Milk (viva release in Widescreen and some surprise)
« on: Jun 20, 2009 at 11:33 PM »
I saw this today and I got it. Released from viva video. It costs P375.

I thought ok, no features except for thse crappy ones they made like:
Theatrical Trailer, Interview, Film Clips and Behind the Scenes.

This one is a shock to all those familiar with Viva Video's releasing of VCD quality DVDs.

A matter of fact, it ain't vcd quality anymore.

IT HAS SUBTITLES. TAKE NOTE, ENGLISH SUBTITLES.

I WAS SHOCKED, and happy. Finally, they're listening. After the failure of Twilight and Vicky Cristina Barcelona they did it right this time.

It comes with original special features, too.
Deleted Scenes
3 Featurettes

and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

VIVA's finally doing great and I'm hoping they keep this up with New Moon and Drag Me to Hell.

Great. Great.

NOTE: uh-oh, just found out that this is DVD5 only. So, a chunk of beef blew out of my mouth. Frigging VIVA.

Is this DVD9?  I am still wary of any Php 375 Viva release.  And wouldn't touch one until it had been confirmed by multiple sources.

Even if it were DVD-9, the cover for me is cringe-worthy (at least the other 375 Viva's; haven't seen this particular title yet). I saw a copy of Burn After Reading where the colors are so misaligned. Just horrible.

Actually, kaya sa DVD5.  Depending on the compression.  C Interactive used to squeeze everything onto DVD5,  buti na lang, they see the light of day and moved up to DVD9.

Caveat pa rin.  I still think it's DVD5.

eckxs, please check the inner rim of the disc.  Nakalabel ba na DVD5, and how many barcode does it have on the underside (near the rim)  of the disc.

Since I have no interest in this film, I didn't buy it BUT bought The Reader, and behold.... It's DVD5.  So Php 375 down the drain again...

Unless proven otherwise, I still believe Milk is DVD5

Buy at your own risk.  I did with The Reader and regret it...

Ok. dang it! :(( Like you said, it's DVD5. I'm upset. Viva will always manipulate people including new collectors. So thanks, dude.

I was gypped a lot of times too when I was a new collector (Brokeback Mountain, etc).  Magnavision and C Interactive used to release DVD5s too, but both have since shifted to DVD9s, Viva still clings to DVD5 for their Php 375 (new release) line.  If they price those titles at 550, as long as its DVD9 and have decent artwork, most collectors would gladly pay...  I personally would have pick up Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Taken, Slumdog Millionaire, and maybe Twilight, but as it is, I will pass.   Stupid Viva...

P375 for a DVD5?

Just thinking out loud here, If I were in your case I would return it and leave a note for VIVA the reason why you want it returned. Okay I know someone will say we are a minority, but at least get their attention,  instead of me griping and just accept that I was short changed.

Pirata nga DVD9 na sa murang halaga lang then this VIVA sells their DVD5's for P375? darn! Then they blame people for buying jacks and put those sellers to jail? (well, I don't think they do).  Dapat ang VIVA ang ireklamo. But who will penalize them? They themselves are part of the police.  :(

Ok Im cool.  ;D

Slumdog Millionaire has no original features. I hate it. Much to the store's disappointment, they played the pirated version with original features and subtitles. Poor us! They jack off our money. darn.

Yeah. bummer. I might as well shop online and pay additional shipping fee cost than to buy this PIRATED original dvd. :D

Actually, almost 100% of new Viva releases at Php 375 are DVD5.  So if see a new title priced that way, be wary...
