Saw the pilot. It reminded me of Friends so will be watching the next ones... Hooked so far!
Blue french horn! ;D
-
Next to NBC's The Office, methinks this is the best sitcom currently on-air. This video (http://myspace.com/robinsparkles) ought to convince the uninitiated.
Let's go to the mall! ;D
-
I still can't figure out how Joss Whedon is connected to this show.
-
I just started watching my Season One boxed set.
This is easily the funniest traditional sitcom currently on air. Yeah, I think the Friends comparisons are accurate. I haven't enjoyed a sitcom this much since maybe Friends' first season. I mean, it's so good that I think I can soon watch Neil Patrick Harris and no longer think: "Doogie Howser."
Not yet though, but maybe soon. ;D
-
I still can't figure out how Joss Whedon is connected to this show.
Maybe because Willow is in it. And three episodes back, Inara played a barista. The same episode also featured Buffy's Andrew.
Aside from Friends, the show seems to be inspired by the clever storytelling and innovative camera work of the BBC's Coupling as well.
-
I'm nearly done with season 1. It was just okay for me until The Pineapple Incident which I think is when it really took off. I also see where this can be compared to Coupling and the aforementioned episode in fact reminds me of a great one from Coupling: Remember This.
...and now I'm listening to Slipper When Wet.
"Shot through the heart..." ;D
-
This is scheduled to begin in Star World on May 31 at 8pm.
Edited to add: I didn't know it's on ETC as well. 8:30pm on Mondays. It shows the 4th episode of season 1 this week.
-
Season 2, Episode 22: Something Blue - Season finale
One couple got hitched. The other broke up. Barney as usual steals the show. It would be a long wait for that two syllables: da-ry! ;D
-
My son and I did a marathon of this early summer. Loved it.
"Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what? Tell the people what?"
"Shot through the heart..." ;D
This song was blasting at our neighbor's house and my son heard it and said si Swarley daw yun. ;D
-
Moist. Moist. Moist. Moist. ;D
-
just finished watching the 1st episode of season 3.. ang taba ni mandy moore.. anyway, what could this be?
a website marshall sends barney at the end of the episode:
http://www.slapcountdown.com/
-
It references the classic episode, Slap Bet from last season. I wasn't able to track it down but Barney still owes Marshall a few more slaps for losing a bet.
-

oh yeah.. now i remember.. i thought barney chose "the one big slap" over the "5 slaps but not knowing when it's going to happen" thing.. got to have the season 2 dvd to refresh my memory..
-
Best episode from previous season: Robin Sparkles, teen pop star. Let's Go To The Mall. Search for the music video on youtube.

And ETC was stupid enough to spoil the surprise. They were showing parts of the video as a promotional clip. Idiots.
-
The slap bet was an instant classic... I think Barney owes Marshall 3 more slaps.
Oh and btw, Ted initially think he won the break-up because of Mandy? What's up with that?
-
How I Met Your Mother's "Mother" is rumored to be coming before the end of this season (or will this be the end of the series, already?), and it's allegedly...
Alicia Silverstone.
No wonder Ted's so hung up on Robin. Robin's way hotter. ;D
-
Britney meets Your Mother (http://www.tv.com/story/10994.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=news&tag=headlines;title;0)
-
And because Britney's doing a guest appearance, Alicia Silverstone dropped out. She knew her "special appearance" would be upstaged.
-

What? I read about Alicia's multi episode arc on TV Guide online. Was looking forward to it. Too bad... Geez they should just drop Britney and bring back Mandy Moore to appease Ms. Silverstone.
-
Would be cool to have Drew Barrymore as the Mother instead
-
Best episode from previous season: Robin Sparkles, teen pop star. Let's Go To The Mall.
And Robin Sparkles has a second music video! ;D
I can't wait for the next DVD so we can see it in full.

