ok talaga mga 5.1 music souce kaso limited rin naman mga music na gawa sa ganun "sacd or dvd audio". Medyo tinamad ako gumamit ng 5.1 "AVR Receiver" at bumalik sa 2.0 or 2.1 setup dahil most of sources are stereo lang naman talaga . DIY lahat ng gamit ko ngayon, minsan naka on or off yung sub ko depende sa trip ng tenga ko hehe. Currently using 2 floorstander and 2 8inch sub.

by the way, i just finished pseudo-bi-amping my floorstanders...  hayop! lalong luminaw ang highs and mids, at mas may oomph.  may mga details akong naririnig ngayon na wala dati.  may setup goes like this now...

laptop (flac files) > usb cable > superpro dac 707 > custom cable with silver rca's > hk255 > preout > same cable and silver rca > pioneer a209 > speaker a output > custom cables > top biwire input of floorstander
                                        > speaker b output > custom cables > lower biwire input of floorstander

lalong sumarap ang listening experience using sir anthony's floorstanders.  Galing.

kahit nga B&W and the likes of paradigm A audio speakers can compete. and dont forget to think of the price factor, 5 to 8k versus at least 30 or 40k speakers? san ka pa.

i am also of the mindset that if it is good for music, then it would be also be great for movies.

I've always been an advocate of that thinking - somehow it gives that "organic" sound in dialogues

ayus lang sir, heto nagpipigil gumastos. for the BS, I am extremely happy with it! for sloorstanders medyo di ko pa nakukuha full potential, my belied is kapos sya sa power na nabibigay ng yamaha 363 ko eh. the center Im also happy with it. Yung sub I can say medyo bitin ako, galing kasi ako sa 15" na eh. Im longing to have an SVS, promise hahaha

Does your yamaha have any preouts? Kung meron, try to borrow a 2ch poweramp tapos try mo yung 2 FS.
Sa sub naman - try mo din maglipat ng locations, baka mag improve.

Yung last question mo - medyo mysterious eh - pero minsan may ganyan din na nangyayari - you have to try each gear along the way of the link to find out bakit ganun.

Sa orientation naman ng speakers - if you noticed the tweeter in some A-Audio bs speakers is offset to one side at wala sya sa gitna. I could be wrong here, but if the distance between 2 speakers is less than 6' apart - the tweeters should be outward. If its more than 6' naman, pwede na inward ang tweeters.
Sit down sa sweet spot mo tapos experiment.

actually hindi narin naman biro price ng speaker lalo na yung pagkagawa sa a-audio speaker, may dugo at pawis ng malupit nating kababayan hindi ko na macoconsider na murang speaker lang yan Kung hindi good AV Receiver gamitan mo dyan, dapat magagandang amps or diy gainclones para lumabas yung ganda

Hehehe. Medyo in a similar situation din. Indi match sa rest ng gear ko yung quality ng proac clones na nakuha ko, kaya kung manuod ako ng movie halos 2 channel mode na lang. Mas enjoy ko na lang tuloy makinig ng music.

Makapagipon na nga para sa AVR at maibenta na yung computer speaker setup ko dati.

Updated impressions lang pala after more than a week of using the A-Audio proac clones:

Got extra wire and spade connectors to bi-wire the clones to the dared, put in some audio spikes underneath the casing. Result : Audio bliss

String instruments in general have a more audible and realistic twang, there's a sense of improved bass ... In general, a more enjoyable musical experience. I had to rush and get more audio CDs to feed to it.

Even with all that, I'm not sure if I'm squeezing the best performance out of these speakers just yet. Right now, am just using some ultra-cheapo 12 ga wire, will try to experiment next on DIY speaker cable projects to produce cheap but high performance cables to go along with these excellent BSs.

Hahaha. Well, partly I'm doing it because it IS fun as you said ... For another, it's something to keep strong attacks of SARS at bay. As long as there are even only mildly noticeable improvements to the system, I'm happy. Hopefully I find more low cost improvements before I start spending big bucks.

You're using your laptop as a source ba? If so, then you might need a DAC to improve things considerably as discussed here:
