plan ko mg upgrade / buy ng new CD player sa December (existing cdp ay California Audio labs DX1 with MF V DAC and MF x 10D), any suggestion? mga 40t to 75t yun budget ko. worth it kaya mg palit? (almost same cost lang with my present CDP)

bro, what is the amp and the speaker to go with your cdp?

new cdp will be use at x pre and xa50 (temporary)
speaker will be monitor audio silver.

pati amp palit ako pero one by one lang.

if you will stick with MA as your speakers, might as well look for a cdp with a character opposite that of MA (slightly bright and forward).

nad, njoe tjoeb, exposure, arcam...are some of the brands that would fit in.

exposure being the most controlled and laid back sound followed by njoe tjoeb. arcam and nad are slightly laidback and would also do good if the rest of the gears in the chain would contribute to the same character.

 with your budget, start the audition with njoe tjoeb and exposure sir. goodluck!

The Cayin tubed cd players are also a good candidate...tweakable din ang mga capacitors and opamps so that you can tune it with you MA (if you will retain this for good).  Or just maybe......the stock cayins may tame the MA's highs.

Bring your speakers to Audio Amplified so you can hear the actual outcome.

Dominic, since you already have a CAL Transport, my suggestion is to get (look, find) a CAL Tube DAC (I think the model is SIGMA)...it has only 1 tube, ang EXCELLENT DAC as well, got great reviews...Ask edwin if he can find one for you...Or contact simple, he was selling one before...dami mo pang matitipid in case you want to upgrade your amp, pre-amp, etc. As I mentioned to you before when we met, MFs and MAs do mate well...lalo na that sa Stereophile, when reviewing MAs, they usually use MF amps...a good friend used MA RS6 with an all MF amp/cdp set-up, GALING!!

yup. its going to open up a lot of options kaya lang a lot others may not be found in there. these can be found normally in preowned shops and the other non-participating dealers in the show.

in my system, only my speakers can be auditioned during the past hi-fi shows. the rest of my gears came mostly from forum members and preowned shops.

anyhow, its a good experience as you will be hearing many different versions of your favorite cd/lp. there you will actually hear what is meant by warm, analytical, clinical, bright, dark, dull, laidback, forward, and many other adjectives we use to describe the way we perceive sound.

i always bring at least 1 cd everytime i go to audio exhibits....
