hi, just wanted to show an easy to setup Movie Jukebox for our
beloved egreat which I have been using since October. It has
had many revisions and the latest is version 1.0.17. I will
be using in this guide the version 1.0.16 which I learned from
other forums that this has been their officially latest and
stable version.
Note: personally the version I still use as of this day is version
1.0.11 which was released around october of 2008. It had
no YAMJ GUI so every setup was text based on the command prompt.
I only used version 1.0.16 for this guide only.
Here are the installation instructions:
1. Be sure to have Java installed in your system. If you don't have it yet
you can download it from here,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
2. Download the YAMJ files from here,
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list)
Create a New folder and name it YAMJ or any name you like
and extract them to a that folder in your PC.Do not create a sub-folder,
just extract it and it will create all the required folders.
3. Download Mediainfo from here
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612)
just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
zip file there.
NOTE: be sure to search for the file under "MediaInfo - Command line" at the bottom page
and not the "MediaInfo - Graphic interface". they both work but the GUI interface
has some annoying popups that could confused users.
4. download the YAMJ Gui from here
http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config (http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config)
and extract them inside the YAMJ folder
When everything else has been extracted, your folder would look like this
(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii180/mrm43/Install_Folder.png)
Installation of Movie Jukebox on egreat (BE SURE THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET FOR THIS TO WORK)
NOTE: In this guide I will be seting up an egreat with an internal hard drive. All the movies
are in this drive. If your setup is on a network then just click on the appropriate
buttons on the YAMJ GUI and select the corresponding directories.
1. Be sure that you have your NMT connected to your PC via usb slave
2. Go to the YAMJ folder in your PC and double click on YAMJ GUI exe file
3. Click on "select dir" and go to your NMT drive and select the folder where the movies
are located. then select "on the NMT's Hard Disk" and automatically the NMT path
will be loaded with the correct settings.
4. Next is to select the directory where we would want ur "index.html" file to be placed.
In my case since my movies are in M:\Movies-HD, I would want my index file to be at
the root directory M:\. Once this is done just click on "Add" and just cancel the
popup that comes after it ( it will just ask you to add a description for the library
entry) and click on the "save" button.
5. that's it. now all we have to do is double click on the "My_YAMJ.cmd" and watch it
just finish.
Running the Movie Jukebox.
1. to run the movie jukebox just connect back your egreat to your TV and power it up.
2. once it is up click on the hard drive and automatically your screen will now be
in the jukebox format.
NOTE #1 : if you don't like your moviejukebox to run automatically when you select your
hard drive in the nmt menu then just rename the "index.htm" to any other name like "main.htm"
as long as it is in html format. When this is done, when you select the hard drive in your nmt no
moviejukebox will appear. to run the movie jukebox go the the rightmost icon when the hard drive is
selected and you will see that the html file is there. click on it to run movie jukebox.
NOTE #2: When you add new movies to the jukebox, correct movie details or add new posters
and fanart, you can re-run YAMJ by just clicking on the My_YAMJ.cmd file. Assuming that
you haven't changed where the movies are stored, YAMJ should re-run and add the new files
to the index. Otherwise run the YAMJ GUI first.
NOTE #3: If the posters in your jukebox does not match the movie file then what I do is
go to the IMDB site and search for the movie. copy and use the number as the name of the
movie file from the URL of that movie, like this
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/
use tt1038988 as the name of the movie with the wrong poster.
There are other ways to correct the posters but I think this is the simplest.
Note #4: almost all the settings in the moviejukebox properties are set to default. You can
change most of the settings to your liking, like how many movies and rows you would like
per page, how many movies you would like to show in the NEW menu, etc...
Here are pics on my system with movie jukebox version 1.0.16 running.

