I just happened to accidentally dropped by Robinsons Metro East Appliance Center last Nov 27, 2009 (Friday) late afternoon. Did checked their display of LG LCD TVs on sale. Was surprised to see the 32LF20 selling at php22,990.00, while the 32LH70 was selling at php24,990.00. It was a one-day "Black Friday Sale" that time. Stayed there in the store to check on the buyers of these units. Was originally planning for a 32LF20 unit with a budget of php25k. Didn't leave the store until finally decided to get a 32LH70 unit. There are a lot of advantages getting the 32LH70 with just a mere php2k difference. Another buyer had gotten hold of the last unit (32LH70). Asked the LG salesman if I could still get a unit, and with the approval of their manager, they agreed to let me purchase one with a full amount deposit.

By Nov 29, 2009 (Sunday) morning, I was able to pick up my sealed unit from the store. It did include a wall-mount bracket for free (worth php990.00). Paid thru BPI Credit Card straight charge without any add-on charges. Gotten also a free Philips Earphones worth php300+ c/o BPI Credit Card/Robinsons Appliance Center promo. Also did get the Jollibee 6-pc. ChickenJoy promo (actually x2) c/o BPI Credit Card. One for the purchase of LCD TV and one for the HTIB (paid for on separate dates).

That one-day Black Friday Sale is a (first time?) once-a-year event of Robinsons (following the US Stores sale event). Too bad for those who have not availed of such. By Nov 28, the price had gone back to php29,990.00 until Nov 30. And by Dec 1, they said that it will go back to php34,990.00.

I believe that this is the best bang-for-the-buck at this time. Hope that the other sellers would be able to match this, for the benefit of the other would-be-buyers.

NP. Im just ok with my purchase of 32LH70YR @26,991.00 since i have discounted a lot since the orig price is aroung 29,500.00 -30k.  ;D ;D :o :o. I think ill start savings for a big LCDTV or plasma and full HT setup with blue ray player since in the future this 32 inch will become small to me.  ;D ;D  :o :o

^^ Kung sa picture quality lang, e panalong panalo itong Sony Bravia at 30K.  Kung hindi lang dahil top priority ko rin ang Full HD at USB-Direct Movie, I would've gotten this S-series.

Ok din yan sir, i bought pana 32 c10 from western almost 1 month ago for 20,500 (free 1 burner gas stove).  This is my christmas gift to her, ang problema lang naman iba yung channel/tuner nya sa cable operator, nevertheless ok naman performance.   Kung sa dvd player (upconversion) galing!!!

Hi everyone,

Do we have fellows here who may have some insider information regarding this 32" Qube Full HD LCD.  They currently have a pre-order promo for PHP19.999.  Coming January 7, 2010 as per the site.

To what brand/model can we compare this with?  In my opinion, medyo nakakatakot lang bumili pag wala pa tayong nakita na reviews, at kulang ang mga details ng specs (response time, HDMI version).

Specifications on the manufacturer's site:
32 LCD TV - HDTV
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
OSD: English / Chinese
Viewing Angle: 178°/178°
Brightness: 500cd/m
Contrast Retio: 1000:1
NTSC Playback System
2x HDMI Input
2x AV Input
VGA Input
S-Video Input
Y Pb Pr input
AV output
Earphone output

Mas mura sa Western  (Makati/Pasay Road) kesa sa ibang outlet nila. 21k now.
wait ka na lang itong jan 2010 onwards, bagsakan blues na yan for the preparaton on  new models and ofcourse hina na sales nila dahil tapos na bonuses.   Wala ng demand for new tv's

Often, those branded ones like Sony and Samsung have special demo appliances that output HD into their showroom LCDs via HDMI and therefore look best.  WHile unbranded ones like Syntax or Matrix are left to the ignorance of sales people to use even composite video RCA cables connected to generic DVD players playing SD DVDs, pirated pa yung iba.  So they look their worst.

Yan nga ang problem, rarely are there stores that display these "unbranded" ones with the big-name, branded ones, side-by-side and with the same source material.  Yun lang sana ang chance ma-compare talaga fair and square.

But to be honest, I also consider only branded ones when buying, due to several reasons:

1.  Reliability - whatever the unbranded ones claim, iba pa rin ang matagal na sa industry, kasi they've gained manufacturing and design expertise throughout the years.  It's true na may warranty lahat kahit unbranded, pero i would rather not to have to exercise the warranty at all.
2.  Technology - also something that the bigger companies can afford better.  Wala pa akong nakitang unbranded na may feature na kahit isa sa mga branded ay wala pa.
3.  Design - usually the branded ones are designed at least a bit better.  Again the unbranded ones don't usually have design as one of their priorities.
4.  User Friendliness - to me, the ease-of-use of the user interface (the menu system, the buttons, the remote, etc) is important,  and many unbrandeds just suck at this.
5.  Price - yes, i know, branded is always more expensive.  But the question is, by how much?  Last time I checked, it's not much... with the strong competition nowadays, even the big brands (except Sony, hehe) compete well price-wise with unbranded ones, that I cannot justify buying generic.

But as mentioned earlier, picture quality is something that generics MIGHT deliver as well as, or even better (who knows) than the branded ones.  Yun nga lang, it's difficult to have side-by-side comparison in a typical store.  A/V specialist stores ang best bet natin, although many of them wouldn't bother with carrying generic types.

You can count the Panasonic marketing team as a part of this ignorant breed.  Rarely have I seen Panny display units using HD material as a source.  I couldn't count how many times I overhear people walking past their displays and saying "Di naman maganda panasonic eh.  Mas maganda pa rin yung sa Bravia tsaka Samsung. Di mo ma-i kukumpara yung picture."

Just as important as the technology of the panel itself is the video engine.  It costs a lot of money to develop and improve the engine.  While we cannot simply dismiss the technical capabilities of AV engineers of "non big-name" makes, I dont think I would put them at par with the likes of Sony, Sharp and Panasonic.

Last week may nakita pa ako sa Abensons Festival Mall.  Actually yun nga yung ino-offer nila kapag may naghahanap ng Scarlet (kasi out of stock, almost in every mall appliance store).  Baka nabili na rin, super sulit kasi for Full HD at 26K (or less ata).