Sandcastles In The Sand... way to go.. Barney!!! ;D ;D ;D Didn't see that one coming... really!
-
I really enjoyed this week's episode, but WTH accent was Dawson trying to pull off? ;D ;D ;D
-
way to go.. Barney!!! ;D ;D ;D Didn't see that one coming... really!
Apparently, fans have been wishing for it since the zip, zip, zip episode of season 1. I'm somewhat indifferent at the moment but curious to see what the writers plan to do. Hopefully, it's something we haven't seen before.
WTH accent was Dawson trying to pull off? ;D ;D ;D
A lame Canadian one I think. Hehe...
-

More than the accent, I'm very concerned about the fact that his forehead seems to grow an extra inch every year. :o
;D

;D
Oh... so that was who he was... didn't recognized at first coz of that distracting forehead. ;D ;D ;D
-
A lame Canadian one I think. Hehe...
The first time I heard it, I turned to my wife and said, "Do you know anyone from work who talks like that, 'cause I certainly don't!" ;D Even Newfies don't talk like that. heheh
And if I recall correctly, the dude really had a lot of real estate space in his forehead even back in his Dawson's Creek days. ;D
-
31st birthday, eh? Hmmmmmm.....
-
31st birthday, eh? Hmmmmmm.....
yeah wtf was that... wtf! wtf! wtf! ;D :o
-
So I guess Ted and Robin are together again on his 31st Birthday.
-
Either that, or
Lily and Marshall finally move out, and some unforeseen circumstance leads to Robin living at Ted's apartment (a la Rachel living with Joey for a short bit in FRIENDS).

Possible but ayaw ko maging FRIENDS ang HIMYM. Hehe!
-
Same here... I hated friends.
-
way to go.. Barney!!! ;D ;D ;D
WTG indeed!!!
-
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!
This is my NEW Friends.. :)
I love Barney!!
-
The new season episodes of the fall season are beginning to trickle in. The fourth season premier is now available along with The Big Bang Theory. Heroes is just a couple of hours away too.

Heroes is already online, but so far it's the 720p version. It'll take too long, I'll wait a few more minutes. ;D
-
Enjoyed the episode where they tease Barney with different names...S.w.a.r.l.e.y!
Robin is H-O-T! 8)
-
Robin - parang every season nagiging HOT!! :)
Barney is so cute grabe!!
I so looooooooove Barney!!
-
hey! might be off topic, but i've been looking for ORIGINAL boxsets of HIMYM locally (dunt want to import). anybody knows where? kahit used! I can't stand the quality of p*rated copies hehe.
-
This week's episode is probably the best of the season. Dang, I miss being single and having to go on the hunt (and also being hunted, haha!).
-
Hehe. Naked Man!
-
^ It works two out of three times!
-
I wonder how they'll keep Cobie Smulders' tummy from showing now that she's pregnant.. I don't think they'll make it part of the story because it will really mess it up.. Alyson Hannigan's pregnancy is easy to write in because they are going in that direction already..
-
^Funny how Alyson's pregnancy was "worked in". ;D

Just started watching this last month...i love this!!!!!!!! kudos to Doogie, i mean Niel patrick harris..he steals the show for me...hahahahahaha
Im still half way through season 2... so i havent read any previous posts on this thread to avoid spoilers, ;D ;D ;D im really hoping robin and ted stay together...that would really bum me out if they break up or something...i know ted told his kids that was "aunt" robin, but who knows...im still hoping they can make it work.. ;D
-
Season 2 ending sucked!!!!! damn it sucked...well, i guess i knew it was coming eventually but still, it sucked!!! >:( >:( >:(
-
Have you guys visited the website they were surfing on last night's show? ;D
http://www.canadiansexacts.org
;D
-
^ Funny! Is that Alan Thicke?
-
Yup. As a Growing Pains viewer, that really made me laugh out loud. ;D
-
So red herring lang pala yung about Stella. I think it was supposed to be "her" yellow umbrella and not his. About the goat, other than the episode "The Goat" (317), I know it was mentioned at least 1 other time, maybe 2. Can anyone remember which episode/s exactly?
-
OK, we've waited for it long enough: Season 5 starts today!
-
Anyone here watching this series? I am really hooked! Although I am just in season 3. Enjoying every episode.
-
It's legen wait for it dary!
Yung characters ay very similar sa FRIENDS.
-
i'm a big fan of this tv series. watched it a lot of times now actually. siguro mga 6-7 times ko na pinaulit-ulit panoorin hehehe. season 1-4 is really funny and good story as well. Season 5-7 somehow dropped the ball on the humor side but is still very good overall. story wise mas gusto ko yung season 7 sa lahat since mabilis na andar ng story about tying everything together although nakakabitin yung season ender. can't wait for season 8 :D

There's already a thread for this here:

Merging the two threads. Please use the search function first before opening a new thread.