wow....someday i will do this to my egreat.thanks for the guide sir!
-
great tutorial! will do this project on my weekends ;)
-
anong mas ok, ung my lil jukebox ni joms or eto?
-
anong mas ok, ung my lil jukebox ni joms or eto?
hi sir, mas maraming features yung kay joms pero dapat matiaga ka dahil medyo matrabaho.
This one is very easy and you can have it up and running in no time. This is for those who want
to have a jukebox without having to spend large amount of time and work.
-
anong mas ok, ung my lil jukebox ni joms or eto?
I've tried both. I agree with mrm. Mas maraming features ang lil jukebox joms...you can click on the profile of actresses and more info about the movie whereas YAMJ is faster to create but only display a short synopsis of the movie. I prefer YAMJ because everything's automatic. I don't have luxury of time to create links for lil jukebox and I have lots of movies.
-
tanong lang, will adding the movie jukebox eat up big space in the hard drive? tia
-
nope. small size lang sila.
-
Saw this in action and it works great :) The main issue I had with Jukeboxes before is the rocket science degree it requires for you to set up (either that or the meticulousness of an accounting professoinal). Most we want is the cover art and a small synopsis, other related info, while useful, isn't as critical as having a pretty box art photo :)
-
hi, just wanted to show an easy to setup Movie Jukebox for our
beloved egreat ...
hi bro, sent you PM. thanks!
-
so this will not work with the M34A.. ::)
-
so this will not work with the M34A.. ::)
i tried this on a usb thumbdrive and connect it to my m34a and it works! :)
-
ok nga ito kung pwede sa M34A... pero paano?
-
follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.
1. then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43).
2. connect your external drive to your computer.
2. set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located
- kung external drive gamit mo ok lang, point mo lang dun sa drive and folder nung mga movie files mo.
3. then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1".
4. set "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored" to the directory where you install the application.
5. click "Add" then click "Save".
6. the open the directory where you install the application.
7. My_YAMJ.cmd file should be present, double click on that file and wait.
8. the application will create the "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder.
9. when done, copy "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder to the root of your external drive.
10. connect your external drive to your m34a on the bottom usb port
- bakit bottom? kasi USB_DRIVE_A-1 yung select mo previously.
done.
hope that helps.. :)
-
done in my 31b! looks great!
just some inquiries:
1. how do you uninstall? (if need be)
2. how do you do for an external drive? tried direct to the external same process but won't. may need to be attached to the NMT while process is done?
thanks and hope to get some response from users!
cheers!

2. see my post above

Yes you can attached it to your nmt(as a usb drive) and just use yamj gui.
Just like what "loniticz" instructed above.
You can also do this; (taken from network media tank forums http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=20270)
Problem is popcorn hour does not auto-mount drives. This method
allows yamj and the popcorn hour to SEE mutiple drives as one drive.
This is for windows XP only, vista instructions will differ
Assume you have a Drive C with your Jukebox in a folder
called MyJubebox right of the root as in (C:\Myjukebox)
Assume also you have a drive Q that has some media
Assume also you have a drive P that has some media
Step 1
in c:\MyJukebox create an emty folder called Drive-Q
also create one called Drive-P
Step 2
right click on MyComputer and choose Manage
click on Storage
then click in the right side window on Disk Management (Local)
Step 3
Right Click on Drive-Q
choose Change Drive Letters and Paths
Click Add
Click on Browse and Browse to C:\MyJukebox\Drive-Q
Click Ok
got back to Step 3 if you have another Drive
Step4
make sure you have no references in yamj to the other 2 drives (Q & P)
Re-Run Yamj, it will now index the new drives. The popcorn hour also
sees this as one drive.
Step5
watch tv
What really happened here?
go and look in the C:\Myjukebox Folder. You will see the new folders now look like drives. Windows has 'mounted' the 2 drives in that folder. If you select that 'folder' you will be transported to Drive Q/P...
hope that helps.
-
a million thanks guys, am trying this as of the moment... taking a bit longer though loading movie info after clicking on "My_YAMJ.cmd"...
will let you know how this goes... meanwhile back to our regular program...
cheers!

my windows computer reboots after I run My_YAMJ? any ideas guys?
hi, have you tried another version of YAMJ GUI? how about if that still fails try other
versions of YAMJ too. If it still reboots when you run My_YAMJ, then maybe you should
try the text base method(command prompt), without the use of YAMJ GUI. That's what I was using before
the version YAMJ ver 1.0.16. Look at the "README" file inside YAMJ folder for the instruction on how to do this.
-
noticed that reading my drives became a bit slower after scanning through the menu of the jukebox. anyone experience the same?
i use 31b with DDR DRAM :Hynix 64-bit 256MB. can the RAM of this unit be upgraded
thanks!

hi, are the drives you are referring usb HDD? is it only slow when you browse the menu? ext3 formatted
drives have faster read times than ntfs formatted one when read by nmt's.

sir mrm, tried step by step everything is ok until the part i run the file my_yamj.cmd... nag pop open yung dos screen, then after a few titles ito ang lumalabas...
any idea why this happens? after the process i plugged the nmt to the tv then turned it on, selected the hard drive of the nmt but the menu display didn't changed to jukebox. ???
-
@mercury724
hi sir, what version of YAMJ are you using? Did it create the "index.htm" file? This html file
should be on the root directory of the NMT hard disk for it to run automatic.

