"300" R3 (July 13, 2007)
« on: May 23, 2007 at 12:50 AM »
Just spoke to a Warner rep at Astroplus yesterday afternoon.  300 will be due in July and it will be released in three versions.  The rep did say something about a P1200 Steelbook version with a comic book.  I'll try to get more details.   :)

Edited by Moderator to add (from duncanfranchise's later post):

Just got an update from the Warner rep.  300 will be out on July 10 and will be released in three versions.  The said versions are as follows:

1.  2-Disc Widescreen Version w/ "The Art of 300" book = P750.00
2.  2-Disc Widescreen Version in Steel Case w/ "The Art of 300" book = P1250.00
3.  2-Disc Widescreen Version w/ "The Art of 300" book plus a Spartan Helmet mini-replica = P1250.00 (Excluded from pre-booking promo.)

Warner is offering a pre-booking promo from June 22 up to July 8.  Pay a P200 deposit and:

1.  2-Disc Widescreen Version w/ "The Art of 300" book = P750.00 P650.00
2.  2-Disc Widescreen Version in Steel Case w/ "The Art of 300" book = P1250.00 P1050.00

Click here to avail of this discount promo online c/o pinoydvd.biz, or proceed to your nearest Astrovision/Astroplus branch to make a reservation.

Most probably in these versions:

1. The regular 2-disc editions

2. The 2-disc Deluxe Edition (with slipcase probably with lenticular covers and a comicbook)

3. The steelbook (containing the deluxe edition in steelbook case)

I hope the local release won't disappoint any of us who are expecting a lot from this feature. Warner has only disappointed me once...(The Departed R3 steelbook missing the Scorsese docu), but it definitely won't change my mind in getting at least one local release...kahit na for viewing purposes lang. ;) Let's hope that they do release this in a steelbook or at the very least, in a lenticular slipcase ala Batman Begins & Corpse Bride DEs.

Crossing my fingers... ;D

I prefer a simple 300 logo embossed on a tin packaging and let the inlay have the graphics.

According to Cris of Astro, there will be a steel case release of 300 and priced P1250. Me kasama pa yatang comic book iyon. She was right about the Departed tin case before &I hope she's right about this one as well.

The price is a little expensive...

I don't get it cause "The Departed" was a lot cheaper, are they using like a diffrent type of metal or something?

Must be the comics.  If that's the complete Miller comicbook in glossy color pages, even if scaled down to DVD steelbook size, then 1250 might be ok.

If it's indeed priced P1250, then whatever bonus supplement it has should be worth it. It's a little strange for Warner to price a single title like that. Hopefully, no missing features unlike The Departed and sana mas bumaba pa sa P1250.
