After my long day in Gilmore... Thanks to all your suggestions... Especially kay Master Stagea... sa walang kasawaan sa pagsasagot ng tanong ko... ngayon its time to test the unit... xmbc muna hehehe downloading time....

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Congrats on your new HTPC!  I hope it would turn out as you expected.  XBMC is ok in screens up to 42 inches.  Bigger than that, I think you should use an external player already such as PowerDVD, ARCsoft TMT, etc. for a better PQ.  Also invest in a good HTPC remote para kumpletos recados.  ;D

One of my undervolted builds... 5w running Aero. e450, 8 gigs of ram, wifi, bt, notebook hdd.

It goes down to 4w or less pa pag sinagad ang settings. Lower consumption than mga dedicated media player. :P

HQV 2.0 score of 179 isn't great for an AMD setup, but it's good enough to be comparable to my main desktop (which is set back by Nvidia graphics).

Current AMD GPUs reach close to 200 na kasi out of the 210 na perfect score.

In comparison, the WDTV Live Plus gets a score of 43 (as per AnandTech). The best dedicated media tanks get to the 90s.

It often takes time before XBMC Live / Linux supports new hardware. I don't think Llano hardware acceleration is supported at this point. You may have to wait some more and stick with Windows for now.

parang gusto ko undervolt yung laptop ko ah!  :D :D

I adjust the emf per processor state and iba iba ang levels sa mga iba ibang parts nung processor to get the most benefit (depende na sa tweakability nung gamit). Aside from managing individual subsystems within the processor, I also tweak signalling levels and the voltages applied to RAM, the I/O hub, and the GPU. Pero hindi pa ako nagpapatay ng features ng board dahil sayang naman yung features na binayaran (though that can further bring down consumption). Siyempre kailangan din ayusin sa software-side. Ang OS ko is full fat pa din lagi (all features are on), more on power management options ang ginagalaw ko.

I have some undervolted notebooks too, aside from my desktops. Battery run-time improved significantly, and they are whisper-quiet during operation (since the fans can run at very low speeds). Nakita ni Paul yung Llano notebook ko with a 9+ hour run-time with the standard battery (partida, powering a dac pa yun). May Sandy Bridge notebook ako with a 6-7 hour battery run-time on the standard batt (with wifi and bt on).

So far happy ako dito

Windows Media Center Remote

Using it with XBMC with PowerDVD as external player.  As long as you don't go to your desktop and stick to your media center ala NMT OK to.   ;D

I suggest sticking with Windows for now, if you want to utilize what your hardware has to offer.

I just saw a clearer image of your case ('in win' ata yan and not iwin).

Boot to windows muna and play with your settings. SATA SSD ba gamit mo na main storage/boot drive?

I think Linux Catalyst drivers that are Llano-aware are now available. Check if this works for your XMBC Live installation.

May mouse function naman to.  Pero kung talagang makalikot ka sa settings ng PC, you are better off with a wireless mouse and keyboard.  The remote I posted is only for the ease of an NMT if ypu are running a media center such as XBMC, Media Portal, Moovida, etc.

Here's my honest opinion: That's an older processor. It might be more cost effective to buy a new one, rather than to build a system around it.

The money that you'd save in a processor would be spent on a graphics card, if you were to build a system around that processor. You'd probably end up losing in the end (you get older tech and lower performance, yet you pay the same amount).

You can move up to a present-day entry level processor (like a current Pentium/Celeron, or a Fusion A4) and reap the benefits from tech advancements of the past half a decade.

most of us think that if we already have one piece of the puzzle, madali na.  pero sa totoo lang mas mahal ng kaunti ang lumang motherboard, at ang lumang memory.  :)
