If Im not mistaken brod, yung first 30gb lang ng external HDD ang kayang basahin or ma detect ng usb ng dvd. So kahit naka Fat 32 ka, dapat mag create ka ng par***on. (example: kung may 40gb ka...dapat 30gb and 10gb ang par***on..)

depende pa rin to sa klase ng enclosure at hdd. Madami na rin ako nasubukan na hindi umubra, especially yung mga old models ng external na matakaw sa power.

I believe meron ng nag create ng FAQS nyan dito sa mga forum

My Pioneer DVD player as well as the ACE/ Xtreme and my portable Xenon and Genric portable with usb for Jpeg/Divx files can accomodate and read well without any disruptions my Fat32 formatted 500Gig Buffalo Hard Disc Drive. ;)

Wow, thanks for the very detailed response, sir Alfie.

I used to be under the impression that those who prefer MKV 1080p would not be interested in aXXo-type files.  After your post, I now think low-res files are unavoidable in any video file collection.

The trend is the same for optical discs.  I don't think any video disc collector can have a collection that is exclusively BD.  He will surely have an SD-DVD collection to go with it.

Number of reasons really:
1)The advantage of the WD TV HD Media Player is that you can use all your HDD(I have at least 6 TB as of my accounting of Axxo type files) for your movie viewing pleasure.

:o That comes out to about 8000 movies!

Not really that many....A lot are TV series.

......but the truth is I already ran out of films to download, and can only download nowadays after a day or 2 of waiting, otherwise I still download crap films or B-movies hoping they'll turn out OK.

Like today...Bottle Shock, Gran Torino, The Crew, Clubbed and Midnight in St. Petersburg(No MKV) just came out. ;)

then...it's a week or 2 of crap downloads.(But I still do to keep my connection strong, otherwise, I get cut off)  :P

I am now assuring you since I did this yesterday, Yes, with the exception of The Dark Knight which cannot be decoded by the WD...but it's more of an exception. ;)

Hi Brod, Is your 500Gb portable HDD stand alone or still has external power source? If not, have you tried a stand alone portable hdd?

Ah okay. :) Dami pa rin yun. BTW I have a 16gb Dark Knight 1080p and it runs without any problems on my WDTV.

Sorry tinatamad akong maghanap but meron bang component video output ang WDTV?  Parang I recall it has composite and HDMI only?  Thanks.

3.5" Powered, the 2.5 portable cannot be powered properly by the usb of DVD players.

I noticed when it comes to fast and panning scenes, mkv playback on the WD TV si kinda choppy even on just 720p files.  Not as smooth as my HTPC.

BTW, can it downmix DD audio in mkv files to output via HDMI?  Tried playing some mkv files with DD but no sound was coming out of my TV via HDMI.  Audio from AVI files were ok.

In the audio output settings try choosing Stereo instead of Digital. It should send audio through your hdmi to your tv. You should hear sound as long as the audio is not dts.

Yeah I've since found out it plays fine on desktops/laptops. But somehow, WDTV has problems with it.

Hi Sardaukar, do you notice this too with any of your particular contents (other than the issues of Sin City). Trying to determine what kind of encodes would have issues with the WDTV.  DXVA-Compliant ones seem to be OK, regardless of bitstream and size.

This device would have been nicer if it had component video out - would have paired perfectly well with CRTs capable of 480p or 720p or 1080i through component video.

Thanks

I've browsed most of them though I've only watched a couple. So far the only one I've noticed is the beginning of 10,000b.c.--the sweeping shots (is that called a tracking shot?) of the mountains is choppy. Will let you know if I encounter others but issues seem to be rare--even on the 1080p files.

You're right, it would have been better if it had component video. I guess they were trying to keep the form small but I wouldn't mind it being a little bigger if it had that.

Yup so limited lang sya sa DD audio sa mkv pala if I want audio out sa TV.  Mahirap kasi dun sa bedroom may baby ako nagigising pag nakabukas ang receiver.   :-\

Cover art thumbnails for movies only works for MP4.