sir i'm using the latest is version 1.0.17
wala ako nakitang "index.htm" file sa nmt hdd, i selected the root directory of the hdd kung saan ilalagay yung "index.htm" after updating the list wala ako nakitnag "index.htm" sa root directory pero meron itong folder "jukebox".
tried re-running the my_yamj.cmd and this time it worked! pero some posters wala & mali.
how do i correct the poster that does not match with the movie?
-
here you go chief...
NOTE #3: If the posters in your jukebox does not much the movie file then what I do is
go to the IMDB site and search for the movie. copy and use the number as the name of the
movie file from the URL of that movie, like this
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/
use tt1038988 as the name of the movie with the wrong poster.
There are other ways to correct the posters but I think this is the simplest.
-
here you go chief...
senya na sir, hindi ko maintinduhan yun instruction e. under what folder ko makikita yung file na yan and how to use the number... ???
-
my Yamj looks like this...
tried running it again pero still looks like this...some missing poster art. :(
-
senya na sir, hindi ko maintinduhan yun instruction e. under what folder ko makikita yung file na yan and how to use the number... ???
oh ok chief, here's how it goes:
1. open your internet explorer and type "http://www.imdb.com"
2. open your windows explorer and go to your hard drive that contains your movies. search for the specific movie file that do not have matching poster.
3. type the name of the movie with the wrong poster in the search box of www.imdb.com
4. in the same web page click on the movie that pertains to it.
5. once the right movie pops up go to the address bar. the address bar will show something like - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/
6. copy (in this example) tt1038988 and then go back to your windows explorer where this movie is located in your hard drive.
7. rename the movie file with tt1038988
8. do the same for all the movies that have mismatched posters
9. after you've done all the movies, run My_YAMJ.cmd
10. once My_YAMJ.cmd is done, go to your windows explorer, search for where you placed the "index.html" in your hard drive and click on it.
11. by clicking on this you would be able to check if if the movies you replaced were indeed replaced with the correct posters.
cheeers! and hope this helps.
-
maraming salamat sir jake for the assistance. will try it later.
oo nga pala... Happy Father's Day sa mga tatay! :D
-
Normal lang na minsan walang cover art or maling cover art. Na-experience ko na rin yan. You can try sir Jake's suggestion or, in the alternative, you may download your own cover art and put it in the same folder as your movie file. Rename the cover art to the same file name as your movie file.
YAMJ allows you to change these by two methods. You can specify the URL of the artwork in the NFO file (see NFO_Files) or, as discussed here, by using local artwork.
Here's the link on how to put or change the default cover art: http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/Artwork (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/Artwork)

hi, here is another method for changing the poster art for the jukebox menu. in this method you can
put any poster art you like. in this method if you don't like the poster imdb gave you, you can
change it manually.
the method goes like this;
a. go inside the jukebox folder
example jukebox folder
(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii180/mrm43/jukeboxfolder.jpg)
b. from our picture above we are going to change the poster for
"Felon.2008.720p.BluRay.x264-SiNNERS" movie file. what we do first is to delete
the two Felon*.png files.
c. then choose your poster art from whatever site you prefer (it must be in jpg format)
d. rename the new poster art the same as the jpg file that is present inside the jukebox folder
and copy it to the jukebox folder. it should overwrite the existing one.
ex. "Felon-newposeter.jpg" to "Felon.2008.720p.BluRay.x264-SiNNERS.jpg"
c. when that is done just rerun My_YAMJ.cmd to rebuild the two png files.
you have a new poster....

hi, you download the command line version and not the full version.
you can download the latest here...

Hi, here's how to customize the look of your moviejukebox. Go to your moviejukebox folder
and open the file called "moviejukebox properties file".
ex.
in my example i have change my default skin and used the "gfb107" skin under the skins
folder inside the jukebox folder. another was I change my newdays value from the default of 7
to 20 so that 25 recent movies inside of 20 days will show under the NEW menu.
The list goes on....
here is the link how to fully understand the workaround of this important file.
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/PropertiesConfiguration (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/PropertiesConfiguration)
Now if you want to alter how many rows and movies you like to appear on your menu
then you have to edit the "skin properties file" under the skins directory of your moviejukebox
folder. NOTE: AS THERE ARE SEVERAL SKIN FOLDERS HERE YOU MUST SELECT THE SKIN
THAT YOU ARE USING (YOU CAN SEE WHICH ONE YOU HAVE IN YOUR SETUP IN YOUR "MOVIEJUKEBOX PROPERTIES FILE" INSIDE THE MOVIEJUKEBOX FOLDER.
ex.
# Maximum number of thumbnails per index page
mjb.nbThumbnailsPerPage=24
# Maximum number of thumbnails per line in the index page
mjb.nbThumbnailsPerLine=8
# Generated thumbnails dimensions
thumbnails.width=117
thumbnails.height=169
NOTE:Of course, if you have more thumbnails, you need to make each thumbnail smaller! Again,
in my case, for an 8x3 grid, I set the size of the thumbnails to (again, in the skin.properties file):
The list goes on...
here is the link how to fully understand the workaround of this important file.
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/SkinConfiguration (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/SkinConfiguration)
IMPORTANT NOTE: FOR THOSE WHO WILL ADD NEW LINES TO REPLACE OLD ONES INSIDE THE PROPERTIES FILE BE SURE TO PUT THE NUMBER SIGN (#) AS THE FIRST CHARACTER OF THE LINE YOU WANT TO DISABLE.
Happy tweaking!

