Judge quits Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo case

MANILA, Philippines—The serious illegal detention charges filed by TV host-actor Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro against businessman Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and several others would have to be raffled off to another judge after the current one said on Tuesday that she was inhibiting herself from the case.

Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes made the announcement in court and the information was relayed to media by defense and prosecution lawyers right after the hearing held at the Taguig Hall of Justice. Reporters are barred from covering the proceedings.

nag take the money and run na yung judge. it's now up to the next judge to reverse and implement no bail policy.

After reading the decision, as shared by a lawyer, the position of the Judge makes sense.
Illegal detention case is weak.
I pity the judge who went by her conviction and still projected by the media as a villain.

Public perception is really different from legal realities. What we think are proofs or evidence may not be seen as such by the law. Media should really learn how to be responsible.
