BTW, can you put thumbnails in the video titles ng movies?

do not do unto others what can you do for today

is there a workaround to play Mkv files with DTS audio straight to the LCD panel via HDMI cable lang?

But presentation wise I think that is a nice firmware update.

Similar presentation is available for TViX using the TVXIE application ... but as jeps11 mentioned, this will consume a lot of space if you have a lot of titles ...this is also time consuming as you may have to download the cover arts if you do not have those originally.

Below are sample images for the TViX NMT -

Marantz NR1200, MartinLogan Motion 20 digital audio setup, and Sony A80J

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe sa HTPC lang yata ito puwede.  Dunno with other NMT's though.

As of now Agree. ;)

Except if a Firmware update in the future will include a fix for this particular audio bug ;).

I don't know if this is what you would call a workaround. But you could convert the DTS audio to AC3 using the popcorn MKV audio converter. It takes a few minutes. You could also retain the DTS audio and just add in the converted AC3 track to the mkv file but the final file size would be bigger.

correct me if i'm wrong... if you pass DTS audio to your LCD, you'll be getting 2 channels only and not the full movie experience of 5 channel surround..

na-mention ni HiJack from mpc na magkakaron ng DTS decoding (i guess kasama na rin yung down sampling to stereo) ang A100.  sana magkaron din ng ganung feature ang WD. dito ko pala nabasa: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1065951

I've always been here reading the threads.

My friend tried this ang synchronized naman yun mga na-try nya. Lalaki yun file by a few hundred MB if you keep the DTS track but if you drop the DTS track mas smaller ang size than the original file.

I rarely drop by na kasi during weekdays usually Sundays lang ako pumupunta. I have stopped buying na kasi for about 2 years na, I just go there to buy blank dvd-rs and to chat with my former suki.

Kung dadaan ka during lunch break sabihan mo ako and we can meet. Friday morning kasi ang usual schedule mo diba?

Parang hindi ata pwede unless meron decoder yung display mo to downscale DTS to 2 CH. Hindi din ako sure  ;D ;D ;D

Yes downsampled to stereo audio only for LCD's left and right speakers. That is if your NMT has a built in DTS decoder like the Popcorn-a110. It's the same for Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks.

if that's the case, it's better save up for a receiver or htib that decodes dts to get true 5.1 channel surround sound cinematic experience.  since even if WDTV or NMT decodes DTS internally, stereo sound (2 channel) lang lalabas and the experience is not that good.  [I'm biased since I have 5.1 setup and would not want to watch an action movie without a subwoofer! hehehe  :P].  for me, nice to have feature lang yang internal decoding.

But you can use the optical audio of the WDTV to get the 5.1 you are looking for -- kung tama ang intindi ko.
So HDMI to display to get hidef output. Then use toslink to AVR which should give you more than 2 CH audio.

Tama.  That's what I'm doing.  I'm reacting to the post above regarding lack of internal DTS decoding feature of WDTV.  Better to use an AVR or HTIB that decodes DTS rather than rely on internal DTS decoding (if it will be available in the future via firmware upgrade) since the sound output will be downsampled and stereo 2 channel only.   :)

I dont have this device but in my particular case, the flexibility and mobility would be badly restrained if I were forced to lug around an AVR or HTIB together with the WDTV all over the house and during trips.   I dont need 5.1 DTS output in many locations and instances but many of the contents now have that audio stream.

Ha-ha.....solution when going on trips is to stick to axxo files and  be content oriented, but if you go for quality, just watch it in your Home Theater. ;) ;D

Got no time to convert audio fr DTS to AC3 so got the same problem when travelling.  Luckily I still manage to get this headphone which comes with the battery operated dts/ac3 decoder:

Creative HQ-2300D

The mini-jack uses the optical cable for MD's and CD players.  Extended ang isang side.  Im using it with my dvd player and PS2 (both besides my PC) when not travelling.

Actually, it comes with the coaxial cable so most likely it can support both optical and coaxial connections. Try ko nga mamya.

i think this is a very good work-around for those who has no receiver setup, so while waiting for the firmware for eGreat or WD TV HD, will have to add AC3 track to the MKV itself, will try this later

Thanks firestorm for the advice :)

ok yung bagong firmware.
Pure Bluray rip to ISO files.

40GIG yun BLACK HAWK DOWN...

Anyone tried this?

Others just want to experience the HD video clarity without any receiver or HTIB.  A lot have simple set-ups with just the WDTV and the HDTV.  In my case that my WDTV is just attached to my plasma in my bedroom, I wouldn't want to use a receiver anymore so as not to wake up some sleeping family members when I watch hence the need for an internal DTS decoder to output DTS audio in my TV speakers.  This is usually found in secondary room/bedroom set-ups.  But in the main HT room....a receiver is a must.

When it comes to HD, some of us would only prefer and appreciate the video clarity of the movie without giving much attention to audio.