hi sir, you can download it here.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612)
it is found at the bottom, look for this file MediaInfo_CLI_0.7.16_Windows_i386.zip
When everything else has been extracted, your folder would look like this

Hi, here's how to customize the look of your moviejukebox. Go to your moviejukebox folder
and open the file called "moviejukebox properties file".
ex.
in my example i have change my default skin and used the "gfb107" skin under the skins
folder inside the jukebox folder. another was I change my newdays value from the default of 7
to 20 so that 25 recent movies inside of 20 days will show under the NEW menu.
The list goes on....
here is the link how to fully understand the workaround of this important file.
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/PropertiesConfiguration
Now if you want to alter how many rows and movies you like to appear on your menu
then you have to edit the "skin properties file" under the skins directory of your moviejukebox
folder. NOTE: AS THERE ARE SEVERAL SKIN FOLDERS HERE YOU MUST SELECT THE SKIN
THAT YOU ARE USING (YOU CAN SEE WHICH ONE YOU HAVE IN YOUR SETUP IN YOUR "MOVIEJUKEBOX PROPERTIES FILE" INSIDE THE MOVIEJUKEBOX FOLDER.
ex.
# Maximum number of thumbnails per index page
mjb.nbThumbnailsPerPage=24
# Maximum number of thumbnails per line in the index page
mjb.nbThumbnailsPerLine=8
# Generated thumbnails dimensions
thumbnails.width=117
thumbnails.height=169
NOTE:Of course, if you have more thumbnails, you need to make each thumbnail smaller! Again,
in my case, for an 8x3 grid, I set the size of the thumbnails to (again, in the skin.properties file):
The list goes on...
here is the link how to fully understand the workaround of this important file.
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/SkinConfiguration
IMPORTANT NOTE: FOR THOSE WHO WILL ADD NEW LINES TO REPLACE OLD ONES INSIDE THE PROPERTIES FILE BE SURE TO PUT THE NUMBER SIGN (#) AS THE FIRST CHARACTER OF THE LINE YOU WANT TO DISABLE.
Happy tweaking!
Thanks again sir mrm, will try to tinker with the config if i have a free time.
-
follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.
1. then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43).
2. connect your external drive to your computer.
2. set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located
this was the procedure i followed...
on my last try last night... i was finally able to executed the
procedure & it ran smoothly!
but when i connected by hardisk back to my m34a
to view the jukebox, its says, unable to execute.....
natulog na lang ako kasi 1am na! :'( ;D :'(
-
bro xxx, check nyo kung nasa HDD mo yung index.html. you can check if it's working in the PC by opening it with your favorite browser. if it can open in your browser, dapat mabubuksan din ng egreat. maybe there's an error in creating the index file. try nyo execute uli yung my_yamj.cmd... good luck.
-
also, before running my_yamj.cmd, much better kung buburahin mo muna yung index.htm saka Jukebox na folder.

hi sir, Are the movies on a HDD inside the NMT or on a network share? where is your "index.htm" located? It must be in the root directory of the HDD inside your NMT or the share where you are accessing. It must not be inside any folders. Another question sir, in the YAMJ GUI may I know where you pointed the "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored (Select Dir)" option?

guys, ano pong appropriate media info dapat kong download? wala akong makita sa link na pwede sa Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
-
sorry guys, nasagot na pala yung tanong ko from page 2..i suppose regardless the OS is XP or Vista basta parehong 32 bit, un pading file na yun ung idodownload..?
-
Thanks mrm for starting this thread.
Eto ginawa ko kasi malayo yung NMT (LAN connected) ko sa PC ko at ayaw ko ng mag alis pa ng mga wires.
Parang nag setup ka lang ng NMT by USB.
Palitan mo lang yung "drive letter" to "\\{IP address of your NMT}\share"
example:
Kung mag-i-scan k ng files sa "X:\Video"
> Palitan mo lang ng "\\192.168.1.22\share\Video"
> "On NMT's Hard Disk" pa rin yung pipiliin mo.
> \\192.168.1.22\share" ang ilagay sa last box.
Sana makatulong.

did this awile ago.problem lang is for some HD series iba ibang pics nalabas and if ever the movie has 2 files 2 posters din nalabas. :D

anybody know how to put the default poster instead of the generated one by yamj?kasi with the band of brothers that i have it keeps on selecting the allman brothers e.some concerts din iba poster sana there is a way to put the generic one nalang with the original title of the movie.

have you tried renaming the movie file?
-
hi, here is another method for changing the poster art for the jukebox menu. in this method you can
put any poster art you like. in this method if you don't like the poster imdb gave you, you can
change it manually.
the method goes like this;
a. go inside the jukebox folder
example jukebox folder
(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii180/mrm43/jukeboxfolder.jpg)
b. from our picture above we are going to change the poster for
"Felon.2008.720p.BluRay.x264-SiNNERS" movie file. what we do first is to delete
the two Felon*.png files.
c. then choose your poster art from whatever site you prefer (it must be in jpg format)
d. rename the new poster art the same as the jpg file that is present inside the jukebox folder
and copy it to the jukebox folder. it should overwrite the existing one.
ex. "Felon-newposeter.jpg" to "Felon.2008.720p.BluRay.x264-SiNNERS.jpg"
c. when that is done just rerun My_YAMJ.cmd to rebuild the two png files.
you have a new poster....

