This is the only "blockbuster" movie that not too many people liked. Instead, wait a few months. That giftset will be priced at P299 by next year

Bought the steelbook edition. It was a difficult decision to make for me. I wanted to buy the gift set at first. But then I saw the packaging of the slipcased 2-disc DVD that's included in it. It's the fugly, locally printed 2-disc Special Edition with the MTRCB logo. No thanks! Although the steelbook edition has a back flyer (unlike the steelbook Iron Man) that's also locally printed. At least the steelbook looks gorgeous. Anyway, the crystal skull bust is quite small, maybe just around 6 inches tall. Too bad they didn't have an opened set. That could've convinced me to buy the gift set despite the undesirable DVD packaging. By the way, the gift set box and the figurine is made in China. The printing on the box is better than the 2-disc DVD slipcase, but not at par with US-made gift set boxes.

I just wish Magna had a gift set and steelbook option. I wouldn't mind paying 3K for that:
2500 (gift set) - 895 (two disc DVD) = 1605;
1605 + 1500 (steelbook) = 3105.

I am still undecided w/ this also on what to get steelbook or giftset. If I really liked the movie, no question I would have gotten both. If this was The Dark Knight, no more hesitation necessary.

The inlay is included in the steelbook edition.

It has the THX logo. Haven't viewed the discs yet to check if there's a THX optimization feature in them.

The Crystal Skull (in the giftset) is so small. It won't look cool in most displays. I don't think it's worth the extra 1605 pesos (difference between 2-discs and the giftset). Maybe, it's just me, but I am really letdown by the giftset, buti na lang, I preordered the steelbook and not the giftset). I think the 6" size Allanmandy quoted included the base, so the Skull itself is like 3-4"...

I actually preordered the giftset, but I was allowed to get the steelbook instead when I decided that the giftset wasn't to my liking.

Saw the giftset earlier at Astro RP Manila. It was light and looked "okay". I'm glad all I preordered was the regular 2-disc edition, which I was picking up (along with The Incredible Hulk DVD). Don't think it's worth shelling out P2,500 for, though, considering that all you get is the regular 2-disc with it.... And the crystal skull figurine wasn't really impressive looking.

There was even some slight confusion because they mistakenly gave me the giftset instead of the 2-disc edition I listed down. So that was when I was able to examine the giftset closely. Gulat sila when I insisted I didn't order it and had to show them my receipt and had them check the sign up sheet from the month before.

The steelbook edition, on the other hand, looked great. But I'm happy with my purchase. The embossed slipcase actually looks good, surprisingly enough.

They still didn't have the beanbags that were supposed to come free with every 4 reserved DVDs in their promo. Next week na lang raw yon.

Just checked the DVD. There's no THX Optimization menu.

i saw one (the giftset) last friday at astro mega. the package was so light as i've never expected. i'll be getting the steelcase nalang but will wait for it to be on sale. too high for me at 1500.

While there's no THX Optiminzation menu for this title, it automatically plays the "Amazing Life" THX trailer once you start playing the movie.

Saw seven giftset at Robinson's Place Astro. Mukhang wala yatang bumibili nitong giftset...I had a feeling that this will reach discount section in a few months...

Just curious, May PinoyDVD member ba na bumili ng giftset?

Maybe next time, Magnavision should go full import for giftset not locally printed outercase, kasi it's make the giftset looks cheap, and as a consequence, not worth purchasing. Have hopefully, it would not deter Magnavision from releasing other giftsets...

I think it's cheaper for them to print locally than fully import everything.. parang discs at yung items in the gift set lang yata yung binibigay sa kanila then they have to provide everything else.. that's how it looks when it comes to their Paramount releases, at least.. I remember their Transformers release.. the 2-Disc had a different cover that ruined the effect of the acetate-like slipcase.. their Iron Man mask edition has a different cover as well.. now this Crystal Skull set..

I think they should just put more effort into it.. lately Viva has been improving the quality of their box sets.. I think it's time for Magna to take it up a notch as well.. or let Warner handle the making of the boxes..
