Mga Sir,

Is the new Marantz 5500  220V 60hz Yung 5300 kasi dati 50hz kaya hindi ko kinuha.

I'm not so sure though, what's the implication of this.

Yes. The new ones are all 60Hz. The silver Marantz before were all 50Hz and ang bilis mag-init noon since 60Hz and Pinas. I don't thing the silver ones are for the Philippines market so it's possible those were through the blackmarket.

i got silver 4400 last week, hindi ko na check 50hz lang pala sya, di gaya ng gold model 60hz, my question is bakit same model pero magkaiba ng hz? dahil ba sa color lang? madali tuloy mag init.  ;D

I am one of those who don't believe in using exotic speaker cables to make any sonic difference.  But I believe the thicker they are and the better their connectors are built, the better.  Bi-wiring has its debatable merits as well.  But for me, bi-wiring simply widens the signal path.  Single well constructed Oxygen free gauge 10 cables are said to be the best.  Pure silver might even be better.  Having a bi-wire using a couple of 12-guage cables is just as good, if not better.  But that assumes your receiver or amp's speaker binding posts  can accommodate such gauges.

M very happy with this -- ;D ;D ;D at least nakakapawi ng "inferiority complex" - gamit ko kasi 12g generic spkr wire lang na kung minsan kakahiyang banggitin sa grupo na gamit ay mga exotic cables-- av_phile is one of those i admire here in this forum kaya its really heartwarming to know that we have the same belief--  ;)

Thanks so much for your vote of confidence there, Jerix.  Like everything else in this hobby, our opinions are shaped by our experiences.  While we may not hear differences between cables, (much as I try, though all double blind tests never revealed any differences anyway), or prefer not to based on closed textbook technical knowledge about cables, there are others who do for whatever reason and promptly get the ones that gratify them if within their means.  And this hobby is so personal in its indulgence towards aural self-gratification, it has room for most everything under the sun.  ;D

And there's no point having any kind of "inferiority complex" in this hobby.  If what you have gives you personal enjoyment and satisfaction, that's all that matters.  If other people derive enjoynment that goes beyond aural satisfaction with other considerations like pride of ownership and social prestige, that's their personal kicks.  Like I said, this hobby has room for all kinds of preferrences and biases, likes and dislikes.  It's really personal.

Yung 50Hz is for the European market. Maraming countries who use 220V, 50Hz. That's why most applicances now are 220V 50/60Hz so it can be used for both markets.

ronjet,

Congrats on your new 4500. Happy listening. Also, try the Pure Direct mode when you listen to music. I find it to be more detailed and imaging improves a bit.

By the way, ano pala ang CD or DVD player mo?

vhongbiker,

Congrats din sa 4400 mo. Mas okay nga daw ang 50Hz kasi mas warm-sounding.  ;D  As long as your unit is well-ventilated I'm sure you'll have no problems at all.

I agree! Good sounds depends on the ear of the beholder! If you can't hear any difference good for you! But if you hear any difference it's an added cost! Personnaly I've heard a difference, but it doesn't necessary means a $10K speakers wire is better than Php50.00 wire, still it requires ggod matching! (IMO)

If you want the previous x400 models, you can get it at a good price at Electronics Depot in Galleria or at Festival Mall (i think). The SR4400 is on sale at around P13k.

The SR4500 and SR5500 are being imported by 5th Avenue. They have a branch in Shangri-La and at Quad Carpark. Look for Rey in Shangri-La. He's very accomodating and can give a little bit of discount pa if you will buy cash.