The one above is what I find simplest to do to change a poster.
You can actually just google the image you want to use and save it as a jpg file.
Then go back to your jukebox folder and follow the steps above.
;D
-
did this awile ago.problem lang is for some HD series iba ibang pics nalabas and if ever the movie has 2 files 2 posters din nalabas. :D
sir try to rename the file with two parts.
The best way to name these files is to add CDx, DISCx, DISKx or PARTx after each part of the video file, where x is an incrementing number.
NOTE There is no space between CD/DISK/DISC/PART and the number.
Example:
T:\Videos\File [CD1].avi
T:\Videos\File [CD2].avi
T:\Videos\File [CD3].avi
T:\Videos\File [CD1].nfo
or even mixing up the part delimiters will work:
T:\Videos\File [DISC1].avi
T:\Videos\File [DISK2].avi
T:\Videos\File [PART3].avi
T:\Videos\File [DISC1].nfo
-
thanks for the suggestions.will try it later. for series like band of brothers, do i use just 1 poster for all episodes?kasi i dont get to see the episode number if the yamj already chose a poster for the series e. any solution to this?

hi sir, you have to install the ext2 drivers first, before windows can read the ext2 filesystem.
you can download it here

it is place wherever you pointed the last option in YAMJ GUI "Location of where you want the
jukebox to be installed"? go there and you will see the jukebox folder.

1. search ninyo sir sa http://www.imdb.com yung movie then copy ninyo yung url
2. create a text file sa same folder ng movie file ninyo.
3. paste sa loob ng text file yung nakuha ninyong url, then save.
4. rename the text file to "<mkv filename>.nfo" (if your movie name is "green festival.mkv" yung text file should be "green festifal.nfo")

Thanks tol. Problem kasi is wala sa IMDB ung movie. Actually Discovery Channel Greatest Festivals sya and under that are 8 movie files. Since nangangapa pa talaga ko, hindi ko nalang muna ginawang multipart. Kahit hiwa-hiwalay nalang muna sya. Now, ung original name nung isang file is French so I changed it to English. Gusto ko sana kung ano ung pagkakarename ko is un din ung lalabas sa jukebox.

hi sir, if all your movies have that message when they are played then I suggest you delete
all of the yamj outputs (jukebox folder and index.htm) and rebuild them from scratch. If only
some of the movies are not working then just delete the jukebox-files accosiated with the movies
you had problems with and rebuild. A friend of mine had this problem and it worked for him. Hope
this works for you too.

Hi sir, the problem is with imdb changing their output, since YAMJ does basic screen scraping, any little change on IMDB's side has the potential to break something. For those who downloaded their YAMJ from
this site http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list, i think there is no fixed yet. There are
workarounds like turning the directors name to false in the skin properties and rebuild. When its officialy fixed just turn it back to true and rebuild.
Omertron's YAMJ version has this fixed already. You have to dowload the yamj r1016 build
for this. Once downloaded you have to follow again the procedures in page 1 for installation and running
it. I have tried it and it works. For those who don't want to rebuild all their movie files then we just
have to wait for the official fix.
Here is Omertrons site...

I have an eGreat m31b, with 1.5Tb internal HD and 4 x 1Tb externals attached via a powered USB hub.
On the eGreat screen, it shows:
1) Internal HD
2) USB Drive A
3) USB Drive B
4) USB Drive C
5) USB Drive D
I already did a YAMJ catalog in the root of each drive and it works ok, but would like to stick a universal one in the root of the Internal HD.
Will this work? Anyone done exactly this? Do i modify certain library.xml files, etc?

hi, you can try this sir...
If you select that 'folder' you will be transported to Drive Q/P...
hope that helps.
or you can also
use YAMJ GUI to add several libraries and just save it until the last one is selected,
thus you only have one index.htm for all libraries

i'm just about to try this yamj. assuming i completed the installation will the jukebox work even when the nmt is unplugged from network? or do i need to have a network connection all the time? tia

hi sir, if all your movies are on the HDD inside the NMT then you don't need the network in order to
play them. If you access them through shares from the PC to play them, then you need the network.

