@ pentium, yes. pero iba yung digital optical audio out diba vs Digital SPDIF? Iva din yung digital COAX.
Walang Digital Optical audio out yung HD box unit.

Yung humax hd box merong optical out, yung bagong hd box walang optical, coaxial digital out lang. i connected the coax digital out to my receiver pero tinanggal ko rin dahil so far ay hindi tama ang implementation ng 5.1 ng cignal for most of the channels like what i've said in previous posts. i mostly watch the sports, nat'l geo, discovery, food network and history hd channels so i'm contented with the audio from my tv speakers.

what brand is the new box? HD boxes should have digital out as they should carry 5.1 channel.

Meron naman digital out eh (5.1 when available)= HDMI and Digital audio SPDIF. Humax XH-7000.
Wala lang Digital Optical audio out ito.

after 1 year and 1 month bumigay ang humax hd box ko. 1 day lang di nagamit pagbalik ko ayaw ng magpower. totally dead unit. malas naman pati tester ko lowbatt kaya di ko macheck. tumawag na ako sa cignal at nagpasched ng home service. but i doubt maayos nila to unless they will do component level troubleshooting.

may mga same case na bang nasiraan ng hd stb dito na out of warranty na? gaano kabilis silang magpalit at how much ang charges? thanks in advance.

naka lock in pa ba kayo? i think cignal gives 6 months warranty lang sa box nila and lnb. but if you dont have a lock in anymore, sabihin nyo lang na pag di nila inayos foc sabihin mo youll cancel your subscription.. or pag may lock in pa kayo, mag demand ka ng replacement or else youll tell the DTI

dun sa mga hindi bumili ng dish and box dahil may lock in period o kontrata to subscribe for two years, I was told na pag nasira yung dish, box, lnb, etc. due to no fault of the subcriber, cignal will replace them without any cost to the consumer, which is as it should be.

under lock-in pa rin ako kaya lang binili ko yong kit. originally kasi prepaid ang plan ko then after 6 months nagpaswitch ako sa postpaid. sana nga palitan nila without any charges kasi dead unit talaga. i just tested it, power supply ang problem kaya repalcement talaga to.

naging unreponsive nalang siya bigla eh kung ano ano na pinag pipipindot ko.. bago naman batt..

my defective humax hd box was replaced today afternoon with pace hd box. i just paid php600 service charge. activated na rin sya ngayon. the pace hd box is much smaller than the humax. almost same size sya nong sd box mas thicker lang ng konti. power consumption is better than humax, 13watts on standby and 14watts in use. still disappointing same as humax before na almost no difference ang power consumption ng on at standby. yong humax kasi 20watts standby and 24watts in use.

about unresponsive remote control, nangyari rin sa akin kanina. i don't know how i fixed it. but one thing i did was to power cycle the stb. kasi functional naman yong remote base sa LED pag nagpress ng button. but yong stb walang response yong IR indicator. so most probably sa stb talaga nag problem.

Pace HD Remote is multi function.

Please press MODE and OK to switch between TV and Cignal control.
If still unresponsive, you may need to call your Dealer for a replacement.
Warranty is 1 month for remote, it should be no warranty. But since e are encountering issues on this HD remote we give 1 month at least.

too bad, I have replaced almost ten remotes now for this Pace unit

yes, most likely... not until cignal tech support team is swamped by this remote in their office.
that's the only time they will ask Pace to provide replacements.

it would also be nice if the local channels signal be improved.

abc5 owned by pldt signals are clearer than abs cbn/gma/s23/ibc/ch9, before all were the same but after abc5 was bought, their signal miraculously improved.

at pentium, if the remote is dead, are there buttons that can be pressed on the pace HD box that would get it out of the "what's on" screen -- that screen which shows the current channel on a small window at left corner? because if there is, even without the remote, one can navigate from channel to channel using the HD box's button.

arrrggghhh, that would be hard indeed,. unlike the Humax hardware buttons. there's no way you can navigate on the Pace unit. will check if there's a way out.

@questor: remember that the remote is the failure and not Cignal the provider. bad talaga etong Pace unit na remote.

@trigo: the thing is, Lopez group will not provide Mediascape or Cignal the direct satellite box to re-broadcast their "owned" channel. the reason why Ch2, 23 are having ghost images. it is only a digitalized antenna feed. nothing much you can do to a company that owns Sky cable. If all channels goes digital, then Cignal feed will be okay for all local channels. For now, they need to restrict issuing the gadget, if not... wala na pakabit ng Sky. jmtc

the NTC should be the one pushing for this, we might want to donate a cignal set to Roxas and for him to see the local channels lousy signal.

At pentium, whether we are talking of a lemon car or a lemon remote, the blame is always on the seller or service provider, in this case Cignal. It is Cignal which provided the el-cheapo HD box and el-cheapo remote so there's no passing the buck here.

Sorry, i think wrong analogy Smart and Nokia / Cignal and HD box. Kse sa smart, the subscriber has a free hand on choosing which kind of cellphone he wants whether high end or cheap phones, whilst dun sa Cignal parang wala atang choice subscriber sa HD box so I think Cignal should see to it that the unit is AOK backed up with full service and warranty.

simple lang ang analogy mga bigan. yung perang binabayad ko sa cignal, gumagana pag ginagastos nila. so yung binabayaran ko sa cignal -- hd box, lnb, and whatnot -- dapat gumagana rin. hindi iyong wala pang isang buwan sira na. a responsible service provider would ensure na ang ibinebenta o ang ipinapa-lease niyang equipment ay tried and tested.

in fact, hindi nga pwedeng tawaging lemon lang yan pace box o remote -- kung anuman ang sira -- dahil based on the posts here ay sangkaterba na ang nagko-conk out. ang lemon, paisa-isang bagsak sa QC at hindi tulad nitong pace na pino-provide ng Cignal na 50 percent yata ay depektibo.
