i have the first release, then 3-disc deluxe edition, then superbit and i hope this is the last! count me in skipper ;D
even the vcd when it came out! nauna kasi sa mga dvd releases eh!

nalilito na ren ako joriz. Was already thinking of getting the DE...this release totally throws everything out the window. I guess I have to wait a liitle longer to get any version of this. Any suggestions guys? ;D

ok here's my take
first release (single disc) - if you want the copy cheap (around $9.99 average for r1, 299 for the r3 with the disgusting black case dvd5, 375 for the clear copy dvd9 i think)
deluxe edition 3-disc - if you want a whopping supplement for the film i.e. making, featurettes etc. and a cooler packaging imagine 3 discs 1 film feature 2 disc supplements. imo, the real documentaries "the true story of black hawk down" and pbb (not to be mistaken for that p*noy big brother production) ambush in mogadishu" is a good supplement in this film to understand what really happened.
superbit edition - if you want a kicka$$ audio and video treatment. hardly noticeable but there are differences in some hi-fi gear. if it's a superbit, there's a dts if you're a sucker for that track like me! ;D imo again, the first transfer was already great, panning of sound is reference quality. a little grainy at times but that's how it was made by ridley scott.
and for the latest extended cut - this is the one i'm waiting for. i thought they're going to release some extended scenes on the 3 disc but i was disappointed. they included some 8 deleted scenes but not integrated to the film ala lotr ee's. i bought it for the supplements and this one's a real fav movie!
and if you're really undecided to get the last one (i hope), wait for the reviews when it comes available 6-6-6 ;D if it's really a good buy
last, we all know blu-ray and hd-dvd is around the corner so expect to shell out some more for this.

Finally!!! An extended cut release!!! I don't any copy of previous releases, so do you think this release will be in the same league such that of Gladiator extended cut... the additional scenes are great BUT they dropped the DTS track...

ay correct master redge! meron pa palang korean superbit if you want to combine the 3-disc deluxe edition and superbit in one! ;D the fourth disc is just a soundtrack

Will they ever stop making another release? I already have the 1 discer and the superbit edition. I think I'll invest mine on Blu ray or HD DVD. Pass muna ako. I hope. Pero nangangati kamay ko. I musssst ressssssssist. Temptation. OH tukso layuan mo ako. ;D

if japan would release another set, i would surely jump the wagon. but i have to pass on this one. i mean, i only need to watch this film twice and im ok.
a good packaging and more extras would be more convincing.

Yeah, hemisphere is right. BTW Sir Ridley Scott also prefer the theatrical cut of ALIEN. Sometimes, labo ni Scott, no? But I love all his films especially BLADE RUNNER. It's a visual feast for the eyes.

Sir Ridley Scott embrace wholeheartedly the dvd format. If he only knew that there is another version coming......he would be happy to know about it.

since only about 10 mins. is added to the extended cut, I'll stick to my R1 DE, which I'm already happy with.
