mhore,
listening (mine) impressions on your 12BA6 tube buffer:

1. at initial power on and application of audio signal, not so good to my prefferences, so the cathode R is reduced from 2.36K to finally 560R.

2. Now smooth as silk, "grainy" sound is gone, warm & sweet now.

3. tried the Credence Clearwater cd, takes me back to the "flower people" days ;D ;D ;D the time when no effects or synthesizer is used in their electric guitars.

driving the JLH 1969 class A dual rail amp.

driver tube at work

there is a big diffrence with & without the buffer on the JLH:

Without tube buffer- sterile/neutral sound, cold sounding, typical of a SS amp.

with tube buffer- Warm & Sweet, once you listened with the buffer on, you"ll never listen without one.

this is my own opinion, you have to try it yourself.  ;)

Sir Efren,
Eto na yung tube buffer na gawa mo. Without tube buffer, parang medyo sakal ang tunog, parang muffled ang sound, but with the buffer, na enhance yung sound quality, crisp siya. overall performance is ok. malapit na sa tube sound ;D ;D.

jlh amp + tube buffer (all of these are free courtesy of pareng Efren  ;D promise ;D) + marcopilyo sub amp.

i tried smaller speaker, lalong naging crisp yung sound. i compensate it by my sub amp para balance.

Pare natulog ako habang NAKIKINIG  ng Nat King Cole sa 6F6G SE  Tube Amp mo kahapon sa inyo. Parang kinakantahan ako sa harap ni Nat King Cole. :D :D :D

the only improvement on your DIY set up now i think is you speakers. Use an efficient drivers to truly enjoy your hybrid set-up :)

To tell you the truth, hindi ko alam ang magiging resulta ng 12BA6 tube buffer, kasi rf tube siya at detector ang function, no mention in the NJ7P tube data  as a audio driver tube. Anyway maganda pala ;D ;D ;D

Next in line is a 6SJ7 tube buffer to drive a gainclone AN214Q or a Germanium Solid State amp, depende kun alin ang mas mauna at more available ang parts. Wish me luck ;)
