updated it to official firmware 1.02.07 from wdc.com as posted above.

experienced it both with 720p and 1080p movies. playback is smooth except for the interval lag issue. i don't know exactly what to call it, i dont know if i can call it choppy. and im pretty sure its not the file/s because it plays perfectly in my pc.

have you tried the 1.02.08 fw prerelease? it was posted here in a previous page.  I do think this is file-specific in a sense, but is primarily a firmware issue.  i mean that i thnik that there are some files, because of the way they are encoded, that give the WD trouble with regards to synching.  I believe this will be addressed in future fw updates.  I could be wrong though.

Redownloaded 1.2.8 ver again and never had any problems. Currently resolved the problem with some files not playing audio and some files wherein the audio is not synchronized with the video...  So far so good.

For me still the best bang for the buck NMT out there.  I have my PS3 and my MAC for network purposes. ;)

I just hope the next firmware resolves long start up and reading time for one of my 1 tera's.  The other one still starts up less than 20sec ;D

i haven't encountered any problems regarding mkv files. i even have 13GB 1080p mkv's, and the clarity really amazes my relatives. isang file lang and di na-play ng wdtv, and it was an iso file. di ko lang alam kung kailangan pa yata ng conversion nun.

a good buy. but still a source of occasional frustrations.

parang walang hard and fast rule. some 1080p movies play, some don't. some DTS encoded movies play, some don't. some DD movies play, some i have to switch to stereo output (with sound coming from my TV not from my HT). some downloaded TV shows play with sound coming from HT speakers, some don't, have to switch to stereo output. hay.

ang hard and fast rule lang, once the sound conks out for some reason, wala na. its gone. unless i switch from digital to stereo. but for DTS encoded movies, what's the fun in that?

on the plus side, so much better just flipping through the menu to choose movies instead of getting up from the couch, removing DVD, putting new DVD, stopping, changing my mind again, removing DVD, putting new DVD. hehe.

I was always annoyed that when I paused there was this huge bar that covered nearly a fourth of the screen. I just recently discovered that you can take it out by pressing enter! Conversely, I didn't realize that to check the display bar for the run time, you can also press enter. Previously I had to press pause.

Pasensya na, natuwa lang ako. Ngayon ko lang na-discover after how many months. ;D

it was an annoyance for me too early on. buti nadiskubre ko kaagad how to eliminate that horizontal bar at will.

good news to all wd tv user, mukhang i-dadagdag na sa future firmware ang dts to stereo down mixing.

pero may mga post sa avsforum na baka ang ibig sabihin ng "planned" is for the next version of wd tv. intay na lang.

so far with my unit it has played all my iso downloads.

btw, i have stayed so far with the 1.02.06 firmware.
never really had much problem with any file that would be particular to the wdtv only.

meron lang akong ilang 1080p mkv,but mostly downscaled mp4 na 1.4gb lang,ok naman setup ng htpc ko sa room since i just have a t260hd and and amd based htpc.but sa sala namin which is usually nanunuod sis ko and father .they're using our old 43' philips rear projector tv na walang hdmi o vga, only option is svideo, composite, and component.so if i want to share to them my movies ok lang ba yun wdtv, plus an 8 gb flash drive? audio wise pwede pa naman ata yung old atp3 ko,hindi naman sila maselan sa sound.

You might want to check out the egreat m34a since I think that has component video. WDTV does not. Composite and hdmi lang.

OKs lang yun... using composite video connection... basta happy sila sa movie content & the movies itself...  :o  :o  :o  ;D