I encountered the same problem with having multiple enclosures hooked up to the nmt. You will most likely get to the screen where it shows the synopsis of the movie but it will not play and go back to the same screen because of the incorrect NMT path.
If you configured your enclosure for example as a device connected to your NMT usb A-1, make sure that it is the first one that you turn ON (or connect first) if you are using multiple enclosures. Otherwise, the NMT will read the enclosure as usb B-1 (if connected or turned on second) and you will not be able to play the file.
I noticed that the usb port assignments on the nmt do not necessarily mean that the bottom or lower part is usb A-1. You can connect a single enclosure to either of the two ports (on m31b) and it will show up as A-1. The second enclosure as B-1...

Question to those who have already jukeboxed... is there a certain folder/subfolder scheme format to be followed? Or do I have to place all movies in one folder per assigned/mapped drive, with no subdirectories?

hi sir, there is no scheme or format. you can place them anywhere you like as long as you are consistent
in pointing to them when using the YAMJ GUI before building the jukebox.
-
Wala akong network sa bahay. Can I possibly install the YAMJ if I mount my ext HD in my PC?
Whats the possible work around? btw, my nmt is M34a

sir migs, please backread page 1 and 2, may procedure na po dun kung paano gawin

ok... so subdirectories are fine? i have my movies categorized in folders by genre...

Question mga braders...what mediainfo download do I use for a Windows Vista laptop? ???
-
I encountered the same problem with having multiple enclosures hooked up to the nmt.
The second enclosure as B-1...
..hope it helps.
alvinh, your advice is spot on... the eGreat labels my 4 external HDs, from A1 to D1 based on the order that it detects them, ie a first come first serve basis.
To avoid the delay at boot up,
1) i power on the nmt (which has an internal HD), and the yamj jukebox is located in the internal HD...
2) i select Video and it jumps into the index.htm which is for the jukebox covering 4 externals and the internal.
3) Only then, do i switch on the External HDs in order of preference..
why is this quicker?
1) with an external HD attached at boot up, the egreat will auto connect to Drive A1 by default, and this takes a long time... you then need to waste time going to "Media Source" in the menu to go to the Internal HD to find index.htm
2) at that point, the egreat will create indexes for all 4 external HDs and this takes forever.
hope this helps others :)

Hey guys! I was able to do it using Windows Vista! ;D Soooooo cool!!! ;D Ang ganda nya...may mga maling covers lang that I need to cange, but apart from that, it works. Thanks to everyone here and to brader Alvin for helping me with the link for the Windows Vista version of the mediainfo. ;D

Am I doing something wrong or does updating movies really take long? The topic says jukebox in minutes and by the rate im going, it may take hours.

Am I doing something wrong or does updating movies really take long? The topic says jukebox in minutes and by the rate im going, it may take hours.
hi sir, it depends on the number of movies you start with. If you start with hunrdreds or more then it will really take time, but still within the hour if you have fast internet. The best way to speed things up is to allocate all your internet speed (that is stop all other downloads) while update is going on.
-
What will happen if i just stop the downloading the updates?
-
What will happen if i just stop the downloading the updates?
hi sir, it will abort everything. no "index.html" will be created. and you have to start over again
if ever you decide to run the yamj the second time around.
-
no "sir" pls.
not working. i really think i have to stop the update in order that it will go to the next movie. will try this one out first, and if it doesnt work then ill leave it overnight to see what happens.
-

Just to give you an idea on time, when I jukeboxed my internal HD-which contains 124 films, it took 45 mins to accomplish! ;D
-
just tried to leave it for 40 mins and the update of one movie is still not yet done. i am now trying to skip the updates. im hoping it works.

That's odd...40 mins for a movie to update?...Something's definitely not right. I hope you resolve the matter.

- kung external drive gamit mo ok lang, point mo lang dun sa drive and folder nung mga movie files mo.
3. then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1".

10. connect your external drive to your m34a on the bottom usb port
- bakit bottom? kasi USB_DRIVE_A-1 yung select mo previously.

Hi sir, If you don't mind sir, could you show us your step by step procedure from
- where you downloaded YAMJ, Mediainfo, YAMJ GUI and which version
- Your own step by step procedure when you followed the guide here
- Where are your movies located when you run the YAMJ GUI (inside NMT, ext HDD , etc...
and how are they connected to the pc.
-
Hi sir, If you don't mind sir, could show us your step by step procedure from installation of YAMJ, mediainfo,
and yamj gui. If you followed the procedures shown here, show us how you did it step by step. Where you downloaded medianfo also and what version the YAMJ and YAMJ gui. Hope this is not a lot to ask.
i followed yours & sir loniticz's directions step by step, kaso pag-appear nung mediainfo window parang nag-hang na.
so far ito naisip ko gawin:
1. try again tonight & hope everything works fine
2. uninstall yamj, etc. and redo from start. baka may mali sa installation. pero afaik i followed instructions to the letter.
3. replace all titles with imdb titles/codes before running My_YAMJ.cmd. baka nahihirapan mag-update sa internet pag iba title.
sana maayos...
any better/more worthwhile suggestions? tia

hi sir, i edited my reply above. if you could fill in the other questions i noted. will be much appreciated.
and ask ko lang why you replace all your titles with imdb codes. how did you go about this.
yes it may seem trivial that I would ask you to note down again your step by step procedure but
sometimes kasi when we encounter problems iniisip kaagad naten na napakalaki ng problem and
we think in advance. we don't notice na sometimes the problem pala is right infront of us. It may
seem repetitious but i would appreciate it if you would fill in those queries i noted above.

