Ezra Center Speaker:First impression is HUGE
Unfortunately, anthony sold off his Ezra mains so I didnt get to properly audition it along with the Ezra L&R speakers
We used his new D2 speakers (more on that later), but I felt it was a mismatch, so I told anthony to disconnect both the D2s and let the Ezra center play alone.
In all honesty, Im never critical in auditioning HT speakers - once you get caught up with the dialogue & action on the screen, just as long as its not muffled sounding - oks na!
The Ezra Center certainly didnt disappoint as it was clear sounding across the board - just a tad bright in some effects due to it having 2 tweeters. Breaking glass or screeching car effects tends to make me squint or cover my ears. It definitely needs more break-in to possibly smoothen the dual tweeters down.
The Ezra Center would be a good match for the Ezra FS as it shares the same drivers and xover - but tweaked for using 2 woofers.
For 3.5k, ayos na!
Some pics:
The pics above shows how big the Ezra Center speaker in relation to anthony's new 42" plasma TV. The TV is actually located behind the center speaker & not above it, so the pics may show the speaker bigger than it actually is.
D2 Anthony's new BS speaker is the oddly-shaped D2. It sports a 6.5" mid/woofer and a danish tweeter in a very heavy enclosure. Anthony is pushing this for an audio speaker, but naturally could also serve the HT enthusiast........but he needs to make a center speaker for it first.
Compared to the Ezra and D1 speakers, the sound of the new D2 seems fuller, but naturally warmer due to its 6.5" driver.
The D2 BS sells for 8k a pair, while the Ezra FS and D1 BS sells for 6k a pair.
Since this hobby is very subjective, Anthony's plan of offering various models truly serves the varying preferences of enthusiasts in their varying applications - audio, HT or combination.
Its best to audition his speakers and just choosing what tickles your fancy........as well as your pocket
