Ayaw mag Dolby/DTS
« on: Mar 07, 2009 at 12:15 PM »
Hi guys

im been using my yammy 363 for quite some time now. It was onlly last night na nakita ko sa boss ko na yung kanya would automatically set to Dolby, then the speaker indicator lalabas is 5 speakers. Pero sakin i cant seem to make it work. ang sabi nung taga SnS, dapat yung pio dvd ko, gamit ko dapat sa coax nakakabit. Here;'s how it is connected now:

TV--> HDMI--> DVD pioneer--> monster component cable--> AVR

in the pix below, yung nasa right side, thats the speaker indicator, sa boss ko would show 5 speakers, pero sakin Left and Right lang, but still sound are coming out from my rear speakers, pero iba pa din yung sound nung nasa boss ko.

what do you think i need to do?

thanks!

tama ba yung pagka intindi ko na monster component cable ay RCA cable? so basically RCA cable connection ninyo from DVD player to receiver?

in that case use coax o optical cable po instead of the monster cable thingy...

Yup, HDMI should work. But you have to connect your Pio directly to the yammy 363.

piodvd>AVR>Flat Panel (all via hdmi)

Ganito po dapat. :)

From the 363 manual.

Quote
"Audio signals input at HDMI jack are not output from any speaker terminals but output from the connected video monitor.
To enjoy the sound from speakers connected to this unit,
  -make an analog or digital connection besides the HDMI connection (see page 16)

HDMI audio is only available with the RX-V463 model and up. So an optical or coax cable will still be needed for audio. Thanks for the correction gearhead. ;) :D

sorry ha, please bear with my noob questions. :-[

right now here's how the Pio DVD is connected to the AVR:

Pio DVD to TV:

tama po ba na ang dapat kong gawin is instead na HDMI yung Pioneer dvd to TV, dapat sa Coax ko isaksak yung optical cable connected to TV?  Then yung PIo dvd to AVR is HDMI?

Maraming salamat!!!!

Option 1

Pio ->[HDMI & COAX]->363->[HDMI]->TV

or

Option 2

Pio ->[COAX]->363
     ->[HDMI]->TV

Basically, they will work the same way. Option 1 is ideal if you have multiple HDMI devices. So you will be able to utilize the HDMI switching of the receiver. Option 2 will save you an HDMI cable. And also allow you to use the dvd player even with the 363 off. Hope this helps. :)

Yes sir, pwede optical cable na lang gamitin instead of coax.

Yup, that's an optical cable.

Yung pic po sa may baba ang coax na sinasabi namin. Yung Digital coaxial cable. Yung may rca connector.

No sir. Coax or optical only carries audio. While HDMI can pass carry both signals, unfortunately, the yammy 363 does not support audio thru HDMI. So you have to connect both optical or coaxial, along with the hdmi cable in order to get both video and audio.

So here's the suggested connection.

Pio ->[COAX]->363
Pio ->[HDMI]->TV

bunutin mo po yung monster RCA cables both sa AVr and dvd player .... cannot use this as multichannel so keep it nalang for some other use.

buy optical cable .....

connect it sa AVR and player using the optical port :) para umpisa na enjoy sa multichannel :)

if di ka buy optical cable. no multichannel output talaga .... :(

am not familiar with the 363 pero supposedly nga HDMI should be the only cable connection you need :( please double check manual but since our guru said it doesn't support audio, then it doesnt .... :(

hopefully the yammy supports upscaling though ;D that would be a good compromise. But it would mean you should buy another HDMI cable ... :(

wag mu na pansinin last paragraph ehehe baka lalo ka lang malito .... just follow sir jojitv's recommendation and everything will work fine :)

nakabili nako ng Optical cable! sa Electronic Boutique, ang mahal ah! 545pesos. ;D kasi yung cheaper na 299pesos, wala daw warranty.

tama po ba tong nabili ko?:

at heto na ang mangyayari:

Pioneer DVD to TV is connected via HDMI for Video purposes

Pioneer DVD to Yamaha 363 AVR is thru Optical/Coax for Multichannel Audio

Ang question ko lang mga sir, though the AVR reflects only the L & R speaker indicator, bakit may mga sound din naman na lumalabas sa surrounds ko na as if naka multichannel sya? ang issue ko lang mahina at halos di ko na sya napapansin p[wera na lang kung itatapat mo yung tenga mo or papansinin mo talga.

Cant wait to go home and try this out. :D

i'm sure it was reverting either to dolby prologic or one of the yammy multi-channel implementations.

congrats on your new purchase. you'll now enjoy full discrete 5.1-multichannel surround sound.   ;)

Actually you can also use Coax for Digital Audio Signal all you have to do is set your AVR to received digiatl signa via coax.

Your case is using HDMI output of your DVD player going to your TV
and the audio signal from Your player to your AVR is digital coax or tosslink

-Make sure you set-up your AVR input to digital IN instead of HDMI
- Set-up your Player to "output Digital" out too (bitstream)

odyopayl
octaver (wiredstate)
