What annoyed me a bit was when powering down the units - I used the remote of the WDHD to turn it off, but the light of the 1tb Studio remained lit. I waited for about 30min and the light was still lit. I reached to the back of the Studio to turn it off, but it just flickered for a few seconds and returned to its lit condition.
Both units are plugged to a powerstrip that has individual switches - so I switched off where the studio was plugged.
Anyone experienced this with their WD hard drive?
welcome to the world of HD, bro. with the WD HD TV, WD has allowed us to get our feet wet on the realm of hi-def features and movies. i am beginning to get spoiled now with crisp pictures on my ae-900 PJ.
about the WD and the attached USB drive... mine does exhibit the same quirks as your setup. what i do is turn off the player through the remote then completely power it down by switching it off from the outlet. you'll then see the drive light slowly then completely fade out. then i turn off its power supply also.
i had a bad experience with an amp and a 29" TV on standby that got hit by power fluctuations. some chips inside were affected, necessitating some costly repairs (though fortunately the tv was on an extended warranty). so now i don't leave any equipment on standby for so long.
i have the same observation as you on the audio side. seems the conversions somehow affect the audio too coz some materials sound different as i remember them from my dvd copies.
