Tips...

Just enjoy the audition and be careful, sometimes you'll end up spending more than you plan. I'm the biggest example he he he ;D. Kasalanan ni sir Marc, making all those speakers available for demo kaya ayun narinig ko tuloy at pagkadinig ko di na ako pinatulog... but hey I'M VERY HAPPY...

Good luck sir and happy hunting.. ;)

Ha ha ha... when my wife asked me how much i spent for the RTi A3 and A1 combined.. i told her 15k lahat na for 4 speakers..nagulat sya and said "WHAT!!!!!" gugulpihin na dapat ako then nung narinig nya she said kaya pala mahal kasi maganda tumunog ha ha ha.. Cant tell the real price kasi 15k pa lang na shock na sya, pag nalaman nya orig price im sure i shoshock nya ako, electrically ha ha ha..

Isipin nyo my plan was to upgrade my sub to US Audio na 2nd hand for 4.5k naunahan lang talaga ako.. And i ended up with the Polk dahil sa Audition..

:D sya talaga nagbigay sakin ng idea bout polk audio.. kasi he's using a polk audio surroundbar 360.. ayun.. gang ngayon hindi pa tapos setup ko.. haha. magastos kasi.. :)

may it be hk, onkyo or denon, you won't go wrong with any of them if paired with the RTi A's. i had the chance to listen to them and they all sounded great. it will just all depend on your taste. bringing your favorite cds will surely help. good luck and welcome to this hobby ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome sir pa3ck608!
I'm leaning towards the 509 for now, since this will be a new investment and I would want to be 2-3years ready. It will still depend on the Sunday Audition though.

I've already transferred my cd collection on my Mac at high bitrate. Will bring it on Sunday. MBPros have built in optical output/input so I can do some solid testing on the RTi's and the AVR options.

Enjoy your sunday audition sir..

Yup! Nikon shooter here! PM me your flickr account para we can share shots!

On rest ang photography, unlike last year, coz wife is currently preggy and we don't go out to shoot and travel regularly anymore.. So, since we'll be spending a lot of time together at home, better to beef up our Home Entertainment System.

Can't wait to try out the RTi's so I moved our schedule to Saturday!
Hahaha..

Good thing my schedule cleared up!

Will update again tomorrow.

Still not that much feedback from Denon users on RTi's.. Hmmm...
I'm leaning more towards the Onkyo 509 for future-proofing na..

I hope I'll miss the upgrade itch!!!

On my way to audition this afternoon!

Hope I stay within budget.

Ideal setup:

Rti A3 - LR Front
CSi A4 - C
OWM3 - Surround
PSW110
with an HK 160 receiver

Option 2:
Onkyo 509.

It will really depend on the sound!

Thanks again for the help guys!
Have a sonic weekend!

Thanks chief!

Just got back after our session. Thanks to Marc for accommodating us and his helpful staff James.
We had a blast! Literally and figuratively.

I wasn't able to try out the Denon 1611 though, so it was a head to head battle between the HK 160 and the Onkyo 509.

I tried the HK 160 first with the following setup:
RTi A3,CSi A4, M10 rears and Mirage S8 Subs (PSW 110 was unavailable as well)

The sound was big and low frequencies were rumbling.
Tried a couple of songs and a couple of movies.
I was initially satisfied already. Part of me also wanted the HK160 to be "the one" coz, looks-wise, I just loved it. It had great aesthetics, organized and well labeled ports, etc.

However, since there was no pressure at that time to rush, the curious george inside me wanted to try out the 509 as well and just compare if there will be a significant difference.

We took a little time setting it up, coz it was one of the very first units. But as soon as we heard the first song play on it, I realized that that was the sound I was looking for. Clear, crisp and open.

Even my wife, who was busy playing Sudoku on her iPhone, looked back to me and said, "Hey, this sounds much better."

The movie dialogue was clearer, the sharp crashing sounds of glass breaking was clear,  and the roar of mini-coopers racing was rumbling across the room!

Almost same price point, future-proofing, and better sound won over brand and good looks.

On an ending note, just like your stories, the RTi A3's were really super-value-for-money speakers and were small but terribly powerful and wonderful speakers! And an important lesson learned: it's not the looks, the specs and just the features that matter in choosing the right amp to drive these speakers. It's what kind of sound you really want to hear from your system.

Thanks again PDVD and avshop!

Sir Courage,
For my condo, the CSi A4 is big already. My initial search was for a surroundbar lang or something similar. But for the price of the good sounding surround bars, I just had to add a little more and I had this setup already.
How big is the room you'll place it in? My tv area is just 1/3 or 1/4 the size of the audition room of avshop.
Btw, the RTi A3's on music mode were amazing. Even without the center and subs on! I might start listening to more music too!

very well said sir   ;)
Thanks sir! Can't wait for the setup schedule here at home!

That's right!

I've been to 3 different stores so far before going to Marc.

One wanted to make sure that I would buy from them after the demo. Made even a slight "hint" that he sometimes makes an effort to setup the speakers and stuff and sayang daw if the customer eventually doesn't buy. In my mind, I was thinking, even the wealthy people make sound decisions by not jumping the gun after hearing a good audition. Too agressive for me.

Another store naman, we spent about 30mins before we could turn on a sound bar system. When I said it was a hassle to start it and I wanted to move on to an HT setup, he still insisted to run the sound bar. Not listening to what the customer wants.

Another store, had good service, but no good "brands" and no auditioning area.

Avshop, despite the distance, was worth the trip. No pressure. Patient and accommodating staff.

Two thumbs up Sir Marc!

Btw, got the "PM" already. Just waiting for Sir Marc's feedback on my reply.

It's only a matter of time... tick tock.. tick tock..

Oo nga!

I'm still up..
Things to do while waiting:
1.) Read Onkyo 509 Manual
2.) Measure length of cable needed for front, surround, center and subs.
3.) Read LG LED Manual
4.) Re-arrange furniture to lessen clutter in the living room

Oo nga!

I'm still up..
Things to do while waiting:
1.) Read Onkyo 509 Manual
2.) Measure length of cable needed for front, surround, center and subs.
3.) Read LG LED Manual
4.) Re-arrange furniture to lessen clutter in the living room
5.) Clean up
6.) Imagine what my Holy Week break will be like when I'm all set up!

Sir Courage:

LED TV manual, check!
Onkyo 509 manual, check!

Regarding the banana plugs, did you get any free ones when you got your A3's? Or do I have to buy my own? I thought it was included already kasi. Just in case, are the "Sewell" brands being sold in the forum any good? Or do you know any other place to get good ones?

Thanks chief!

Update:
Cable measurements, Check!