As one of the posters who spoke very positively about this show early on in this thread, my opinion has done a 180. The show's trying too hard. For a long stretch, they seemed to forget they were a sitcom and were supposed to make people laugh. That entire Marshall's dad storyline was a bummer, and they dragged it out for months. Nowadays I'd say the funny to corny/downer episodes ratio is 1:4.
And now they're saying it's very possible that they'll extend the show and change the title even after "Mother" is revealed.
My suggestion: How to Beat a Dead Horse... With Your Mother.
-
Thanks for merging. It's quit odd cause I did use the search button first, kaya lang walang lumitaw.
Anyway, glad to have seen this thread.
Add: my bad, i did not click on the "Search in topic subjects only" at the option parameters, that explains it.
Ty!

Agree. Although, the last 3 episodes of the season was somewhat a return to form. I was glad to see cupcake girl again. Still, like you said, beating a dead horse. They should've just resolved this within four seasons or so. But unlike the Brits who are geniuses at this, that's how American television is.
-
Not to be KJ, pero na reveal na ba kung anong episode lumitaw yung 'mother'?

Couldn't agree more. This show has stretched its premise far longer than what was prudent. You can't help but feel that you're being led aimlessly through the tired plot. Even Barney's antics have ceased being amusing.
-

wala pa, baka paabutin nila ng season 10 ;D
still my 2nd favorite series, next to big bang theory ;D
btw i always laugh when barney starts with 83% of .... ;D

Yey start na Season 8... ;D

Thanks for the tip ;D! Challenge accepted!

Sana ipakita na nila sa season finale in May. guitar bass player daw in Barney and Robin's wedding e. Baka panay likod na naman ipakita.haha
Well, in any case, Season 9 will be the last one, so konting tiis na lang, I guess.

May theory nga na baka nababaliw na si Ted. At baka imagined din ang mga anak nya pati yung mother....hahaha! Imagine, 8 years na, hindi pa rin tumatanda yung mga bata...

Sa imdb yata bro and other sites as well. Final na talaga Season 9 (at long last). Grabe magkwento tatay ng "kids". Lahat ng minute details sinali sa kwento. Lol.

thanks, checked it online din and it seems like it is finally over. people's comments online were right though, this series deserved a proper ending.
unlike desperate housewives siniksik sa last few episodes ang ending.
-
for me the episode was good since it touches on the emotional side of the story. it not only tells the story that Ted is really ready to meet "The One" but that the gang has gone full circle and has become completely mature (well maybe not exactly for Barney LOL). Medyo deep yung episode na yun and I like it.

Ewan ko ba. For me parang filler episode lang e. Parang nagkwento lang si Ted ng "what if" for the most part of the episode.
Come on Ted, get on with the canon storyline. This isnt animè where filler episodes are normal. Hahaha

isa pang crazy theory: the mother died shortly after the 2nd child that's why the kids have to endure 8 years of too much information instead of just asking their mother the short version

or may schizophrenia si ted at wala talaga syang kausap. ;D
-
Yup, yan ang naisip ko nung napanood ko yung latest episode. Baliw na si ted. Imagination nya lahat yung nangyari, so what else has he just imagined? His wife, his kids, his friends?
-
or may schizophrenia si ted at wala talaga syang kausap. ;D
Pwede!!! Mas magandang twist yan ;D
-
did a little backreading, itutuloy kaya nila si alicia silverstone :)
ano na ba itsura nito ngayon, baka pwede sya maging mother. ;D
-
i think Alicia Silverstone would be too old to play the mother.
-
Will watch episode 23 later...
Episode 22 was funny. Niyari nila si Barney for his bachelor's party...
The Karate Kid part was funny as well ;D
-
Ep 23 is so-so. Mukhang it really is time to lay this tv show to rest na. :D

