I already got my most Awaited DVDs na. :) Citizen Kane and Godfather. But there are still many DVDs I just can't wait to have.
1. The Mission starring Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons. I already heard plans of it being released next year.
2. Star Trek DVDs Special editions of the Star Trek movies. Star Trek: The Motion Picture has just come out, and Star Trek: Wrath of Khan SE follows next year. Then there are the season box sets of Star Trek: TNG
3. Star Wars DVDs
4. Platinum Editions of Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast
5. Roots starring LeVar Burton
6. Highlander TV series box sets
These next titles may or may not come out, but I'd go NUTS if they eventually do make it to DVD:

Well, Star Trek is supposedly a future where there is finally equality and racism is finally abolished. Theoretically, even Filipinos may be a part of the Federation. In fact, I'm quite sure of it. So really, the positive future presented by Star Trek (well, not counting the Borgs and the Klingons and other hostile species :) ) is something Filipinos could dream of.
Well, back to topic, I forgot to mention that one of the DVDs that I'm really waiting for is Moulin Rouge this December.

Like Komikero, I already got my most awaited DVD for 2001, which was The Godfather movies.
But I still have some titles that I can't wait to get my hands on:
- The Original Star Wars Trilogy, although George Lucas has said that we won't see this until after Episode III gets released (2005), but there's no harm in hoping those titles get released before that... :) And I hope we get the option to be able to see the original versions (and not only the Special Edition versions with all those edited/added scenes). If they can do that for the upcoming DVD release of ET, maybe they can also do that for SW...

As I intend to be a stout advocate of R3 DVD's, the most awaited DVD's for me are already available in the market, except that they are in R1, i.e. Kevin Smith movies with the exception of Dogma, a more complete Oliver Stone box set (I think Astro sells only the 4-disc set), Kurosawa films, etc.
I likewise await the inclusion of the DTS track in R3 DVD's, The scarcity of which is the very reason (though false as it may seem) why I patronize pirated DVD's that have DTS tracks.

If I were given the choice, I'd personally choose R1 DVDs rather than go for pirated DVDs because at least R1 DVDs are official releases and money I paid would partly go to the people who actualy created the movie, and not to somebody in a hidden warehouse somewhere with DVD replicating equiptment.
I too am a BIG supporter of R3. Just as long as they are faithful in content to the R1 version. But there are some titles simply won't see the light of day as R3 titles, specially those coming out of Criterion, and these includes some of the more popular Akira Kurosawa films. They have made it publicly known that they will be releasing ONLY R1 titles.
The R3 of Unbreakble clearly shows us that Buena Vista doesn't care to share with us their VISTA Series here in Asia, prefering to keep the 2 disc fully packed version in R1 only.
I want to support R3 as much as I can, but these companies just make it really hard.

I've tried playing an R1 disc, and it didn't work. I think I've mentioned this in another thread, I got a Pioneer 535K, and from what I've gathered, other 535 owners got theirs region-free. Dunno why mine isn't. Frustrating, isn't it? :D

Hi BasketCase. I bought mine sa SM Makati. A friend was able to get a region-free Pioneer 535K from Ambassador which, I think, is the main distributor of these players.

Even though MCA/Universal hasn't even announced plans yet, I'm hoping that they release the entire 6-year run of the "Northern Exposure" TV series on DVD. That early 90's show is my all-time favorite TV series ever.

As a sucker for talky dramas, I especially await Stephen Frears' "Dangerous Liaisons" with Glenn Close and John Malkovich.
Also, Mike Leigh's "Secrets and Lies". There might be a few Cockney colloquialism that might obscure a full appreciation of the film, but the talky nature of the film is an ideal for the DVD format.

Season 2 comes out September 23 .. with one disc only for special features.
As of this time, all major characters are bound to return for season 3 ... except ... Sarah Wynter (she plays Kate and supposed to be Jack's love interest in the coming season) and Penny Johnson (Sherry Palmer, the lady McBeth of television, so evil you can't help but love her. Critics are pushing her for an Emmy). Those two didn't get their contracts yet ... and Penny said she's not gonna wait for it. If they want her, they'll give it to her, otherwise she's looking at other scripts at the moment. Too bad if she will leave the show since she's one of the strongest characters and personality there ... :(

"The Adventures Of Robin Hood"--143 episodes over 4 seasons in the UK
from 1955-1959!!! Year 1 has been out in R2 since March, 2003 & Year 2
just came out. Seems to be very slow in coming to R1, so I've been buying
them from Black Star UK (now SendIt.com).
Spawned a whole series of historical-type half hour shows--Buccaneers,
William Tell, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Lancelot, etc. And I'll buy them all if they
start releasing those also!!!

Does anyone know this 1987 movie? AN engrossing low-budget horror flick. This movie managed to let me lose my appetite back then.

Watched this many times back when TCM was TNT in cable. Stars Amy Irving as a mute ballet dancer and Michael Ontkean as a struggling singer who met and fall in love. What else? I Will Always Wait For You by Burton Cummings were used as its theme.

The Koreans will have a 3-disc release.. the early released specs contain some of those in the Japanese (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-videos/did-160/pid-1010957676/) 3-disc release.. but seeing as it's Korean, no subs on the extras..madmad (http://www.madmad.co.kr/dvd/detail.html?dvd_id=48555) puts it as a July 11th release.. no word about the packaging yet, though..

Thanks sir. Actually saw the Japan set, hence the pic, but didn't consider it cause of their price ;D But didn't see that Korean set in YesAsia. Another 3-disc set without subs on the speacial feats? Gotta think ::)

Yes, there’s already a DVD released of this fun vampire movie but hopefully they will release a kind-of anniversary/special/deluxe edition of this movie. With an all-cast commentary, director’s, interviews, vintage featurette, outtakes, video gallery, the works. It would be really nippy if they released it this time with a bonus soundtrack cd ala limited edition SUSPIRIA 3-Disc released. Songs in the movie are all cool. The Come To Me theme used as an intrumental is certainly sexy. No wonder Amy fell for Jerry Dandridge and takes the bite.
