I agree.  By adjusting the settings per mode, it's possible to get the same picture, equivalently calibrated, regardless of mode.

i tried the cinema but its a bit too dark for me. im now on dynamic mode but all setting are less than half due to break in period. ...

IMHO, the recommended midpoint or below midpoint settings for break-in purposes apply only to the standard mode.  Using the dynamic mode for break in purposes will require you to lower the settings even further below midpoint.

Guys, am not so much worried with burn-in or whatever. I watch DVD movies as it is (letter boxed or not), although shades of dark is different as after effect,  but will disappear when watching TV in full screen.
Mine is made in Singapore. he he he.  Enjoy parin, teka mukhang mas ok yung 50PV..

Panasonic opened new factory in malaysia and china also. They plan to manufacture 100,000 mix plasma's monthly. Cheaper cost from china. ;)

that is why new stocks new price new deal. ;D how low can you go. ;)

Yup. ;)  most of the 50pv70 and all 42-50pv700 is made in japan, they are a little bit heavier compared to china units. But most important it's still panasonic plasma, not a Copied unit from china. hehehe ;D

There's an existing plant in Shah Alam outside of KL which including its extension to facilitate the LCD production. Not sure for the new Plasma plant tho.

rx330 are you a Malaysian or working in Malaysia lang? :)

Bro jeff,

thanks ganda ng panasonic pv70.
here's my review: factory settings pa lang.
1st setup  with  pioneer 686 using ordinary RCA, progressive scan at pioneer.
using r3 movies- US marshall ,widescreen matted picture is ok but there is some seens
na medyo parang cloudy,i dont know if that is the right term or grainy.
2nd movies r3 - the bourne supremacy ,anamorphic widescreen, less yung cloudy picture nya.
3rd movies  r3- the fugitive , standard , mas cloudy ,havent check the dvd kung dvd9 nabili lang ng sale.

2nd setup- with my toshiba hda1
sddvd r1 - training day at 720p using HDMI ,picture is ok

hddvd - the hulk at 720p , picture is very good & u can see the difference with standard dvd at 720p.
at 1080i hindi ko makita differenece.

question lang po,
when watching fullscreen SDDVD at hddvd, there is black bars in left & right.
but when watching in pioneer 686 no black bars at left & right.the picture is full screen. The setup
of pioneer is already 16:9

congrats kt on your purchase!!! from the other threads here at Pdvd others suggest that mga 100 hrs break in time, others naman did 150 hours. I bought mine (although diff brand) last June pa and i have not finished the break in  ;) ;) mostly during weekend lang kasi ko nagagamit  ;D some says naman na no need to break in kasi these plasmas are based on new technology so wala ng masyado burn in problems. Try to adjust the setting sa lowest possible. Mine puro naka 0 yung brightness etc. Pero to be honest ang linaw pa din  ;) Try to avoid also the 2.35 aspect ratio not unless yung dvd player mo has a screen fit mode. Yung Pio 600 zoom mode so i use my Samsung HD841 most of the time. hope this helps  ;)

bro how do you compare the upscale component connection of samasung over pioneer 600 tru hdmi?
im lookung for  samsung hd 841 to upscale using component video for my r3 dvd.
thanks

How's the PQ of the 42PV70 when watching cable channels?

unfortunately cable tv reception sucks. in my case sky is really grainy. some channels are more bearable. although i haven't tried digbox yet.

check the previous pages and you will see screen shot comparisons between 720 and 1080 resolution. since the source is standar def, you will hardly notice any difference between the 2. in my case using an upscaling dvd, i just use 720p.
