Geez...mura talaga sa US.  :o

Now that Toshiba's cheapest HD DVD player already starts at $198...what will happen to the Chinese Venturer once it's launched? Around $170 or even lower??  ::)

The $198 HD-A2 at Wal-Mart is only meant for walk-in customers.

To avail at this cheap price, you will have to get someone from US to assist. :)

It is the friday after thanksgiving, it's the one and only day where you can buy most o the items at low prices. Bagsak presyo talaga especially the one in the morning.People line at outside the store as early as 10pm prior store opening to be the first one to buy.Biggest sale of the year and the beginning of the christmas shopping season in the US.To make it short gastos!! ;D

HD DVD performance
We started off our HD DVD performance test with the HD-A30 in 1080p mode and took a look at Silicon Optix's HQV test suite on HD DVD. The first test we looked at was the video resolution loss test, and the HD-A30 failed. It did not display the full resolution of the test pattern and the image was unstable at many locations. As a point of reference, we run this same test on all HDTVs we test and almost every HDTV passes this test without any problems. We also looked at the film resolution loss test and saw the same result--loss of resolution and an unstable image. The second part of the test pattern, consisting of a panning shot of Raymond James stadium, had some moire in the grandstands, although not as much as we were expecting given the test pattern failures.

The issue is clearly with the HD-A30's 1080p processing. When we flipped the HD-A30 into 1080i mode, the JVC LT-47X788 had no problem properly deinterlacing the signal. Of course, that's the other side of the argument--if your HDTV has good 1080i deinterlacing you can set the HD-A30 to 1080i mode and avoid the HD-A30's lackluster 1080p performance. But if you're going to leave the player in 1080i mode, you might as well save yourself a few bucks and get the HD-A3.

Yo!

Finally, was able to hook it up yesterday. Tosh A30 -- Yamaha 670 (audio = opticable, video = component) - AX100 (component).

I will not describe the experience in a superlative manner  ;D but indeed way, way better than SD. I can now (again, finally) relate to what the others are saying.

First movie = Four Brothers (DTS). I noticed a clearer audio and better surround/effects projection. On the video, yeah, it's definitely clear. Wifey took notice of it. I also noticed that black is blacker (cop's coat).

Plan to buy later another Opticable for my SD player and "borrow" a video (component) cable. I'm thinking of comparing an SD movie and HD-DVD I have.

How 'bout you (Mouldingo)?

Cheers!!!

Just happy that I can finally watch the movies on the other side of the HD pond. Though the biggest complaint is the rather long wait for the machine to initialize and for the disc to play. Naka HDMI cable to my Yamaha RX-V2700. The video is set to "Up to 1080P/24hz" and naka audio out ang PCM. All hooked up to my 65" 1080P Panny Plasma  ;D ;D ;D Talagang HD nirvana...

HD-A3 was on backordered status when I checked it on Bestbuy site yesterday, but luck is on my side as my friend from LA was able to picked it up from store :) Yipee!

I just ask him to test the 300 disc, as per AVSForum some of the members have problem playing this disc.

This was really a GOOD DEAL! and you can have it price match after 30 days, since sure na price will be lower during the Thanksgiving sale :) so sulet talaga!
