^ YGPM sir jonjon.

Have you come across a Spanish steel of Hurt Locker?  I know you prefer the Spanish releases eh... hehe.  Been searching for one but couldn't find any...  :-\

Di pa rin ako nakakaencounter e...Mahirap talaga pag sa spain galing...the shipping is quite high...i have another set of 4 dvd steelbooks coming from spain, mabigat lang talaga shipping...it cost me 30 euros...kaya lang, tempting talaga yung mga titles, kaya grinab ko na...will let you know as soon as i see one...sa dvdgo, madami naka markdown na steels, kaya lang 30 euros din ang shipping...kaya i advise na if ever you will buy from them, purchase ka na ng apat...kasi, upto 4 dvds ang 30 euros shipping... ;D

Nope Ma'am.  Got them sa ebay din.  Seller was from Spain.  Kaya 30euros din paship nito... :'(  Natempt ako e, kasi nga yung complete trilogy and anthology na.  Sad part was, it turned out to be metalpak, and not steelbook... :'(

here's the pics...

group shot...

which of the four do you think is the metalpak and the steelbook?

X-Trilogia (metalpak)

Jungla De Cristal La saga completa) Die Hard Anthology (metalpak)

and lastly, Titanic, dagdag sa Oscar winner collection ko (metalpak)

Thanks for looking!!!

Nyak! Anyway, I hope you got them for a reasonable price and not for a steelbook price.  Mukhang sulit naman sa shipping...

Judging from the pics, maganda naman ang itsura ng metalpaks.  sila nga yung clear at vibrant ang color/print.   ;)  The Mission Impossible Trilogy has a washed out faded look (o nasa angle lang ng camera?).  These are still good additions to your growing steel collection sir jonjon!  8)

well that's good, you can make a hybrid. put the 2-discs from the amaray inside the metalpaks. hehehe.  Wait, you mean single disc lang yung trilogy and anthology, like three movies in one disc?

Also, I think it's hard to distinguish a metalpak from a steelbook if you're going to look at it from the front lang. ;D

No ma'am, what I mean is, 1 disc sya per movie...Gusto ko sana e per movie e yung double disc...I agree with you on the appearance of the metalpaks...At least yung nakuha ko metalpaks from Spain e iba kesa sa metalpaks from germany...ne me RCV logo sa harap, kaya alam mo agad na metalpak... ;D

Ah I see.. akala ko three movies in one disc.. parang super compressed yata yun!  LOL  Yes, I completely forgot about that RCV logo.  It's how you can tell metalpak from a steelbook nga pala, although not all metalpaks have that logo, like the ones you have.   ;)

I received my Astro Boy China IronPack today.  This is my first ever IronPack. Given a choice though, I'd still go for a steelbook.  ;)

Astro Boy IronPack (China)

What you see in the back is just a paper with info.  The printed back art looks like this (pic is by blu-ray.com member wxlinkswd):

Btw, this release does not have English audio or subs.  I'm still waiting for my Astro Boy U.S. BD so I can replace the disc with an English one.

;D

Is metalpak and ironpak, the same?

Thanks!  ;D    Iba pa ang MetalPak.  According to collectors, ganito ang heirarchy:

SteelBook > IronPack > MetalPak

;D

IronPackâ„¢ is similar to SteelBook minus the inner spine plasticholder & trademark logo.

The most visible difference is, again, in the spine.  Notice the spine of astro boy ironpack:

and compare it with the spine of the patriot steelbook:

The IronPack is the cheaper option to a steelbook.  The quality of the SteelBook is superior to that of the IronPack.

Check this out for more comparisons on spine and inside of IronPackâ„¢ vs. SteelBookâ„¢

Ninja finally arrived.  It is indeed a steelbook like the seller said.  Maganda yung finish nya and I like the artwork.  I dunno about the movie.. mukhang B movie ito.  LOL

That Troy is a pirated Metalpak.  It's carries a Bluray logo (flash area) on top.  Daming pirated metalpaks around, That's why it's not as desirable to collectors.  Not to mention, that it is not allowed in PinoyDVD.

______________

On another front, why is the LOTR Steelbook that comes from Best Buy (preorders) called a Steelbook (Other than it is designed by Steelbook creators), it's more plastic than steel...

Pangit daw kasi pakinggan pag PlastikBook.   ;D    Seriously though, I also do not like these jumbo steels.  Masyado makapal yung plastic... But I did see the LOTR Futureshop, it looks nice, mainly because of the embossed front.  Even if it is a jumbo steel and probably has more plastic than steel, it still looks classy.

I buy most of my steels from online stores like amazon and hmv.  For HK movies, I buy from yesasia and sometimes they sell steelbooks and IronPacks too, like the upcoming Hurt Locker BD steel from Korea.  You can try searching for steelbooks at yesasia.com.  HK-based sila so shipping shouldn't be too expensive if you're based there.  :)