hi, just wanted to show an easy to setup Movie Jukebox for our
beloved egreat which I have been using since October. It has
had many revisions and the latest is version 1.0.17. I will
be using in this guide the version 1.0.16 which I learned from
other forums that this has been their officially latest and
stable version.
Note: personally the version I still use as of this day is version
1.0.11 which was released around october of 2008. It had
no YAMJ GUI so every setup was text based on the command prompt.
I only used version 1.0.16 for this guide only.
Here are the installation instructions:
1. Be sure to have Java installed in your system. If you don't have it yet
you can download it from here,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
2. Download the YAMJ files from here,
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list)
http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list
moviejukebox_v1.0.16 beta.zip
Create a New folder and name it YAMJ or any name you like
and extract them to a that folder in your PC.Do not create a sub-folder,
just extract it and it will create all the required folders.
C:\YAMJ
3. Download Mediainfo from here
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612)
MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.11_Windows_i386.exe
just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
zip file there.
C:\YAMJ\MediaInfo
4. download the YAMJ Gui from here
http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config (http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config)
and extract them inside the YAMJ folder
YAMJ GUI Config v0.43.zip
When everything else has been extracted, your folder would look like this
(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii180/mrm43/Install_Folder.png)
after extracting files i continued...
follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.
1. then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43). DONE
2. connect your external drive to your computer. DONE
2. set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located

3. then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1". DONE
4. set "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored" to the directory where you install the application. DONE
5. click "Add" then click "Save". DONE
6. the open the directory where you install the application. DONE
7. My_YAMJ.cmd file should be present, double click on that file and wait. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. after clicking My_YAMJ.cmd it ran up to "updating data for:" then a mediainfo window appeared and just stayed there.
8. the application will create the "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder.
9. when done, copy "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder to the root of your external drive.
i uninstalled everything and redid from the start (download/install) but got the same result. NEED HELP!

hi sir, I think this is where you got confused.
you said you download this:
"MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.11_Windows_i386.exe"
this is the wrong version. you have to download the zip file format as mentioned in the instructions
3. Download Mediainfo from here
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612)
just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
zip file there.
download the one that says "without installer". that is the zip file. the file you downloaded is the
full version which is an executable file. the zip file which is mentioned in this guide is the command
line version and that is the one needed. try downloading it again sir and this time select the
"withoutinstaller" file.
Hope this resolves your problem and sir olats too.

hi sir, anong error na lumalabas? where did you extract the mediainfo? paki check na rin
sa add/remove programs ng windows baka may na install na media info program. paki tangal
kung meron. I will try to recreate all that you did with my NMT and see what happens.
dun sa ext HDD mo anong directory pala nakalagay yung mga moves? I will try to simulate
your conditions and see if an error occurs.

hi sir, I think i found the problem (hope so). here goes.
the mediainfo you downloaded is different.
yours - "MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.16_Windows_i386_WithoutInstaller"
mine - "MediaInfo_CLI_0.7.16_Windows_i386"
the difference is GUI (graphical user interface) vs CLI (command line interface)
In my guide above I stated that the CLI version should be downloaded and used.
Yes they work differently but the problem is when I tried it they still produce the same results.
A working jukebox.
Here is what I did using the GUI version.
- downloaded everything YAMJ and YAMJ GUI, and Medianinfo GUI.
- put them in c:\YAMJ
- connected my ext HDD on the usb port of my pc
- detected it as drive I:
- my movies are in I:\Movies-HD
- double click on c:\Yamj\yamj gui config v0.43.exe
- selected "I:\Movies-HD" on the Select Dir option
- click on " a usb drive attached to the NMT
- selected directory "I:\" on location where you want jukebox to be stored option
- click on ADD then when a window ask you to input description just click OK.
- then another window appears "add to the library" click OK
- then click SAVE and select on dir c:\YAMJ then click OK
- it ask you to open click YES and automatically be brought to the YAMJ dir.
- double click on MY_YAMJ and a window will apear.
- an "updating data for: Fargo" screen will appear
this one is new to me.
- a new windows appears. either one of the two or both. click OK for the one with an
OK option and just exit the one without. then the updating will continue.
until this two have appeared the updating... will seem to take on forever.

