Goodfellas ?

Does anyone know if there is a Special Edition of
Goodfellas on DVD ?
All that I've found is a copy that came out at about
the same time that DVD launched in 1997.
The problem with this copy is that it's a "flipper" .
(you know you have to flip the disc half way through
the movie)
Are there any copies that the entire movie is on one
side of the disc?
Any info would be great , reguarding the annoucement
of a Special Edition of this classic movie.

Hi movie_guy!

There are news about a Special Edition release next year (2003), along with another Robert De Niro movie, Deer Hunter.  

But there are no confirmations as of now.

May 07, 2004 - It's finally official: Warner Home Video will release Goodfellas: Special Edition on August 17 in a two-disc special edition for $26.99. No more flipping the disc, we get an all new anamorphic transfer, 1.85:1 widescreen video and an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track.

There will be two audio commentaries, one with director Martin Scorsese and cast/crew (no details on who that is just yet) and a second commentary with Henry Hill (who was portrayed by Ray Liotta) and ex-FBI Agent Edward McDonald. In addition, there will be four new making-of and behind-the-scenes documentaries.

In case you don't know the story, GoodFellas is Martin Scorsese's 1990 film based on the true-life best selling book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi. It followed the career of Henry Hill (Liotta) and how he got caught up with a gang of small-time hoods who aspired to be Made Men. They didn't make it, but they did pull off one of the largest heists in American history. The film also starred Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino.

i've watched this movie so many times already, the first thing i'm gonna play when i get this DVD is the movie with the Henry Hill commentary...  :)

I already got the 2-discs special edition last night and was also able to watch it. Just the same, I still like watching it since the '90s, though I cannot give any comparison with the previous DVD release since I didn't have that one...

i already had the first edition but when this dvd was sold at P350, the 2 disc special edition,i didnt hesistate in taking a double dip.its worth it!