If you've ever watched this show, you HAVE TO watch this:
http://www.eonline.com/news/441009/how-i-met-your-mother-ted-s-pissed-off-kids-finally-speak-out-watch-now
Just when I thought the show could never make me laugh again.
-
HIMYM Season 9 started today with two episodes. who has watched this already?
-
I saw it last night, and the episodes were OK. I REALLY like the casting of Milioti as the Mother, though. I thought the producers would go for a more familiar or famous name, or bring back one of the ladies that Ted had dated before, but first seeing Milioti's face on the train station during last season's finale was a VERY pleasant surprise. (Loved her on Once: The Musical, and I can see a song and dance number with her in an upcoming episode)
Also, really liked the chemistry between her and Lily, and Ted, based on the eps last night.
-
Anybody see the latest episode?
Mukhang totoo nga,
the mother will die in the end!
unless of course, this is just a wild misdirect!
-
Pwede, tapos kaya nag kekwento na lang sya sa mga kids nya.
-
That part where they were saying that that moment might be the last time that they're hanging out together as a group was really sad. Kinda how Friends was in the last few episodes of the final season.
-
I don't get it, porke may new baby suddenly Rome is a good idea? Isn't that more of a hassle para sa mga bata?
-
ok. the ending proved what i suspected a long time ago. an april fool's joke nine years in the making.
-
If you go back to the first post on this thread:
Saw the pilot. It reminded me of Friends so will be watching the next ones... Hooked so far!
Blue french horn! ;D
Sheesh!

I knew I wasted my time! How I met your mother or how I met Robin? lol.
-
More like How I Met Your Mother Who I never Truly Love Than Your Aunt Robin.
-
Yellow Umbrella > Blue French Horn
The last season was full of bull. But have to say that I enjoyed majority of the series. In my mind season 9 never happened.
-
Kung kailan na-accept ko na yung pag-let go ni Ted kay Robin, the writers do this. So very gaya-gaya sa rachel and ross stroryline sa Friends.
-
They tried so hard to make the ending bitter sweet, sumobra naman.
-
^ sagwa no? all those season's trying to get to the "How I met your mother" and at the end he ends up with the person who is NOT their mother pala. How pathetic!
-
This scene wasn't aired. It was Sparkles singing "Mall" with the mother on bass, the robot was on stage too!

Sagwa, one of the worst ending I ever watched. And that is saying a lot! I watched Dexter & Burn Notice. Parehas crappy ending, pero eto, kakaibang crappy to. The last episode, yung may mga fast forwards na, it's like a car crash in slow motion.
-
More like How I Met Your Mother Who I never Truly Love Than Your Aunt Robin.
I think this is an unfair assessment. Porke ba nag-remarry si Ted after the Mother passed away, that means he didn't love the mother more than Robin?
Remember... Ted was never "the one" nung mother. Ang "the one" nung mother was Max. If the mother was still able to fall in love again with Ted after losing Max, then that should mean Ted can be able to love again after losing the mother.
-

Point is, it was robin all along. The whole story is about Robin all along. Kasuya na, it's not even a healthy relationship kapag sila. Ilang beses na bang naging sila? 2 times? Tapos pang huli ngayon? Just when I thought that Ted was no longer that hopeless guy who always fall to Robin despite Robin loving her job more, there he is again. The writers managed to bring back the old ted.
What happened to "I am not that guy anymore"?
Robin only wants Ted when she can't get Ted. It's an established fact that was pointed out a couple of seasons back.
Plus what the ever happened to Robin and Barney? A whole season of hyping the wedding and then 3 years later divorced na agad.
So yes, it is a fair assumption.
-
robin is too hot for ted.

