Bitin na bitin ako
« on: May 20, 2009 at 07:27 PM »
Hi guys

My center speaker is just the WH2 wharfe, sooobrang bitin ako. Mahina masyado ang daldalan, kahit orig dvd, or from egreat or dibidi.

Will there be an improvement if i upgrade to 9CS?

It is hooked up nga pala sa Yamaha 363, max na yung volume ng center sa setting.

thanks!

I once owned a 9CS. Good speaker for start-up setup. Hindi ka mabibitin (unless you start itching ;D).

yup bro anchit, bigger drivers ang 9cm sa 9cs.

Dati naka US audio ako na center speaker paired with wharfes 8.3, bitin din talga ko sa dialog, naka +8 ata ako sa AVR. Nakahanap ako ng 8cs, +0 na lang ngayon sa AVR.

I can sell you a 9cs for only 4.4k and 9cm fir 6.2k. But you might want to consider the Polk Tsi series. A bit more expensive but way better sound than the wharfs. Come by my showroom so you can compare them. :)

;D same here bro anchit. used to have a wh-2 center as a newbie very satisfied ako lalo na sa price performance ratio but eventually once you go deeper into this hobby tweaking this, tweaking that and going into details, there was an itch to replace it. i auditioned the 9cs and 9cm but i went with the 9cm tangal kati ;D

goodluck bro ;)

Does it mean its more prudent not to scrimp on the center channel and go for the bigger center in the series if able?

If possible, its best to use the same size drivers in all your speakers including rears - then calibrate using your AVR to boost/cut the volume of each set depending on your preference.

The center speaker handles 80-90% of any movie content - it could be viewed as the most important speaker in a HT setup. ;)

put it this way, in a movie ...

How many explosions happens on the left or right side of the screen ?
How many conversations  happens on the right or left  side of the screen ?

Ideally all speakers should be identical.  This way when a jumbo jet pans from Left to Center to Right, it would sound like a jumbo jet moving from left  to Center to right. Now kung maliit yung center channel mo.. it would sound like a Jumbo jet sa left side ..then magiging tora-tora pag nasa center channel na then it would transform back to a Jumbo jet again pag nasa Right Channel na....

Ok but should it pose an issue if a center speaker has a larger driver or smaller driver than the fronts and maybe rears.  Some speaker brands only have 1 center speaker for a series.  For example, MA BRs only have 1 5 1/2" drivers for its entire bronze line.  Does it mean that the BR2 with 6 1/2" would drown out the center or do we just have to set the fronts to a lower level as compared to the center?

On the other hands, there are some shops who are advising to get bigger centers since a lot of their clients, like Anchit are "nabibitin" with the centers of the same size driver.

Lowering the volume of the other speakers is not the  perfect solution to get balanced sound,  its like saying thats its okay to use a smaller speaker on the left channel with a bigger speaker on the right channel and fixing it by adjusting the balance knob. The frequency response of the speakers will not be the same.

I would rather  have a bigger center channel than a smaller center

Going back to the MA BR scenario, sorry am really a newbie, if you have a bookshelf 1 x 6-1/2 (BR2) and a 2 x 5-1/2 center (LCRBR), would that be ok?  The BR 5 floorstander on the other hand, has 2 5-1/2 drivers.  Would that be a better fit?

anchit,

If I may,  have Anthony tweak your Wharfe center speaker.  You can have him change your tweater to Velodyne so that you will get high resolution highs which will clear up the vocals.  The cross-over may be tweaked also so that the it will be at par with your clones.  Discuss this with him if possible.

Good luck.

Look for a center channel with a higher sensitivity and easier to drive like specs with 8 ohms and 90 sensitivity

agree! (di naman yata kasi nagkakalayo specs ng wh/cs/cm in terms of sensitivity kaya baka pareho lang sa pandinig mo).......kaya lang baka  timbre matching naman maging issue (?)

ang alam ko maraming nagsasabing ok ang center ng yamaha ah, so for sure sa speaker talaga. and yes, Anthony can make you a better center, yan ay kung may time pa itong master A sa dami ng ventures  ;)

if I may add...

noong pinickup ko ang 5 footer FS ni Doc Mel, got a chance to audition his ht setup using the new FS (likewise) from Anthony (DIY_Master) but using the old center na ka-match ng kinuha kong FS. I noticed kaagad na bitin ang center at hindi match sa new FS nya. kaya ayun, nagpagawa agad si Doc ng matched center AND the best part?...

...nasa akin na rin ang center  ;D :o  and as usual very friendly price (thanks amigong Mel)...

and so both setup, live happily ever after ;D

Hi guys

My center speaker is just the WH2 wharfe, sooobrang bitin ako. Mahina masyado ang daldalan, kahit orig dvd, or from egreat or dibidi.

Will there be an improvement if i upgrade to 9CS?

It is hooked up nga pala sa Yamaha 363, max na yung volume ng center sa setting.

thanks!

just as a side comment... a friend of mine has a big room, he's now using two centers speakers

EY Bro Anchit,

Saw your front speakers in your thread and they are quite big right? You might be better off with the CM.  Like Qguy said earlier and if I may derive, your center speaker should be a real workhorse ;D  And if like you said, you're bitin..... :D

Cheers!

Bro, better upgrade your center channel.  Center channel is usually use for dialogues in movies.  Better to have a more powerful center than L&R.  Better also if you will pair it with the same series of your speakers to have a balance sound "timber matching".

Question for Wharfedale owners, doesn't the "mahina" characteristic also have something to do with the laid-back sound of Wharfedale speakers?

When I listened to both Wharfedales and Infinitys kasi, ang layo ng difference ng sound characteristic nila.

A beefy A/V Receiver will solve your problem pre... if you have the money to upgrade na, pero kung kulang pa, a speaker (center) replacement will do for awhile :)
