Easy Movie Jukebox for our Egreat NMT's in MINUTES
« on: Jun 04, 2009 at 06:09 PM »
hi, just wanted to show an easy to setup Movie Jukebox for our
beloved egreat which I have been using since October. It has
had many revisions and the latest is version 1.0.17.  I will
be using in this guide the version 1.0.16 which I learned from
other forums that this has been their officially latest and
stable version.

Note: personally the version I still use as of this day is version
1.0.11 which was released around october of 2008. It had
no YAMJ GUI so every setup was text based on the command prompt.
I only used version 1.0.16 for this guide only.

Here are the installation instructions:

   1. Be sure to have Java installed in your system. If you don't have it yet
you can download it from here,

               http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

   2. Download the YAMJ files from here,

               http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list

Create a New folder and name it YAMJ or any name you like
and extract them to a that folder in your PC.Do not create a sub-folder,
just extract it and it will create all the required folders.

   3. Download Mediainfo from here

               http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612

just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
              zip file there.

NOTE: be sure to search for the file under "MediaInfo - Command line" at the bottom page
and not the "MediaInfo - Graphic interface". they both work but the GUI interface
has some annoying popups that could confused users.

           4. download the YAMJ Gui from here

               http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config

and extract them inside the YAMJ folder

When everything else has been extracted, your folder would look like this

Installation of Movie Jukebox on egreat (BE SURE THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET FOR THIS TO WORK)

NOTE: In this guide I will be seting up an egreat with an internal hard drive. All the movies
are in this drive. If your setup is on a network then just click on the appropriate
buttons on the YAMJ GUI and select the corresponding directories.

   1. Be sure that you have your NMT connected to your PC via usb slave
   2. Go to the YAMJ folder in your PC and double click on YAMJ GUI exe file
   3. Click on "select dir" and go to your NMT drive and select the folder where the movies
are located. then select "on the NMT's Hard Disk" and automatically the NMT path
will be loaded with the correct settings.

           4. Next is to select the directory where we would want ur "index.html" file to be placed.
In my case since my movies are in M:\Movies-HD, I would want my index file to be at
the root directory M:\. Once this is done just click on "Add" and just cancel the
popup that comes after it ( it will just ask you to add a description for the library
entry) and click on the "save" button.
           5. that's it. now all we have to do is double click on the "My_YAMJ.cmd" and watch it
      just finish.

Running the Movie Jukebox.

        1. to run the movie jukebox just connect back your egreat to your TV and power it up.
        2. once it is up click on the hard drive and automatically your screen will now be
           in the jukebox format.

NOTE #1 : if you don't like your moviejukebox to run automatically when you select your
hard drive in the nmt menu then just rename the "index.htm"  to any other name like "main.htm"
as long as it is in html format. When this is done, when you select the hard drive in your nmt no
moviejukebox will appear. to run the movie jukebox go the the rightmost icon when the hard drive is
selected and you will see that the html file is there. click on it to run movie jukebox.

NOTE #2: When you add new movies to the jukebox, correct movie details or add new posters
and fanart, you can re-run YAMJ by just clicking on the My_YAMJ.cmd file. Assuming that
you haven't changed where the movies are stored, YAMJ should re-run and add the new files
to the index. Otherwise run the YAMJ GUI first.

NOTE #3: If the posters in your jukebox does not match the movie file then what I do is
go to the IMDB site and search for the movie. copy and use the number as the name of the
movie file from the URL of that movie, like this

                http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/

use tt1038988 as the name of the movie with the wrong poster.

There are other ways to correct the posters but I think this is the simplest.

Note #4: almost all the settings in the moviejukebox properties are set to default. You can
change most of the settings to your liking, like how many movies and rows you would like
per page, how many movies you would like to show in the NEW menu, etc...

Here are pics on my system with movie jukebox version 1.0.16 running.

hi sir, mas maraming features yung kay joms pero dapat matiaga ka dahil medyo matrabaho.
This one is very easy and you can have it up and running in no time. This is for those who want
to have a jukebox without having to spend large amount of time and work.