It wasn't about Robin all along sir. It was just Robin at that point in Ted's life because that is what we were shown. The reason Ted and Robin didn't work when they were younger is because Ted wanted someone he could start a family with him, and that was not Robin. What he wanted, he found in the mother, and they did get married, had kids, and spent years together.
When he lost the mother, he wasn't looking for someone to start a family with anymore, kasi nahanap niya na yun eh, tapos nawala. At that point in their lives, then maybe that's when Robin and Ted became right for each other. It's seems like a very realistic approach to love and life and quite opposite to the "hopeless romantic" perspective.
-
^Good insight, Mr. White. We all have our opinion with the show and I respect yours.
We're not hoping for a "Hopeless Romantic" ending. We just want to have a good ending that gives justice to the whole point of the show. The ending is not even realistic to be honest, how can you date someone who's the ex of your best friend (sorry, Marshall) considering na kasal pa sila dati for three years, is this an indication na the gang would stop hanging out na? Because how ever we put it, it's mega awkward to sit in one table knowing that your best friend and your ex is dating.
-

for me, mostly my problem is how to executed the finale. they made it too complicated na hindi naman kailangan. expanding and hyping Barney and Robin's wedding since season 6 only for them to be married and divorced all in the same episode. they hype up the mother, made us care for her character, and made us love her only to have Ted meet her and just kill her off. Again in the same episode. that is just stupid.

tbh, I don't even know why people are so keen on pointing that out (the Ted-Robin thing) about the finale. It played out like an epilogue that just went on for several minutes. It just showed Ted taking just the very first steps of moving on (after 6 years!) since his wife's death. The vast majority of the finale totally focused on Ted and the mother; and it was pretty great, especially their conversation under the rain/yellow umbrella.
-
^Because it's exhausting to see Ted and Robin, they are like two washed up couples because wala na silang option. Like fail safe plan lang silang dalawa being together. (not exactly the general perspective, only my opinion)
-
The ending is not even realistic to be honest, how can you date someone who's the ex of your best friend (sorry, Marshall) considering na kasal pa sila dati for three years, is this an indication na the gang would stop hanging out na? Because how ever we put it, it's mega awkward to sit in one table knowing that your best friend and your ex is dating.
That is in fact, very realistic. There are lots of groups of friends in real life that go through this situation of falling in love / being interested in someone in the group who is the ex of someone else in the group. Only the most immature of people would see that as a problem. Only the weakest of friendships would be rattled by such a situation, and I think the group of friends in HIMYM - a mature group of longtime friends in their 40s - would see this Ted-Robin thing as a positive big moment for both of them. Ted's children approve, and Barney, Lily and Marshall seem to be the type of people that would approve as well. After all, if HIMYM teaches its viewers anything, it's that (1) you can never really tell who you'll fall in love with; and (2) people can fall in love more than once.

I agree, although "stupid" is such a harsh word :p Ang mali nung approach nila sa HIMYM is that they had a lot of "filler" seasons towards the end of the show's run that felt like pinapahaba lang nila yung show, and then they put together a finale that would have been great if it were stretched out for half a season - or maybe even worth one full season.
I like the narrative of the finale. I thought it was very mature in handling the realities of love and life. It just wasn't given enough time to breathe.

Why must it be because wala na silang option instead of sila talaga yung option ng isa't isa at that point in their lives?
They were wrong for each other when they were younger, but that doesn't mean they're wrong for each other around 15-20 years later.

