng live-action version. Saw a movie version of GTO and it made me glad that I watched the anime first.

i agree, the facial expressions of onizuka in the anime is priceless. this is actually a major reason why i watched it  if i remember correctly, onichi at the live-action series didn't use it much. but it was more during the drama special and the movie, which looks stupid. however, the live-action series did have a better story, especially the ending IMO, than the anime.

the movie sucks though    and the drama special was just ok... nice of them to base the lead character to kanzaki

I also agree that the anime was better than the live-action version.  Here's a suggestion for GMA7, how about just placing Tagalog subtitles and retaining the original audio?  I think it would be more economical and would be a better experience instead.

i remember my first complain upon hearing the live-action was they'd never copy onizuka's facial expressions in the anime. but you'll learn to love the character. and still can't get the poison theme song out of my head 

i doubt GMA or ABS would risk ratings by airing a foreign series in its original audio. nde pang-masa eh    i remember when i was a kid, i like to collect the Ghost Fighter series, but the dubbed version. it was only when i joined pinoydvd that i learn to appreciate original audio and reading subtitles