I've tried both.  I agree with mrm.  Mas maraming features ang lil jukebox joms...you can click on the profile of actresses and more info about the movie whereas YAMJ is faster to create but only display a short synopsis of the movie.  I prefer YAMJ because everything's automatic. I don't have luxury of time to create links for lil jukebox and I have lots of movies.

Saw this in action and it works great :)  The main issue I had with Jukeboxes before is the rocket science degree it requires for you to set up (either that or the meticulousness of an accounting professoinal).  Most we want is the cover art and a small synopsis, other related info, while useful, isn't as critical as having a pretty box art photo :)

follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.

1.  then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43).
2.  connect your external drive to your computer.
2.  set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located
     - kung external drive gamit mo ok lang, point mo lang dun sa drive and folder nung mga movie files mo.
3.  then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1".
4.  set "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored" to the directory where you install the application.
5.  click "Add" then click "Save".

6.  the open the directory where you install the application.
7.  My_YAMJ.cmd file should be present, double click on that file and wait.
8.  the application will create the "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder.
9.  when done, copy "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder to the root of your external drive.

10.  connect your external drive to your m34a on the bottom usb port
     - bakit bottom? kasi USB_DRIVE_A-1 yung select mo previously.

done.

hope that helps..  :)

done in my 31b!  looks great!

just some inquiries:

1.  how do you uninstall? (if need be)
2.  how do you do for an external drive?  tried direct to the external same process but won't.  may need to be attached to the NMT while process is done?

thanks and hope to get some response from users!

cheers!

Yes you can attached it to your nmt(as a usb drive) and just use yamj gui.
Just like what "loniticz" instructed above.

You can also do this; (taken from network media tank forums http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=20270)

Problem is popcorn hour does not auto-mount drives. This method
allows yamj and the popcorn hour to SEE mutiple drives as one drive.

This is for windows XP only, vista instructions will differ

Assume you have a Drive C with your Jukebox in a folder
called MyJubebox right of the root as in (C:\Myjukebox)

Assume also you have a drive Q that has some media
Assume also you have a drive P that has some media

Step 1
in c:\MyJukebox create an emty folder called Drive-Q
also create one called Drive-P
Step 2
right click on MyComputer and choose Manage
click on Storage
then click in the right side window on Disk Management (Local)
Step 3
Right Click on Drive-Q
choose Change Drive Letters and Paths
Click Add
Click on Browse and Browse to C:\MyJukebox\Drive-Q
Click Ok
got back to Step 3 if you have another Drive

Step4
make sure you have no references in yamj to the other 2 drives (Q & P)
Re-Run Yamj, it will now index the new drives. The popcorn hour also
sees this as one drive.

Step5
watch tv

What really happened here?
go and look in the C:\Myjukebox Folder. You will see the new folders now look like drives. Windows has 'mounted' the 2 drives in that folder. If you select that 'folder' you will be transported to Drive Q/P...

hope that helps.

hi, have you tried another version of YAMJ GUI? how about if that still fails try other
versions of YAMJ too. If it still reboots when you run My_YAMJ, then maybe you should
try the text base method(command prompt), without the use of YAMJ GUI. That's what I was using  before
the version YAMJ ver 1.0.16. Look at the "README" file  inside YAMJ folder for the instruction on how to do this.

hi, are the drives you are referring usb HDD? is it only slow when you browse the menu? ext3 formatted
drives have faster read times than ntfs formatted one when read by nmt's.

you can also check this out...

hi sir, what version of YAMJ are you using? Did it create the "index.htm" file? This html file
should be on the root directory of the NMT hard disk for it to run automatic.

wala ako nakitang "index.htm" file sa nmt hdd, i selected the root directory of the hdd kung saan ilalagay yung "index.htm"  after updating the list wala ako nakitnag "index.htm"  sa root directory pero meron itong folder "jukebox".
tried re-running the my_yamj.cmd and this time it worked! pero some posters wala & mali.
how do i correct the poster that does not match with the movie?

here you go chief...

NOTE #3: If the posters in your jukebox does not much the movie file then what I do is
go to the IMDB site and search for the movie. copy and use the number as the name of the
movie file from the URL of that movie, like this

                http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/

use tt1038988 as the name of the movie with the wrong poster.

There are other ways to correct the posters but I think this is the simplest.