There is an alternative ending. A shorter edited one. It ends after the wedding of Ted and the mom.
-
Good point naman yung kay heisenbergman. But I think the reason why a lot of people did not like the so-called epilogue is because it gave the mom a cheap ending.
What was the point of us waiting for 9 years to find out how Ted met their children's mother when in the end, it was going to be Robin whom he ends up with lang pala. Sure it's a cool happy ending for both characters but it felt so cheap, at least for me.
-
^ +1. It was like "YUN NA YON?!" Ako e.
-
It's a sad world to live in when people think that falling in love, staying in love together for 11 years and having two kids is "cheap" just because the other one dies and the one left behind moves on 6 years the death.
If it were someone else aside from Robin, would the reaction have been different?
If the episode ended with Ted saying "...and that kids is how I met your mother," would the finale have been any better?
To be perfectly honest, ending the finale with that would have been sweeter, but the kind of reactions I've been hearing about the Ted-Robin epilogue have been really weird. I mean, they didn't even end up together. The point wasn't that Ted and Robin were going to end up together. The point was that Ted was at that point ready to move on after losing the love of his life.
-
You're over-analyzing it. "Cheap" simply refers to the fact that they killed off the titular mother via Ted's narration just so they can justify the Ted-Robin relationship at the end; as if belittling the relevance of THE mother.
I guess they just ran out of brilliant ideas. I remember that the only reason why I stuck with the show is to find out who the mother would be. After they revealed it, all the other episodes were just lame, imo.
-
Ted and Robin didn't even end-up together, so there is no "Ted-Robin relationship" to speak of. What we saw was just the beginning of a man moving on six years after the death of the love of his life.
-
as a fan for 9 f*kn years i'm very disappointed with the ending. i'm ok with the mother dying but ted-robin again, cmon!
now i think lost had a better ending! :(

i agree that you've been over analyzing it. this is much simpler. how did you feel after watching the movie? did you feel good and satisfied? take note that this is a romantic comedy kind of sitcom and i certainly didn't feel good after watching it. sitcoms suppose to make you feed good after watching it. that's why they exist. the creators bummed everybody out by revealing that the mother was dead already after hyping her up making us like, neigh, love her character.
-
lol, funny. just yesterday I was thinking that the people who were so hung up about the Ted-Robin "relationship" (that wasn't even a relationship) were the ones over-analyzing the whole finale :))
Death is a part of life. Moving on after death is a reality of life. Moving on doesn't "cheapen" the previous relationship. It doesn't mean that Ted loved the mother any less and it doesn't belittle her relevance to the series. She is as relevant as how much one believes Ted loved her... and the finale showed that Ted loved her dearly. So the Ted-Robin ending shouldn't be something to get hung up on.
The big mistake - as I previously mentioned - was just that they crammed so much in the finale. If they had let those storylines breathe and gave it a treatment through multiple episodes, they could have had a more graceful exit. As it is, it's good but it could have been better, still not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

Ted decided to move on 6yrs after his wife died. So move on then or if you have the resources to produce a sitcom/series where the ending suits you, then do it.
For me, it was a good epilogue on how the mother of Ted's children was met. The show did not in any other way failed to show that. They (production outfit) were the ones who decided to end that way and it is their call, as against what your pre-conceived idea conjured what should be the perfect ending.

yes this i agree on. they should just throw away the first 22 episodes, save for maybe 3-4 episodes that were vital to the story, and spread out to the entire season what transpired on the last episode. too much happening at once in the last episode where the audience were not able to adjust to the things that were happening.

Not this sitcom, for the past few years:
As one of the posters who spoke very positively about this show early on in this thread, my opinion has done a 180. The show's trying too hard. For a long stretch, they seemed to forget they were a sitcom and were supposed to make people laugh. That entire Marshall's dad storyline was a bummer, and they dragged it out for months. Nowadays I'd say the funny to corny/downer episodes ratio is 1:4.
Luckily I quit the show after season 8, and only watched the finale. So I never got invested in the actual "mother," nor on the wedding of Barney and Robin. As such, the ending didn't bother me. Didn't love it, but I see how it's a good way to end the series, which all started with Robin and Ted's relationship. The finale actually makes perfect sense if you watch it immediately after watching the pilot.

Hahaha.

how did you feel after watching the movie? did you feel good and satisfied?
I actually did feel good about it...it gave me a broader understanding of life/choices [i believe]... realistic in my opinion...
simply put, this is what i learned from each character ^-^
Ted - People are capable of having more than 1 "True Love"... and Widowed people can and might still find another True Love
Barney - Realization that having a kid is what made him "Loving and Loyal" .. Not an ideal Husband,, but definitely makes a great Father
Lilly/Marshall - The "Marriage Talk" about how their marriage will fall apart if they don't make the decisions together
Robin - Not having Kids can be tough [even if you don't want to in the first place]... so she can only focus on her career.... but eventually finds someone she loves that will love her back despite not being able to start their own family..
