@ Audi,

Thanks for the compliments

@dieselsy and gentle bully,

Idol ko mga system ninyo. Reference level quality.

Suki ka din pala ni Anthony. Through the years madami na din akong repair job that Anthony managed not only to fix but to improve. Bang for the buck yung speaker designs nya.

Yers sir! He's pretty good!

I was skeptical nun dinala ko yung d1 for tweaking and replacement ng tweeter, I was under the impression kasi na the speaker was designed with a different tweeter, so malamang ndi maganda yun kalabasan. My oh my was I wrong! hehehehe... He did wonders sa xover design, I think - Halos binago na ata yung 1sc crossover. hehehehhe..

Thanks. It's been quite a while since I got those gears. It took me several years to get the combination that I wanted and most of my gears on the average is around 5 to 7 years old already but even though they are aging already I look at it as a testament of the durability of the gears and the satisfaction from the type of performance that I get from them. No upgrades for a long time.....though a pair of em bigger Contours or a C2 would be nice

@SMT and TeeGoY,

Thanks for the kind words guys.

@Meateater,

The guy knows what he is doing that's for sure. I remember back in 2007 I blew out one of the tweeters of my MB Quart floorstanders and got assistance from Anthony for a replacement tweeter. Since the speaker was already put of production and it would cost me a lot to import an original tweeter from MBQuart's  factory in Germany, Anthony then recommended to install his personally sourced out soft dome tweeters and gave me an assurance that at the very least they will equal the performance of the original ones if mot better. Since I needed to have the speakers fixed I gave the go signal for Anthony to replace the tweeters. Surprisingly the speakers sounded even better after he swapped out the metal domes for a pair of his soft dome units. Money well spent.

we too have an mb quart floor stander. all of the drivers are ok. but unfortunately nabaha yung enclosures. it still sounds good, but the lower parts got bloated and peeled. Planning to bring it to anthony for repairs. hehehe.

Ganda din ng rotel b&w setup.... pwedeng parinig? hehehe.

Nice gears.

Did the smaller Castle speakers displayed any qualities that was better than the Dyns ?

Nice gears.

Did the smaller Castle speakers displayed any qualities that was better than the Dyns ?

Compared to the 1.8MKII's...In all aspects a resounding NONE OF THE ABOVE hehehe. In hindsight outgunned naman talaga sya in all categories such as price point, cabinet size and driver size so the result is not surprising and it isnt a fair fight to begin with BUT compared to a bookshelf speaker that is in the 20K to 30K category like say an A42 with same size and same application then the Castle Trent II will be in the mix of things. Subjectivity na lang will come into play. For its size and price it is an over achiever.

there is only one aspect that the Castle manages to be at par if not better than the 1.8MKII....cabinet finish. It is a beautiful speaker. All my guests who have seen it marvel at the craftsmanship of this little bugger. When somebody likes to listen to my stereo I usually start with the Castle and then use the 1.8MKII's on the same tracks that we just listened to. Probably 95% chose the Dyne.

Aspects that I like about the Castle would be:

1. Fit and finish. Pulido sya in all angles. The binding posts literally is a work of art. Il take a pic later and upload it.

2. Mids - very fluid though slightly forward when compared to the Dynes. The highs are a tad stronger than the Dynes with more air. Recordings with ambiance and reverb sound superb.

3. Output. Though a comparatively small speaker that is engineered to sound loud for its size (a42 or 52) will out punch the castle, it will certainly hold its own specially if assisted by a good musical sub then it's limitations on output is masked to a certain level. It hits the wall hard though on levels that it wasnt designed for. The mids suddenly get brighter and shouty plus it also loses its coherence on instruments as well if driven beyond its capability. For sure this wasn't designed for HT use based on its strong points. It's not even magnetically shielded to begin with.

if we take out the 1.8MKIIs out of the equation and my budget is around 20 to 30ish for bookshelf speakers i'll probably be very happy to live with the Castle as my main speakers.

Anthony can fix that. I just don't know if it's advisable to spend that much on refinishing the quarts if one can get speakers from Anthony that sounds better than the MB quarts for probably the same dough.

As for the Rotel and Nautilus, it's disassembled right now because of house renovations. Probably by Dec it will be singing again. Will PM you by then.

Will be having 2 house guests next week for the entire Christmas season. They are namely:

- Carver dipolar bookshelf speakers. Something unique in design
- Definitive Technology Mythos speakers. One of those high tech designs that use pressure coupled passive radiators and inert materials as enclosures.

Let's see how they stack up to my usual suspects when connected to my rig.