- the final result is still the same. the jukebox is created...
NOW IF YOU DOWNLOADED THE CLI VERSION OF MEDIAINFO WHICH IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM
(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii180/mrm43/mediainfo-7.jpg)
AT THE BOTTOM YOU WILL SEE "MediaInfo - Command line" JUST CLICK ON THE PLUS SIGN
TO DOWNLOAD THE COMMAND LINE VERSION.
JUST USED THIS INSTEAD AND NO MORE GUI APPEARING
-
hi to all, when downloading the mediainfo from this site;
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/files/
be sure to search for the file under "MediaInfo - Command line" at the bottom page
and not the "MediaInfo - Graphic interface". they both work but the GUI interface
has some annoying popups that could confused users.
-
Thank you very much. The pop-up is not appearing anymore. Hope it works. Im keeping my fingers crossed.
-
done but not automatic (have to click 4th icon from left (playlist?) then choose index file. is there a way to do it automatic?

hi sir, you have to place the "index.html" at the root directory to make it automatic.

-
My movies are in an external drive through usb. I placed in z:. Isn't that the root directory?
hi sir, yes that is the root directory. are your movies inside a folder under the root directory z?
My working setup is like this, for example if my ext usb hd root directory is z then my movies
are inside Movies under z directory (z:\movies). when YAMJ prompts me where my movies
are located i selected z:\Movies and when it prompts me where to store my jukebox I
selected z:\ And then click ADD and SAVE and point it to my YAMJ directory c:\YAMJ.
An "index.htm" will then be created and placed automatically in root directory z
-
My movies are in subfolders--according to genre. When Yamj prompts where my movies are located, i select z:\. where to store my jukebox i point to my computer directory where i installed the files and just copy the index.htm afterwards to z:\.

hi sir, I tried your setup and it works naman. after I copied jukebox folder and index.htm to z:
nag automatic yung jukebox pag access ko ng usb dun sa NMT. Why don't you try this instead
sir para wala ng copy copy ng index.htm and jukebox. why don't you just point kaagad yung
"where to store my jukebox" just point it to z: drive kaagad. try it sir baka ma solve problem.

tried this parang walang lumabas na index.htm ?

question mga gurus, i am trying to help a friend to this to his Egreat. pero pag dating sa huli hindi tumutuloy kasi cant write index.htm to his HDD. write protected day yung HDD niya. Paano matangal yung pagka write protect nung HDD niya? THanks!
-
sir question on the jukebox thing, do i need to make an update if i just added an srt file? (subtitles)
-
Not sure if I'm already obsolete. But I just discovered this thread and my eGreat UI looks great!
For those a bit OC about posters. I created a photoshop action that automatically converts a downloaded movie poster to the jukebox png file complete with mirror reflection effect underneath.
Download posters from http://www.impawards.com/
Download, load and run this photoshop action: Movie Jukebox.atn (http://wikisend.com/download/589108/Movie Jukebox.atn)
Load the .atn file in Photoshop
Run the "big" action to get the big version png file and overwrite the one on your NMT hd (i.e. Crank.2006.1080p.BluRay.x264_large.png)
After running the "big" action, run the "small" action to get the smaller version (i.e. Crank.2006.1080p.BluRay.x264_small.png)
Hope this helps.

-
sir mrm, napaka ganda ng thread na ito and very detailed ang pag share mo ng iyong kaalaman...salamat susubukan ko ito sa hdx10000 ko. pwede ba ito kahit may internal hd AND external hd ako. yamj will detect my moveis from both drives? tried oversight but it did not detect all my moveis and tv series so i decided to uninstall.

4. Next is to select the directory where we would want ur "index.html" file to be placed.
In my case since my movies are in M:\Movies-HD, I would want my index file to be at
the root directory M:\. Once this is done just click on "Add" and just cancel the
popup that comes after it ( it will just ask you to add a description for the library
entry) and click on the "save" button.
question 1. same steps as what your first post for int and external drive?
in step 4 of you 1st post says i should place "index.html" iwhere my moveis are, so paano pag may int and ext drive ako, see below
question 2. when i attach nmt to my pc, do i also attache my external hd to nmt?
1. Be sure that you have your NMT connected to your PC via usb slave
question 3. in yamj gui, "my video file are on:" section...what do i select if i have internal drive in nmt and external drive? can i select both?
question 4. or i have to do the steps twice? once for nmt and 1 more for my external drive?

Hi sir, the easy way to have both internal and external drives working with jukebox is to create their own
index.htm. To create index.htm for the nmt , just follow directions mentioned here. And to create
index.htm on the external drive. just connect it to a pc by itself ( don't connect the external drive to the nmt
and then connect nmt to pc, it won't work). Once external drive is connected to pc just treat it as if it is
an nmt and just follow the procedure again, but this time select "usb drive" from the yam-gui options.

how do you do this for mac? :(

bookmarked! :)

Gagana ba to sa lahat nang Egreat MOdels?
-
No.
This thread applies to old egreat (now discontinued) models.
The reason for it is that these old models used to use firmware from the popcorn hour. egreat now uses it's own firmware so the playback path will not work anymore.
