Nice computation sir mark ;) We're also using 6"' on the sides to accomodate the treatment, having an air gap while using even a 1" fiberwool will inrease coefficient of absorption ;) Exciting mag buo ng ht esp if you have the mooolah ;D

for those needing rigid fiberglass ala owens corning 703 (50mm thick or 2 inches), I have the contact number.  marami gumagamit sa mga kano nito sa avsforum for their acoustic treatments.  1 piece measures 3.9ft x 7.5ft.    :)

Pare is it owens corning brand? There's a distributor here in manila but sadly they dont carry the rigid type, only the roll type with paper backing ;)

its not.   but its rigid, same specs of 48kg density.   quite pricey though P1.4k per piece (3.9ft x 7.5ft).

Ernie, my cousin can help us out with your CARA, he's a computer geek and he has a clerk who knows CAD :) He asking if your cara comes with a mic or something to get the reading? ???

But they are essentially parameteric equalizers and just a bit more. Iba talaga ang CARA - pang-design ng kwarto.

CARA is a software that let you plan your HT room and  read its optimization. It does not come with a microphone. I will endorse it to Streetsmart and we can all study it. I just dont have the time to tinker. Sayang naman since i already spend for it so might as well use it with friends like you. Yun room ko ang thesis nyo.HAHAHA!!!

You need to block the first reflections to your listening position. Use a carpet for the floor. Maybe a tapestry or something similar for the walls.

Use a neutral color for the walls and ceiling. The darker the better, pero syempre may constraints kasi living room. Basta neutral, it will be better.

Use sofas with heavy upholstery. Be creative and look for decorative items which can act as diffusers - like bookshelves which are half-empty. Maybe add some heavy drapes somewhere.

thanks streetsmart. do i still need to put acoustic treatment on the walls or the tapestry or some canvass painting will do the trick?
so its not advisable to use leather sofas instead i need to use fabric sofas.

You can buy pre-made acoustic panels to catch the reflections ;)

The problem with acoustic treatment is that baka sabunutan ka ng misis mo, kasi living room sya. Unless single ka.  ;D  Kaya try ka muna with just tapestry, drapes or canvass paintings.

Leather sofas reflect. Better to use fabric, especially if you don't have a dedicated room.

Ah. Dapat tapusin mo na lahat ng acoustic treatment bago ka mag-asawa.  ;D

DIY ka na lang. Paturo ka kay Munskie. Panay DIY ang panels sa bagong HT nya.

Hi, Im new here.

Im building a home theater. I will be having an OSScreen rollup projector screen. Behind the screen is a huge window. My dilemma is I don't know what color of the rollup screen for the window I should use. Is it okay if I use white since all the walls and ceiling are white?

Thanks

I guess you need to explain your problem more clearly. Are you saying that you will get an OS screen and your problem is the color of that screen, considering the window at the back and the white walls and ceiling?

Baka ibig mo sabihin ay pinagpipilian ka ng type of screen, one of which is matte white? There is no connection between the type of screen and the color of your walls or the presence of a window. What's usually most important about the screen is its gain - the higher the gain, the brighter the picture. You will need a higher gain if the lumens output of your projector is not that high.

In any case, if you are building a home theater, its not good to have white ceilings and walls. Should be darker colors or, at least, neutral. White ceilings and walls will decrease the apparent contrast of the picture.

What I meant was , yung window ko ba okay lang kung ilagay ko white na rollup or preferrably darker color na rollup? Kasi yung projector screen ilalagay ko sa tapat ng window. and mas ok ba maglagay ng carpet sa flooring ? Kasi pagnagsasalita ako sa room with all doors and windows closed , parang may echo ako naririnig.

Thanks

Ah ok. Akala ko ung roll-up screen sa window was same as ung roll-up projector screen.  ;D

Use some kind of gray roll-up for the window.

When you hear echoes in your room, that means you need a lot of absorbent material. Carpets, heavy sofas with fabric, tapestries, heavy drapes.

By the way, you will still have a problem with white walls and ceiling. Better to change it to a darker and neutral color.
