For starters and this only serves as a simple recommendation - i'd only play around with the 2 opposing blank walls. One for the equipment & the other wall for seating.  Blackout curtains for the window and keeping the area around the sliding door unobstructed for people traffic.

thanks for the comment fafa mac!

the reason why i posted here is becoz i want to hear
comments from our braders here on the room dimension...
is it small?

what is the ideal room size?

if room size is passable, what would be the layout recommendation?
as mac pointed out, the 2 opposing blank wall would be best for the
equipments & seats....

nga pala....
my friend is installing a PJ for this room...
any reco's?

Papi Jim,

Di ko lang alam kung may "ideal size" for a HT room - as most play around with existing rooms/areas inside their homes. If your friend can tell you the maximum size he is willing to give for his HT, then we could easily visualize.
There are a lot of HT rooms bigger than the area you posted above and there are also some HT rooms that are smaller - one consideration for anyone who is planning a space for HT is knowing how many people would be using it, which would also determine the seating space.

If a projector is preferred, ang alam ko may minimum distance yata ang pj to screen - 10' (3m)ba yun? Not sure. Depende rin cguro sa brand of pj or kung may distance options sya.

For smaller rooms - you could consider in-wall speakers for the front as they could be mounted flush on the wall - most will only eat 3-4" inside the wall. Rear surrounds would be easy as you could hang it on the wall or even consider in-ceiling speakers.

Pwede rin yung equipment rack besides the sofa/couch para easy control of gears & keeping the front area uncluttered with gears. Problem lang is that you need longer runs of wire.

my humble opinion, if you will set up the pj from the two opposing blank walls, this is the ideal placement, but with only 8.97 ft between the two walls, baka mga 70" lang ang ma-project sa screen, even if you get a pj with 2x zoom, which can project a bigger image at the same distance, baka naman masyadong masakit na sa mata. with an 8.97 ft. distance, after all things are set-up, chairs, screen and all, i think "real" viewing distance will be 7-7.5 ft. so a 70" image will just be about right without getting screen door effect (unless 1080 pj ang set-up).

sana nalagay din yung height ng room, imho nothing below 8 ft., below that mas may issues. but still doable.

mas ok sana yung sliding door to window room length, kaso mas challenging lalo ito if your friend is to set up the screen on the windows, pj above the sliding door and seats also just as you enter the room. but it does give you more viewing distance around 10.69 ft.

If he will install a pj and he can choose room dimension, I think that an ideal size is about 22 to 24 sq. meters. Look at the HT of Munskie - mga 23 sq. meters yata. Malaki ang screen. Kasya 12 people.

Your friend's proposed dimensions are pretty small. Another problem with a small room is that it will be harder to tame the acoustics. The bigger the better.
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.

Good Morning Brother XXX,

Agree here with Sir Mark, room is quite small to fully enjoy a projector.  Have you friend also consider the other gear/equipment that will be going into this room, furniture (couches, side tables, coffee table av rack, dvd/bluray rack,) etc.

Cheers,

Blackie

A big problem with smaller rooms is the location of the speakers and seating position. Ideally, you don't want the speakers and furniture to be located just beside a wall - that causes all sorts of acoustic problems. But if you have a small room, wala ka choice. The acoustics will be very compromised.

Also, the smaller the room, the smaller the screen.

Gustong gusto ko ang size ng HT ni Munskie. I think its about 23 square meters. Pchin is also desigining an HT and its the same size.

Good luck sa friend mo!

Yup, yup,

Seating position can get pretty cramped, if there's no place to put all the stuff ;D
