well... maybe because this unit has "serious image retention"?!?  Remember, PIP is enclosed in a  rectangular line box, which is fixed on the screen; it is a very likely source of image retention. 'just my wild guess.   ;D ;D

Our Malaysian friend noticed image retention after playing a PS3 game:

btw, guys, wats the purpose of break in 100-200hours? no more burn in/image retention?
as yesterday i was playing heavenly sword for quite a while, maybe 40-80 minutes, later i actually notice there is burn in, i could see nariko's health bar if i stand in front of the tv, its not very very obvious, but definitely its there

will it go off by itself?

Madam tonedeaf also noticed IR after viewing Kung Fu Hustle:

^ same thing happened to me when i watched Kung Fu Hustle. I was forced to watch it with the black bars otherwise I wouldn't be able to understand the movie without the subtitles.

When I finished the movie, the color of the black bar on top was darker than the center portion of the screen where the movie was shown. Also, the portion of the black bar at the bottom where the subtitles were shown was considerably lighter than the other parts. When I switched to tv programming (full screen), the burn-in disappeared after a while.

scared the crap out of me. haven't watched with the black bars since.  at least until i finish the 100 bars burn in. ;D

In both cases, no prior break in was performed.

For those who have performed and completed a proper burn-in period on this unit, please post your IR observations.

Hehehe... guys its nothing worry about its not permanent, same as our eye when your in the dark for quite sometime and suddenly you see a bright light towards you, you'll be blinded for a short time but it will go away. When it happens to your plasma play a film for 30 mins to an 1 hour and the IR will be gone. I play a lot games on my 65 at the office and 50pv70 at home, this base on experience since the release of the famous sony ps2. Try visiting my shop at Trinoma and play ps3 for a couple of hours you'll see. ;)

good morning to all! ;D

I got mine already!
got it sa listening  megamall.
Like what they said sulit tong plasma na to. Sarap manood ng dvd's!

Anyway question lang regarding this unit...
I've read na ang hdtv eh 1280x720 ang resolution pero ito eh 1024x768, someaning hindi ito hdtv?
bali EDTV ba ito? And is this HD ready?

thanks!

Sir, hindi po real HD yung 42pv70. 1080p-ready lang.
Pero ok naman ang quality e.

Yung full HD (1080p) panasonic models lalabas na this month or the next.

Hi! I have this model also, and had that exact question a few days back. Long story short, hindi sya HD, or should I say not-quite-HD.

So far, the most satisfactory explanation I've had is the response of pchin below.

tonedeaf, the minimum HDTV standard is 720p or 1280 x 720 = 921,600 pixels to be exact. Thus, your HDTV set with its native resolution of 1024 x 768 = 786,432 pixels is short of the minimum HDTV standard. Tho it's not true 720p but it still looks good as the resolution is 2.5 times as compared to a standard 640 x 480 TV.

for additional discussion, may I refer  you to this thread:
