So the additional contrast explains the over-all advantage of the PV80 from the PV8 in terms of pq.
UPDATE OF MY IMPRESSIONS:
Compared the PV80 and the Samsung A550 again in terms of pq and this is what I've gathered thus far:
-The reds of the A550 are kinda pale, while the reds of the PV80 are really red.
-The A550 has a brighter green over the PV80 but they are displayed in an odd manner, the greens of Samsung are like tainted with gamma rays...it's too bright
- On the intro of the PS3 game "Soul Calibur 4", there is a slight stutter with Sammy, and this is something I did not see with the PV80.
- On an Xbox360, Sammy compares on a toe to toe with the PV80 in terms of over-all pq, it seems that Samsung is a very good display for the 360! Then I learned that Microsoft uses Samsung monitors to showcase the Xbox in Japan, must be some sort of internal arrangement, I'm guessing here but it seems Samsung units are primed for Microsoft's console.
Just honest observations that may differ from ones opinion
Compared PV80 and PV8 again for pq:
- On the DVD "Return of the Jedi" set at 1080i connected via HDMI 1.3a, the chapter where luke fights off vader, the pv8 was a bit dark but still very good. However, with the PV80 the backgrounds are better defined without compromising plasma black levels.
Give me more time to fiddle with this unit and will compare it directly with the LX80
SO FAR VS THE A550 and the PV8 it's still ROCKING HARDER!!!
