Isa pa ito ... turntable? Ayoko. Masyado mahal, lalo na ang bala, and I don't think I will appreciate it.

Actually icing on the cake na lang yang TT....just in case you decide to pero since you are not.....

Yes, but the problem is the amp. Meanwhile, either large (with music) or 80 Hz with movies.

 ;D

Seriously, that is the best sounding speaker I heard during the last 2 HiFi Show's at the Mandarin. Alam mo ba senor Mark kung ano amp gamit nila during the show?

Hehe.  ;D

You are only partially correct.

1000 watts @ 4 ohms. Yun ang matibay and value for money. Meanwhile, ingat ako when watching movies or heavy orchestra.

I think that my speakers sound at least as good and probably even better than during the Hifi show. Magugulat ka cuz you will hear things you never heard before. PM mo lang ako.  :)

I had a great time sir Mark thanks for inviting me over.

Here's my short impression: With just the 2 speakers playing, the room was effortlessly filled w/ crisp, detailed sound, smooth and not shrill. Walang overdone na high frequencies kaya sarap makinig. Very natural sounding lalo tunog ng drums and the imaging is great. Depth is well-defined compared to the Elektras parang 3D itong Maestro. The separation of every instrument is more distinct.

Tama ang sabi ni Setup . . . pwede na uli i-feature sa Jessica Soho. :o  :o

Congrats sir mark! parang marriage made in heaven ang Dream theater + Utopia  :D

Thanks for the review, Luther! It's truly an incredible speaker and it seems to be a perfect match for the room. :)

Nope. The Grande Utopia is 7 feet high and is recommended for rooms with a minimum area of 65 square meters. My room is around 45 square meters. It's too big ... and too expensive.  ;D

I have a Maestro Utopia which is 58" high. It's just right for the room. Not too big, not too small. The AV Driver tech has installed a Grande Utopia and he said the Maestro, in my room, sounds even better. I'm sure that's because of my acoustic treatment and the electronic room correction.

Sir Mark,

I know that I'm not in the position to comment, but I have a very silly idea. ;D How about situating your upcoming monoblocks right beside each speaker for maximum damping? Something like the AVP-A1HDCI connected to these amps via balanced interconnects (XLR) should minimize losses. That's an extreme setup to match those superlative speakers.

Sorry, I was just thinking aloud. :)

I have designed my system precisely for BOTH music and ht. So far, I have been using it mainly for stereo and multi-channel music ... and the AV Driver tech (who has owned 5 Sonus Faber speakers) says that it's close to the best that he has ever heard among 2-channel rigs.

With regard to the amp, please read the ff article. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_4_4/aragon8008bb.html

Having said that, I feel that this amp doesn't have enough power so I will likely upgrade it. Nevertheless, at normal volumes, the amp has no problem whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the Denon 4311 doesn't have balanced outs. In any case, I don't really think there's a problem, given that I'm using gauge 10 speaker wire.

That's also true, sir. Those wires are beefy enough for most situations, plus the processing can make up for changes in response from DF change. I'm just a bit OC with DF (I know a lot of people don't believe in this).

This is what I was thinking: AWG 10 copper speaker wires will have a total resistance of about 1 ohm per 150m (To/From). A 30m run would be about 0.2 ohm. Given that the wire impedance would be stable at 0.2 ohm across the frequency range: If the speaker's impedance drops to 2 ohms in certain ranges, there would be times when the DF might get as low as 10 (even with a perfect amplifier). If the wire runs between speakers are of widely different lengths, then this can cause minute differences in output (OC mode again).

Hehe. When I first installed the wires for the front speakers, more than 12 years ago, I made sure that they were of the same length. I really don't think it matters much and so it's likely not audible but if it doesn't cost much, doing it doesn't harm you either.  ;D ;D

Lately, I've been busy playing with the Oppo BDP-80, primarily for the digital SACD output (in either DSD or PCM) and the flexible video outputs (for example, it's one of the very few players wherein you can select Color Space). This is the first time I've heard digital multi-channel SACD output and I think it's pretty awesome. Another different experience in Listener Envelopment.

This is the best-sounding system I've heard so far (in fairly recent memory):

This is a straight Bryston setup driving Scala Utopia speakers in the 2009 HiFi Show (picture borrowed from WS).

I'm sure sir Mark's Maestros won't disappoint any attendee this Saturday. :) Have fun guys. :)
