Thank you sir. Last time you were here it was still bundled up together with the HT. Tagal ko hindi nagamit ito. Got busy with a lot of things like photography, starting up a small business and of course family. Audio got relegated to a non priority but luckily I didn't have the heart to sell it otherwise i would have to build a system once again and chances are it will cost me a LOT to get something that is comparable with its build and sound quality. Kamusta na yung dating Monoblock babies ko? Hope that they are serving you well just like when they were mine.

Thanks for the kind words. By protection do you mean the Hewlett Iso and Variac? Hehe yes it's kinda overkill to use something like that. Wasn't able to delete the picture. That monster was already sold here in PDVD. Been using the Chang Lightspeed exclusively.

Just an update: the long lost brother of my REL is now on a boat headed directly to our shores. Going 2.2 REL's.

naka tsamba lang sa Audiogon ng good priced REL so I bit the bullet na rin since I feel that the Strata II that I have will benefit from the added assistance. Plan on putting the other REL in the back of the listening position to even out the bass in all areas and of course more headroom in the SPL department wont hurt as well. hours of experimenting na naman ito.

yes it was shipped. My sister got it for me since she lives near the area of the seller in Vegas.

PayPal pinaka safe. ingat lang sa pagbili abroad coz baka defective yung unit. Gastos na sa product then shipping pa only to find out na may defect.

Thanks for the info sir. Most of my items are us din binili via ebay nga lang(receiver,projector,ps3 etc etc.) di ko pa lang na try makipag deal sa audiogon kasi... Thanks again..

while waiting for the "other" REL I am presently trying out a different flavor in the digital front end. using a Technics SL-PJ38 CD Transport and my EAD Ovation combo to give me a different presentation as compared to my Cary Tube CDP player/Bryston combo. so far so good. will update pictures.

Thanks Atty. it was a gift from a relative who works in San Miguel Corp. it uses the same material as the original beer case. Very unique

Atty, Thank you for the kind words. Now re the EAD, this piece of gear is very unique when it came out and still is today. It was a design exercise by Enlightened Audio Designs, USA to fuse together high end 2 channel and high end surround into one box. At that time being one of the big time players in high end audio, EAD applied every trick in their digital arsenal to this product. I first heard it way back in 2000 in Singapore where it was connected to 5 ProAc Response speakers and a REL Stadium sub and I was stunned. I was in the market for a surround pre/pro
back then and auditioned Proceed and Krell but the EAD won me over because of its upgradability and it's emphasis on 2 channel stereo which I now use exclusively in my system. It's design and faceplate also is very unique a la Jeff Rowland amps and pre's with its diamond cut and milled to perfection solid aluminum. No plastic buttons nor biscuit can thin faceplates for EAD. Medyo the acquisition price was kinda steep but considering the years I have been using it pays off. JR of LIS imported no more than 10 units of this if im not mistaken and this is one of them. Another one is in the hands of another PDVD member which he is using in a 2 channel set up as well.

Sadly EAD is now defunct since 2005. I do strongly agree that they made the best DACS that money can buy. Tube like sound character.

currently trying out a Luxman L505V as a pre amp in my system which I got from PDVD vintage guru Sandawa. its probably a 37 year old component made by Luxman Corporation when they were in business of creating the best high end audio components from Japan. This was prior to them being associated with Alpine which turned out as a disaster because they concentrated on the mass market segment thus relegating their products to appliance like status instead of statements of craftsmanship and engineering.

compared to my Bryston pre which has a very neutral character, the Lux has a tendency to sound very tubelike. mids are lush and the highs are very non fatiguing. for a 37 year old component, the knobs and switches are designed and constructed to last for a lifetime. every knob is still silky smooth and the switches click with authority. The sound......well to put it in a nutshell...superb. whats surprising is that the soundstage depth was vastly improved thus increasing the 3 dimensionality of the front soundstage tremendously. Im gonna enjoy this gem for a long time in my main system before I get a period correct tuner for this and transfer it to my bedroom.

my Bryston will be in a my cabinet for a good number of months

Its great that we have this PDVD community..we can upgrade the sound of our gears for so little money.

the L505V that I got looks like this:

fast forward 2012 and the grandson of the 505 is the 505U...which I cant afford as of now hehehe
